Chapter 5 - Family bombshell part 1

Kasumi came back into the room with a tray holding multiple teacups stacked on it and a small pile of napkins, just in case. She began placing cups in front of every person present. "Ok, Ranma, I believe it is time to start the family meeting." Taking a sip of tea, Ranma debated what to start with. If she started with the pregnancy, she knew she wouldn't be able to explain everything. Unfortunately, her train of thought was broken by tea being flung in her face by none other than her fiancée herself.

Ranma's ears naturally flared to life, sticking practically straight up as her tail batted back and forth in annoyance. At this point, she knew this should have been predictable. With a scowl, Ranma began to wipe her face with the napkins Kasumi brought. Taking in the sight of everyone, the expressions differed from person to person. Akane's look of anger seemed to be replaced by confusion. Nabiki's usual unbiased look became a far-off stare where you could practically see her calculating the amount of money she could make off this situation.

Genma's scowl could practically burn a hole in the wall at this point, but behind the scowl, it wasn't hard to see the tint of fear creeping up. Soun, the ever-fragile man, began to wail loudly. Genma was the first to speak, "Boy, what is the meaning of this? What did you do this time?" Ranma decided to return the heat with a scowl of her own. A small fang gleamed as her hair began to stand up as if to make her seem bigger, and her tail smacked the ground, sending small spiderweb cracks along the wooden floor.

Ranma seemed ready to attack, but before she could jump at Genma, she was hit on the head by Cologne's gnarled stick. "Now, child, no fighting. This is only supposed to be a conversation. You need to learn self-control." Ranma's scowl began to soften before she sat completely down with her arms crossed, leaving her ears and tail out in the open for everyone to see. "Fine, I guess you're right. He's just a fat panda anyway."

This only really stoked Genma's fire even more. But before he could do anything, a vestige of Happousai seemed to appear out of nowhere, sending a glare his way and shutting Genma up immediately. "Good, at least you still know your place, Genma. Now be quiet. Ranma-chan, you can speak now." Ranma was a bit surprised by this and just stared for a moment before getting a little nudge on the side from Shampoo that finally snapped her out of her haze.

Right, so first of all, I should probably talk about my new features. We believe that somehow I have mastered the Neko ken. Though it is still a mystery how it happened because I certainly wasn't doing anything to master it at the time." Ranma blushed a bit when she spoke the last part. Akane took that opportunity to interrupt. "And what exactly were you doing at the time?" Ranma shook her head to clear her thoughts.

"Anyway, what I was doing doesn't matter right now. There are a couple of things that matter right now, and that starts with the changes that happened to me." Taking a moment to gauge everyone's reaction, she noticed nothing of note at the moment, so she continued. "So first, I guess, would be my extra appendages. From what I can tell, they are one hundred percent real. I got my ki running through them and everything. I can definitely feel them, too. Next would be my ki. From what I can tell, it didn't increase in size, but it did get thicker and, I guess, higher in quality. It takes a bit less ki to do the things that I do, but it has made it more difficult to control. I can also do this without losing my mind." She flexed her hand, and bright blue ki claws materialized quickly, only for a couple of seconds, before leaving Ranma slightly out of breath.

Ranma recovered quickly before reaching over to her teacup and noticing that it was frozen. Frowning to herself, she flipped the cup over in the air. The frozen tea slid slowly out of the cup and shattered on the hardwood table. "This also seems to be something new. I guess stuff seems to freeze around me for no reason."

Happosia started to laugh loudly, earning everyone's attention. "Oh Ranma, my girl, it isn't for no reason. You have always had an affinity for ice. Why do you think you picked up that Amazon technique so fast? It's just that now your ki has become so potent that it's affecting your surroundings so much more than before. Unfortunately, it seems you might have to learn restraint from scratch. Have you tried using ki at all since the change?"

"Only twice. One was a soul of ice technique, and then for my ki claws, but I ended up overpowering both." Happosia rubbed his chin. "It's fine, my girl. We can work on it first thing in the morning. It's about time I took your training seriously. We shall get your ki back under control and move on from there." Shocked expressions spread across the room; all besides Cologne and Kasumi seemed surprised by the grandmaster's willingness to train the now locked catgirl.

Cologne finally interrupted everyone's train of thought. "So you have finally decided to train Ranma as the true heir to the Anything-Goes school of martial arts. I never understood why you let your students create branches. Just because they were incapable of learning the full school is pathetic, really." Happosai laughed at this. "Who said I let them? They aren't even considered masters."

Ranma looked at her father for denial, but the look on his face gave Ranma all the answers she could ever need. Her father, the person she put so much trust in, had been lying to her for all her life. He dragged her all over the world, tortured her, and sold her multiple times, all in the name of teaching her the martial arts of a school he wasn't even qualified to have. A sudden realization hit her. "So if my pops and Mr. Tendo aren't masters, do the Saotome and Tendo schools really exist?" Happosai shook his head. "Nope, never has and never will."

Akane seemed to be seething at this point. "Now, wait a minute, you can't say the school that my daddy worked so hard to build doesn't exist. This is the Tendo dojo, and as the heir, I refuse to accept that." Happosai, the ever-scheming old man, smirked at her. "Oh, child, why do you think your father has never tried to kick me out? In truth, this was never the Tendo dojo. It was the Musabetsu Kakutō Ryū school, and you were never an heir. Your father took it over after I left. I let his family stay because even though he is weak, he's still my student."

Ranma, finally gathering her thoughts, spoke up again with a bit more respect than even she thought she was willing to give the perverted master. "Wait, so does that mean the agreement to join the schools isn't valid since the separate schools don't exist, Master Happosai?" Happosai gave her a happy grin. "Why, yes, it does, dear girl. I see your current form has also been helping you think more clearly. If I remember correctly, that agreement was for the heirs of the two schools to marry and produce an heir that would carry the name of the true school."

Akane now had a look of panic that lasted only a couple of seconds before she came up with a retort. "It's not like I would want to marry some pervert who has probably knocked up multiple of his little floozies." Ranma's eyes narrowed at the young Tendo. "That, I think, brings us to the next topic: what did you mean by saying you did something to force me to come clean?" Suddenly, everyone's eyes were no longer on Ranma; instead, they were instantly on Akane.

Akane gave a small smile, as if she had Ranma backed into a wall. "I found all the condoms you have been hiding under your futon, so I poked holes in them so your little floozy would get a pregnancy scare and you would be forced to admit that you were cheating. So, which one got pregnant? I'm assuming it's Shampoo since she is here.

Ranma felt the blood in her veins freeze. Before most people in the room could react, she jumped to a crouching position, ready to pounce. Shampoo did the first thing that came to her mind and quickly pulled the pigtailed martial artist into a hug to try to calm her down, only to get bitten in the shoulder by the martial artist. She winced in pain as Ranma's short but sharp fangs pierced her skin, and blood trickled down her arm. She never let go, though, gently stroking the feral martial artist's head.

Shampoo knew that if Ranma got away from her, her love would do something that would leave an everlasting scar on her soul, so she whispered reassuring words to Ranma, assuring the girl it was okay that she loved her and she wasn't going to go anywhere, completely muting out all the outside chaos.

Outside their little bubble, everyone was staring at Akane, but the first one to truly react was someone nobody expected. Kasumi, the ever-quiet one, walked gently up to her sister while Akane looked up at her oldest sister with a smile. As if she expected praise for her intelligence, only to receive a slap that reverberated across the room, sending Akane stumbling while holding her face. More angry than ever, Kasumi's usual gentle voice took on a tone of anger.

"I'm sorry, Akane, but I cannot stand here anymore and let you get away with something so stupid just because you are daddy's little girl. After all the times you blamed Ranma for things she didn't do, all the times you hurt her, I'm surprised she hasn't disappeared or managed to kill herself. Heaven knows she has tried. I would try to find someone who truly loved me if I were in her shoes, but that doesn't give you the right to mess with her contraception.

After taking in Kasumi's words, they looked bad to Ranma, who was still being held back by Shampoo. Gone were Ranma's usual arm bracers, and in their place were Ranma's visible wrists, covered in both horizontal and vertical scars that seemed to have healed only months ago. Tears of anger trailed down her face, but she seemed to be held back by the Chinese Amazon. Everyone was brought back to Kasumi as the one who seemed to be leading the family meeting for the moment.

Kasumi sighed at her now crying baby sister. "I swear Father has let you get away with too much." She turned to her father with a look of anger. "Next semester, I am moving to Juban to go to the medical school there, so you better find a housekeeper. I'm tired of you using Mom as an excuse. I haven't had a life since she passed, and you haven't been a father since then. You have three months, maybe less, to figure it out. If you don't try, I'll leave even sooner."
