"Do you guys have any questions regarding on the lessons?" Mr. Blake asked.
"None so far sir." All responded.
"Alright thats good. Now then, lets have our first quiz." He said as he took out a printed quiz sheet and passed it one by one on each students.
"The quiz is just all about our lesson today and please kindly mind your own papers."
The quiz is pretty easy than I thought. That's a relief my head was zoning out during the discussion.
In less than 10 minutes, I was already done with the quiz. I looked around the room and saw that other students have quite a hard time answering the quiz, which made me wonder since it was all easy questions.
A few minutes later.
"Okay, shall we check now?."
"I'm gonna write down the answers on the board and I trust that all of you are capable and responsible enough to check your own papers honestly."
I whistled lightly.
I got 50 points over 50 questions.
"Alright now I'm gonna collect all of your papers judging by your scores, okay?" Mr. Blake said leaning on the teacher's table.
"Who got 50 points."
I stood up from my seats and gave the quiz sheet to him, and it looks like I wasn't the only one who got 50 points. Sebastian also got one was it harder than I thought??.
"How about 49 points?."
I returned back to my seat and Lucas stood up from his saying.
"I won't lose next time." and proceeds to walk past me handing his sheet to Mr. Blake.
"???" I stared at him in bewilderment.
Aviel, Elizabeth, Caleb and Isaac stopped from their tracks in shock of what Lucas just said, even some of my classmates heard what he just said. All four of them had that expression of dead shock and trying not to laugh while they were passing their sheets.
I was deadass confused. Was that supposed to be a competition? Seriously just what the heck is wrong with that guy. I thought with a clear question mark written on my face. I sat back on my seat eyeing at Caleb and Aviel trying to convey my thoughts with my face saying "Is he sick in the head?." and they just gave me a shrug and a look of amusement.
After a couple of minutes, Mr. Blake gave us a early lunch as he heads out towards the faculty office to put the sheets in place. Most of our classmates already went out earlier including Lucas and his friends. I on the other hand was still arranging my bags and putting back the notebooks back in place.
"Yo I didn't know you guys were.. Pfft, competing scores in the quiz earlier." Aviel spoke sarcastically trying to stop her laugh.
Klaus sighed.
"Just ignore him Gab. If you put on too much thought about this it might get worse."
"Pftt he totally considers you as his rival Gab." Elizabeth said.
"What the fu—!" Aviel shouts in surprise.
"Since when were you here?!" I asked surprised by her sudden appearance out of nowhere.
I thought she already left together with Lucas!. Thank god we didn't speak any ill intentions towards them or else it'll turn into a fight.
"I thought you left with Lucas?." Caleb asked.
"I forgot my phone on my bag so I came back and I saw you guys talking to eachother so I decided to eavesdrop!." She spoke enthusiastically with he arms on Caleb's shoulder.
I've never heard of someone openly saying that she's eavesdropping on someone's conversation in their face. She's quite a pain in the neck isn't she. I mean I already got the gist of it on the first day, but still.
I sighed.
"Why's he suddenly declaring a competition with me anyways? I just don't get it." I asked sitting on my desk.
"Well, I don't know either?." She said pondering.
Ah she's really a pain in the neck.
"But maybe it's because he was a straight second placer on grade school and middle school and now in highschool suddenly he got tied with someone and hurts his pride?." She said with a not fully sure tone.
"But I'm not so sure about if that's really what he's thinking so It might be 50-50." She adds.
"Well back in middle school Gab here was also a straight top student but on grade school he was tied with someone in the first place.. S-so maybe that's why he ain't affected with this tied ranking." Aviel spoke as her tone changes in the middle.
"Oh and who was that person he got tied with at first place?" Elizabeth asked.
"O-oh. Now that I think of it I can't really remember who was it." Aviel replied awkwardly.
"Is that so. Well I gotta go now before Zack will flip me out if I'm late." She said waving goodbye and runs out the classroom.
As Elizabeth excited the room all of us went in an awkward silence before Caleb spoke something to break the awkwardness.
"Shall we head out now? Haha?"
"Yeah. Let's go now." I spoke as I stood up from the desk.
"S-sorry.." Aviel whispered feeling guilty.
It's quite rare to see her apologize. She must've thought that I was mad at her for saying that.
"Why are you apologizing when you did nothing wrong." I replied.
Aviel went silent and just continued on walking. She has nothing to apologize, It was just a slip of a tongue. I don't blame them for speaking about that person. After all she was also their friends.
"We still have a lot of time left before lunch ends and Mr. Blake also said we can go out if we want since we were given an early lunch. Shall we eat out today?." Klaus said.
"Burger Emperor!" Aviel shouts in excitement.
"Why are you so down about burgers these days?." I asked.
"After tasting the Burger Emperor's Whopper Sr. for the first time. It felt like I was ascending to heaven." She replied salivating.
"Now that I think of it It's been a while since I ate at Burger Emperor." Caleb adds.
"I guess it's decided then!!." Aviel jumps in excitement.
"Good grief.." I sighed with a smile.
