Chapter 54 - First Dance Lesson (1)

Daaa dandan dan dan dan dandan

Wooooooa~

P. S. A

The beat of the song rang out with a powerful, loud trumpet-like synth and a whistle cutting through the beat.

Then an angelic voice sang out for five seconds before an aggressive rap began.

What's your aim

When we play this game

We want to make it

Straight to the top right now

What's your pain

Fighting doubters who don't believe

Trying hard to achieve

My dreams

What's your gain

Everything is golden

I sit on the top of the hill, yeah

Don't believe

I will achieve

Cause I'm a G

You can't stop me

Watch this!

While the aggressive rap was going on, the seven dancers displayed on the screen were dancing with large, powerful moves, spinning, and swinging their arms and feet in wide movements as if battling a foe.

A synchronized jump to change positions happened before vocals rang out, singing about fighting the way to the top.

The powerful choreography then transitioned to floor work before all the dancers simultaneously hopped to their feet before shouting out:

Warrior!

Then the dancer at the very back pretended to hit the other dancers in the back of their heads, and they each collapsed like dominoes as a mini chorus started.

Digidigidum digidigidum

They're aiming for you so

Get down

As if they were in the military, as the whistle blew, the dancer's feet kicked out to the side before stomping in place in time with the beat.

GetGetGetGet Get down (what?)

Get down, Get down

Wow wow wow wow wow

The music then transitioned into another fierce rap verse that was even faster than the earlier one before the high vocals came in and the singers stacked harmonies.

There was one more rap verse and singing verse before the music seemed to pause, and the dancers froze.

Then the dance in the center began stomping.

Stomp

StompStomp StompStomp

StompStomp StompStomp

With each stomp, one of the dancers unfroze themselves and joined in the dance break, which was just the sounds made as their feet stomped the ground and they clapped their hands or hit their chests, legs, etc.

With the stomping still happening in unison, they exchanged positions while clapping and stomping boldly.

The moves were big and aggressive, and completely synchronized as the dancers stopped and clapped, ending with the dancers all lying on the ground except for a single person.

Another voice began singing before the dancers got up and continued dancing again.

When the music and the video stopped, the entire room was silent.

Ari just stared at the screen in amazement.

He had to admit, the song was amazing.

The way the raps were woven into the singing, the chanting-like chorus, the various use of instruments, the catchy lyrics, and the sticky beat, all of it just worked so well together.

Because of his sill [Picky Listener (B)], Ari began dissecting everything he heard just as he learned to why trying to compose, and had to admit it.

The person who produced the song was amazing.

Although he didn't know who else composed it, it was clear that Jelissa was extremely talented as a producer.

Ari glanced at her sitting off to the side before turning his attention back to the elephant in the room.

The choreography.

As an outsider, it looked amazing watching the dancers move with such power and fluidity.

Their movements were incredibly synchronized, and that final dance break was just the sounds of their synchronized clapping and stomping, which made a big impression.

Watching it, he could proudly say that they looked cool.

But as a person who would have to learn that choreography….

Ari could only let out a strained laugh as he looked at his F-rank dance stat and the extremely difficult choreography being replayed on the screen.

Yeah.

It was good that he had saved his stat points.

He highly doubted that he would be able to naturally increase his dance stat to learn this dance in one week.

Additionally, even the dancers looked exhausted from all the high energy movement and they hadn't even been singing.

Ari could only imagine how difficult it would be to memorize the dance, physically dance it, while singing in tune.

He felt a bit thankful that he had been running and exercising diligently to earn stat points from his repeat missions.

Honestly, he was the tiniest bit thankful to the system.

As if it heard his thoughts, NOVA filled his vision with a large blue transparent screen.

[Aren't you happy that you listened to me?]

[Haven't I been right in everything so far.]

[Go ahead and say that I was right.]

[Say it.]

[Praise me.]

At the arrogant words, any thanks he had toward the system disappeared, and Ari just rolled his eyes and listened to the conversations around him.

"They expect us to memorize and dance that in a week? Are they crazy?" a contestant sitting in front of Ari grabbed his head as if his world was ending.

"Forget the dancing, I wanted to try rapping, but did you listen to the rap sections? When do they breathe!? Was that even English?"

"You're worried about breathing? I'm worried about my voice cracking. The whole song is so high!"

"Guys, the singing is not the issue! Look at the choreography? The dancers themselves are out of breath and look tired. I counted the jumps. There are 10 synchronized jumps. 10!! We're cooked."

"Wallahi, I'm finished."

"이 춤을 만든 악마는 누구인가?"

"어머니께 안무를 배우다가 죽었다고 전해 주세요. "[1]

English and Korean complaints came out in turn, and up in the front, Ari could see PD Emily smiling joyfully as she took in their reactions.

"So, my dear contestants, how do you guys like the song? It's good, right?"

Of course, it was good!

Would it not be good after a Grammy-winning producer worked on it?

And you're even recording us, so who would dare say this was bad?!

The contestants had no choice but to agree, and PD Emily nodded knowingly.

"And how was the choreography? Don't you think it looks cool?"

At their less-than-enthusiastic nods, PD Emily put her hand to her ears while gesturing for them to make some noise.

WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

With bitter expressions on their faces, the contestants cheered loudly until PD Emily gestured for them to quiet down.

"If a tester song is this good, just imagine how good our signal song will be, right? Anyway, A-B dance badges, you're with Young-woo, C-D tonight you're with Selena, and everybody else is with Jaywalk. You're dismissed to your dance class rooms with your trainers, so work hard. Camera crew will capture the studios, and in a bit, staff will begin calling contestants out one by one for a quick personal interview. Now let's say goodbye to everybody but the dance trainers. Bye~"

Byeeeee!!!

Goodbye!

Save me, please!

"See you bright and early, babies! And good luck! I'm cheering for you!" Jelissa shouted cheerfully as she waved at the contestants before leaving with Larry Jackson and X-ponent.

With tears in their eyes, the contestants waved goodbye to the trainers who were leaving.

Then they followed the staff members, directing them to the proper dance rooms.

Ari separated from Jamie and Carlos, who went to the C and D-ranked dance class which were in a different hallway.

Since he was in F, Ari went to the correct room.

Standing off to the side was Jaywalk, the F-rank dance trainer, who glanced at Ari before instructing.

"No outside shoes in the studio. Ever. So change into your dance shoes and head in."

Ari glanced at all the other contestants changing into their dance shoes in the hallway before sighing and removing his shoes.

Grabbing them, he tucked them into the cubby outside the dance room and tried to enter with just his socks on.

As he stepped through the door, he felt somebody grab his arm.

"You, what are you doing?"

[1] Look it up, it's funny ^^
