Chapter 9 - The Truth

For the next few days, following the schedule of the other planets in the solar system, Jinvolo tried to teach me about the halo system and some of the vampiric moves he had read in his scriptures.

"Run me through it again," I said, trying to wrap my head around all the information. "So, we have the Golden Halo, then the Crimson, Phoenix, Ethereal, Arcane, Starforge, or Starbringer, then Hypernova, Galactic, Eclipse, and finally Chrono?"

"Yes, you got it," Jinvolo confirmed. "After Chrono, it splits into three paths. Most people don't even reach the Chrono Halo, but those who do and push their limits even further can choose one of three paths: Void, Fire, or Quantum."

"And you're telling me that if I didn't have this halo, I wouldn't even be able to understand you?" I asked, trying to grasp the strange intricacies of this system.

"Yeah, pretty much. One of the advantages of halos is that they allow cross-species communication. Each species speaks in their language, but the halo translates it to the listener's language in real-time. It's a nifty feature, and we have the Universe to thank for it, even if it can be a bit of a prankster at times. Some say the Universe has its own way of meddling, sometimes playing tricks on those who rely on it too much," Jinvolo explained with a smirk.

"Interesting," I said with a chuckle. "People on my planet would probably write endless research papers on this phenomenon but never be able to come to any concrete conclusions."

Jinvolo laughed. "Yeah, research papers are common across the galaxy. Everyone's trying to make sense of things. Anyway, we need to focus on enhancing your halo and vampiric abilities, especially since you're a potential ruler of your race. And that probably means you have the potential to handle the forbidden technique: Redness."

"Redness?" I asked, my interest piqued. "What's that?"

Jinvolo's expression grew serious. "Redness is a bizarre and overpowering technique that only a few beings in the universe have ever mastered. It allows a user to tap into a raw, primal energy that surpasses all halos. It's said to unleash unimaginable power, but at a great cost. Most who attempt to use Redness never recover—they become mindless engines of destruction; lost to the very energy they sought to control. They're driven mad, unable to stop themselves from destroying everything in their path."

A chill ran down my spine at his words. "So, it's dangerous?"

"Beyond dangerous," Jinvolo replied. "It's catastrophic. But there are a few, a very select few, who have been able to wield Redness without losing themselves. Your parents and sister were among them. It's said that only those with the purest lineage or a unique connection to the energy can use it safely. The King and Queen of Vampires—your parents—were able to use Redness without succumbing to its madness. And your sister, she mastered it too. Given your heritage, it's possible you could handle it, but it's not something to take lightly."

I took a deep breath, processing what he was saying. The idea that my parents and sister could wield such a terrifying power, and that I might have the potential to do the same, was overwhelming. "What does it do exactly?" I asked.

"Redness taps into the very fabric of existence, bending reality to the user's will. It enhances all abilities, making the user faster, stronger, and nearly invincible. But it's not just about raw power; it's about the depth of control. It allows manipulation over life and death, the physical and metaphysical, even the mind and soul. But if you don't have the strength of will and purity of spirit to control it, it will consume you," Jinvolo explained.

I nodded, understanding the gravity of his words. "So, it's like a last resort?"

"Exactly," Jinvolo said. "It's a weapon of last resort. Something that could save the universe or destroy it, depending on who wields it. That's why mastering your halo and vampiric abilities is so important. You need to be prepared for anything, especially if Redness is in your future."

I swallowed hard, feeling the weight of what lay ahead. "Then let's keep training. I need to be ready for whatever comes."

Over the next few days, our training intensified. Jinvolo pushed Flora and me harder than ever, determined to prepare us for the challenges ahead. We practiced day and night, honing our skills, enhancing our halos, and unlocking new abilities. The Ethereal Halo had opened up new realms of possibilities for Flora and me, allowing us to manipulate intangible forces like light and spirit. But even with these advancements, I couldn't shake the feeling that we still had so much more to learn.

Jinvolo, too, seemed more focused than ever, his eyes often distant as if he was contemplating something beyond our comprehension. One day, during a particularly grueling training session, he stopped suddenly, his expression shifting to one of deep concentration.

"What's wrong?" I asked, sensing his unease.

Jinvolo took a deep breath, his gaze intense. "I've been thinking about Redness," he said quietly. "About what it could do in the right hands, and what it means to control it. I want to try it."

I felt a jolt of shock. "But you just said it's dangerous. You could lose yourself."

"I know," Jinvolo replied, his voice steady. "But I need to understand it, even if just a little. If I can control it, even for a moment, it might help us prepare for what's coming."

Flora and I exchanged a worried glance. We both knew how unpredictable Redness was, how it could turn even the most disciplined warrior into a mindless beast. But Jinvolo was determined.

"Just…be careful," I said, my voice tinged with concern.

Jinvolo nodded and closed his eyes, taking a deep breath as he centered himself. The air around him began to change, becoming charged with a strange, almost electric energy. His aura flickered, shifting from the deep blue of the Arcane Halo to a crimson red, pulsating with a violent intensity. The ground beneath us trembled slightly, and I felt a surge of raw power emanating from him, like a storm about to break.

For a moment, it seemed as if Jinvolo had control. His eyes glowed red, and the energy around him swirled like a vortex. But then his expression changed, contorting with pain and fear. The red aura grew darker, more chaotic, and I could feel the madness creeping in, threatening to consume him.

"Jinvolo, stop!" I shouted, fear gripping my heart.

At the last second, Jinvolo's eyes snapped open, and with a tremendous effort, he wrenched himself free from the grip of Redness. The aura around him dissipated, and he collapsed to his knees, gasping for breath.

I rushed over to him, my heart pounding. "Are you okay?"

Jinvolo nodded weakly, his face pale. "I'm…fine. But you were right. Redness is…something else. It's like trying to hold back a tidal wave with a paper cup. I thought I could control it, but…I was wrong."

Flora joined us, her face full of concern. "You scared us, Jinvolo. Don't do that again."

He managed a weak smile. "I won't. I promise."

As Jinvolo recovered, Flora and I resumed our training, pushing ourselves harder than ever. We sparred relentlessly, testing the limits of our halos and honing our combat skills. During one particularly intense session, Flora caught me off guard with a powerful spell, knocking me off my feet.

I landed hard, the wind knocked out of me. As I struggled to catch my breath, Flora rushed over, her eyes wide with worry. "Nova, are you okay?"

"I'm fine," I wheezed, forcing a smile. "Just caught me by surprise."

Flora's expression softened, and she knelt beside me, her hand gently touching my cheek. "You need to be more careful," she whispered, her voice filled with concern.

Before I could respond, she leaned in and pressed her lips to mine in a soft, unexpected kiss. For a moment, everything else faded away—the training, the danger, the weight of our mission. All that mattered was Flora, her warmth, and the soft touch of her lips against mine.

When she pulled back, her cheeks were flushed, and she gave me a shy smile. "Sorry, I just…I couldn't help myself."

I stared at her, stunned but touched by her gesture. "Don't apologize," I said, smiling. "I…I liked it."

Flora blushed deeper, but her smile widened. "Good. Because I did too."

We stood there for a moment, just looking at each other, before Jinvolo's voice broke the silence. "Alright, lovebirds, break it up. We've got more training to do."

Flora and I quickly regained our composure, turning our attention back to Jinvolo, who had a serious expression on his face. "Alright, Nova, Flora," he began, his tone commanding, "I am going to teach you one of the moves from the vampire scriptures. It's known as the Phantom Veil."

"The Phantom Veil?" I repeated, intrigued. "What does it do?"

Jinvolo nodded, stepping forward and beginning to explain. "The Phantom Veil is a technique that allows the user to blend into the shadows, becoming nearly invisible to the naked eye. It's a form of advanced cloaking, or invisibility, that not only hides you from sight but also masks your presence from those who can sense auras or life forces. In vampire lore, it's often used for stealth attacks or to escape from dangerous situations."

Jinvolo continued, his gaze steady and focused. "But using the Phantom Veil isn't just about turning invisible. It requires immense concentration and precise control of your energy. When you activate it, you're essentially aligning your energy with the ambient shadows and the dark energies around you, making yourself undetectable."

Flora leaned forward; her curiosity piqued. "So, it's more than just hiding physically. It's like hiding your very essence?"

"Exactly," Jinvolo confirmed, nodding. "You're not just disappearing from view; you're erasing your presence, becoming one with the shadows themselves. It's a complex skill that takes time and practice to master. Most vampires can't maintain it for long, but with your potential, I believe you can learn it quickly."

I exchanged a look with Flora, both of us eager to try. "So, how do we start?" I asked.

Jinvolo smiled slightly, seeing our determination. "First, you need to calm your mind and slow your breathing. The Phantom Veil relies on a state of inner stillness. Close your eyes and focus on your breath. Feel the energy inside you and imagine it merging with the shadows around you."

Following his instructions, Flora and I closed our eyes and took deep, measured breaths. I concentrated on my breathing, feeling the steady rise and fall of my chest. Gradually, I became aware of a subtle energy within me, a faint pulse that seemed to echo the rhythm of my heartbeat.

"Good," Jinvolo said softly. "Now, imagine that energy expanding outward, spreading through your body and into the space around you. Let it merge with the shadows, blending your presence with the darkness."

I focused on his words, visualizing the energy flowing out from me like tendrils of shadow, wrapping around my body and extending into the surrounding darkness. It was a strange sensation, like dissolving into the air, my form becoming less solid, more ethereal.

"Now, open your eyes," Jinvolo instructed.

I slowly opened my eyes and looked around. To my amazement, my body was partially translucent, fading into the shadows. Flora had a similar effect; her figure was barely visible, like a ghostly outline.

"You're doing it," Jinvolo said, his voice filled with encouragement. "You've both managed to activate the Phantom Veil. Now, try moving while maintaining the cloak. The real challenge is to keep your energy steady while in motion."

I nodded, taking a cautious step forward. It was difficult to keep my energy flow constant while moving; every step threatened to break my concentration. But with effort, I managed to maintain the cloak, feeling my presence remain hidden.

Flora moved alongside me, her steps light and careful. She glanced at me, her eyes bright with excitement. "This is incredible, Nova! We're really doing it!"

I grinned, sharing her enthusiasm. "Yeah, we are. This is amazing."

Jinvolo watched us with a satisfied expression. "You're both doing great. Remember, it's all about balance and control. The more you practice, the better you'll become at sustaining the Phantom Veil. Now, let's try something more challenging. I want you to maintain the cloak while performing basic combat moves. It's important to be able to fight while remaining hidden."

Flora and I exchanged determined looks, ready for the next step. We shifted into combat stances, our bodies still partially cloaked in shadows. As we began to spar, I focused on keeping my energy steady, my movements fluid yet controlled.

The training was intense but exhilarating. Every movement, every breath was a test of my focus and control. But with each passing moment, I felt myself growing more adept, more attuned to the shadows around me.

Jinvolo nodded approvingly. "Good, very good. You're both quick learners. Keep it up, and soon you'll master this technique."

As we continued our training, I couldn't help but feel a deep sense of pride and satisfaction.

As Flora and I continued to practice, Jinvolo guided us through a series of other vampire techniques from the scriptures. Each move was more complex than the last, demanding a deeper understanding of our abilities and more precise control over our energies.

The next technique Jinvolo introduced was called Blood Mirage, a skill that allowed us to create illusions of ourselves using a small amount of our own blood. "This technique is particularly useful for confusing your enemies," Jinvolo explained, demonstrating how to use a drop of blood to create a perfect duplicate of himself. The duplicate moved and acted as if it were real, mirroring Jinvolo's actions. "The key is to focus on your intent and visualize the mirage as an extension of yourself."

Flora and I followed suit, each creating a mirage. I was surprised at how real my illusion appeared, mimicking my every movement and expression. Flora's mirage was just as convincing, her control over it surprisingly strong. We practiced maneuvering our mirages, making them dodge attacks, and perform basic combat moves.

"Nice work," Jinvolo said, nodding in approval. "Remember, the more you practice, the more complex the mirages you'll be able to create. In time, you could even create multiple illusions at once or give them different forms."

After Blood Mirage, Jinvolo moved on to teaching us the Shadow Step technique. "Shadow Step allows you to move through shadows as if they were doorways," he explained. "It's a form of short-range teleportation that can be incredibly useful in combat for dodging attacks or getting behind an enemy."

The idea of stepping into one shadow and appearing out of another seemed almost impossible, but under Jinvolo's careful guidance, Flora and I began to grasp the basics. It required a deep connection with the shadows, a sort of attunement that allowed us to slip through the darkness like it was a physical space.

It took several attempts, but eventually, I managed to Shadow Step from one side of the room to the other, appearing beside Jinvolo with a look of triumph on my face. Flora soon followed, her determination paying off as she reappeared a few feet away from her original position.

"Excellent!" Jinvolo said, his tone filled with encouragement. "You're both progressing faster than I expected. Now let's work on combining these techniques with your combat training."

For the next few hours, we practiced using the Phantom Veil, Blood Mirage, and Shadow Step in various combat scenarios. We sparred with each other, incorporating the new moves into our attacks and defenses, pushing our limits and testing our abilities.

As the day wore on, I couldn't help but be impressed by Jinvolo. His knowledge of these techniques and his ability to teach them with such clarity made me realize just how skilled he truly was. I couldn't help but wonder about his past and how he came to master so many different skills in what seemed like such a short amount of time.

During a break, as we sat catching our breath, I finally voiced my thoughts. "Jinvolo, I've been meaning to ask you something," I began, looking at him curiously. "How did you manage to learn all these techniques and spells so quickly? You've mastered so many different abilities from the vampire scriptures and beyond. It's… it's incredible."

Jinvolo paused, considering my question for a moment. "It wasn't easy," he admitted. "I've spent a long time studying and practicing, dedicating myself to understanding the intricacies of magic and the ancient techniques of different races. But it's not just about time or effort. It's about passion and necessity."

"Necessity?" Flora echoed, looking intrigued.

"Yes," Jinvolo replied. "When you're faced with challenges, when your life or the lives of those you care about are on the line, you find ways to push beyond your limits. For me, learning these techniques was a matter of survival. I had to master them to protect myself and others, to fulfill promises I made to people who are no longer here."

I nodded, taking in his words. "I see… It's like you had no choice but to become stronger. But still, your understanding of so many different arts, from vampire techniques to arcane spells, is beyond impressive. Do you ever feel overwhelmed, trying to juggle all these different skills?"

Jinvolo smiled faintly. "All the time. It's not easy balancing so many different abilities, especially when they come from different origins and require different forms of energy. But I've learned that the key is to find harmony between them. Instead of seeing them as separate, I try to see how they can complement each other, how one technique can enhance another."

Flora leaned forward; her eyes full of admiration. "That's amazing, Jinvolo. You've turned what could be a disadvantage into a strength."

He shrugged modestly. "It's just something I've had to do. And I'm glad to pass on what I've learned to both of you. You're both incredibly talented, and with time and practice, I believe you can surpass even me."

I smiled, grateful for his belief in us. But I couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to Jinvolo's story than he was letting on. "Jinvolo, one more thing… you've mentioned before that only a few people in the universe have been able to use Redness freely. You said my parents and sister were among them. But what about you? Have you ever been able to use it?"

Jinvolo's expression grew serious, and for a moment, a shadow seemed to pass over his face. "Redness is… a power unlike any other. It's overwhelming, consuming. The few times I've tried to tap into it, I've felt like I was on the brink of losing myself, of becoming something else entirely. I've never been able to fully control it, not like your parents or sister. That kind of mastery requires something beyond just skill or practice. It requires a level of understanding and connection with the universe that I haven't achieved."

I nodded slowly, understanding the weight of his words. "I see… It's not just about power, then. It's about knowing who you are and having a purpose that's strong enough to anchor you."

"Exactly," Jinvolo agreed. "Redness can make you a mindless destruction machine if you're not careful. It's not something to be taken lightly. But I believe that with the right guidance and enough determination, you could learn to use it safely. Maybe one day, you'll be able to achieve what, so few have."

Then, as we continued talking, a figure appeared out of nowhere—it was my sister. I looked at her with a mix of anger and uncertainty, feeling conflicted about whether I should forgive her. But I wasn't ready to make that decision, not yet.

"Hi Jinny, you've been keeping them busy, haven't you?" She glanced at Jinvolo with a smirk.

"What do you want?" Jinvolo demanded, his voice sharp.

"Just checking up on my brother," she replied, her gaze shifting to me.

"I'm fine, thank you very much," I said curtly.

"Let's have a practice match, shall we?" she suggested, a challenging glint in her eyes. "I want to see how strong you've become."

"Fine," I shot back, a hint of anger in my voice. "Prepare to lose." My ego was getting the best of me.

She smirked, clearly enjoying my reaction. "Let's see what the next heir to the Vampiric Throne is made of," she taunted, stepping into a fighting stance.

We both took our positions. I activated my halo instantly and used Shadow Step to get closer to her. She seemed amused.

"You think you can use that basic move against me?" she mocked as she activated her Void Whisper Halo, pulling me out of the shadows effortlessly.

"I have the Void Whisper Halo. That won't work against me," she said with a sly smile. I looked at her, puzzled, realizing Jinvolo hadn't mentioned this halo in our training. "Oh, don't tell me you don't know what the Void Whisper Halo does."

My sister's grip tightened on my arm, forcing me further down. I could feel the pain shooting through my shoulder as she twisted it behind my back. Despite my best efforts to break free, her hold was unrelenting.

"Come on, Nova, is this all you've got?" she taunted, her voice dripping with disdain. "I expected more from the son of the Vampire King and Queen."

I gritted my teeth, trying to pull away, but she was too strong. Her Void Whisper Halo glowed around her, casting dark shadows that seemed to dance with her movements. She was toying with me, letting me struggle just enough to feel the sting of defeat without any real chance of escaping her grasp.

"Maybe you're not cut out to be the heir after all," she continued, her voice now filled with a mocking tone. "You're just a scared little boy playing at being strong."

With a sudden burst of force, she flung me to the ground. The impact knocked the wind out of me, and I gasped for breath, struggling to stand. But before I could even get to my feet, she was on me again, her foot pressing down on my chest.

"You need to learn your place, Nova," she hissed. "You're nothing compared to me."

Pain shot through my ribs as she increased the pressure. I tried to push her off, but it was like trying to move a mountain. Desperation surged through me as I realized how helpless I was against her. I had trained so hard, pushed myself beyond my limits, but it wasn't enough. Not against her.

"Stop it, please!" Flora shouted from the sidelines, rushing forward. But with a flick of her hand, my sister sent a wave of shadowy energy that knocked Flora back, sending her sprawling to the ground.

"Stay out of this, Flora," my sister said coldly. "This is between me and Nova."

I could see the fear in Flora's eyes as she struggled to her feet, but she was powerless to help. Jinvolo stood beside her, his expression grim. He knew better than to intervene.

As I lay there, gasping for air, I saw my sister's face twist into a cruel smile. She was enjoying this, enjoying my suffering. And then, without warning, she lifted her foot and kicked me hard in the side, sending me rolling across the ground. I felt something snap inside me, a sharp pain radiating through my ribs.

"Pathetic," she muttered, stalking towards me as I struggled to get up. "You can't even defend yourself. How do you expect to defend anyone else?"

I tried to stand, but my legs wouldn't cooperate. My vision blurred with pain as she loomed over me, her eyes cold and merciless. She raised her hand, dark energy swirling around her fingers, preparing to strike again.

But just as she was about to unleash her attack, a sudden flash of light erupted between us. A figure materialized out of thin air, blocking her path. It was Kai, his scythe glinting in the light of his Multiverse Halo.

"That's enough," Kai said, his voice calm but commanding. He held his scythe with both hands, its blade glowing with a strange, ethereal light. "You've made your point."

My sister glared at him, her expression darkening. "Stay out of this, Kai. This is none of your concern."

Kai didn't flinch. His Multiverse Halo pulsed around him, ripples of energy flowing outward, distorting the very air around us. "I think it is. You're going too far."

She snarled, her Void Whisper Halo intensifying. "And who are you to tell me what to do?"

"I'm someone who can stop you," Kai replied, his voice steady. "Don't make me prove it."

For a moment, there was a tense silence as they stared each other down. Then, with a scream of frustration, my sister unleashed a torrent of dark energy at Kai. But he was ready. With a swift motion, he swung his scythe, the blade cutting through the air and absorbing the attack as if it were nothing.

"You forget who you're dealing with," Kai said, stepping forward. "I've fought beings far stronger than you. Your little tricks won't work on me."

My sister's eyes narrowed, and she released more of her restraints. Her power surged, the shadows around her growing darker, more intense. She summoned a weapon, a dark, jagged blade that seemed to absorb the light around it. It was a rare weapon, one that pulsed with malevolent energy, almost as if it were alive.

Kai's expression remained unchanged. "The Dark Aegis Blade," he said, recognizing the weapon. "So, you've been busy. But even with that, you're not going to win."

With a roar, my sister lunged at Kai, her blade slashing through the air. Kai moved with impossible speed, his Multiverse Halo flaring to life as he parried her attack with his scythe. The clash of their weapons sent shockwaves rippling through the air, distorting reality itself.

They moved with blinding speed, exchanging blows that shattered the ground beneath them. My sister's dark energy clashed with Kai's multiversal power, each strike sending ripples through space and time. It was like watching two titans battle, their power shaking the very fabric of existence.

Despite her ferocity, Kai seemed to have the upper hand. He moved with a fluid grace, his every motion precise and calculated. My sister, for all her strength, was struggling to keep up.

"Enough of this," Kai said, his voice cutting through the chaos. "I'm done playing."

With a swift motion, he swung his scythe in a wide arc, creating a tear in reality itself. The tear expanded, forming a portal that seemed to lead to another dimension entirely. My sister stumbled back, her eyes widening in shock.

"You can't be serious," she muttered, staring at the portal.

"I'm very serious," Kai replied, his tone deadly. "Now, stand down, or I'll send you through that portal, and you won't like where it leads."

For a moment, my sister hesitated, her eyes flicking between Kai and the portal. Then, with a growl of frustration, she lowered her weapon, the dark energy around her fading.

"You've made your point," she said, her voice cold. "But don't think this is over, Kai. You may be on par with our father, but that doesn't mean you can stop me forever."

Kai didn't respond, his eyes locked on her as she turned and disappeared into the shadows. As the portal closed behind her, he finally turned to me, his expression softening.

"Are you alright, Nova?" he asked, kneeling beside me.

I nodded weakly, the pain in my ribs throbbing with every breath. "Yeah, I'll be okay."

Kai nodded, helping me to my feet. "Good. You've got a lot of potential, Nova. Don't let her get to you. You're stronger than you think."

I looked at him, still processing everything that had happened. "Thanks, Kai. I appreciate it."

He gave me a small smile, his Multiverse Halo fading away. "No problem. Just remember, strength isn't everything. It's how you use it that counts."

As Kai helped me to my feet, the pain in my ribs flared with every movement. Anger boiled within me, and memories of the day I thought he killed my mother flooded back, the shock still fresh in my mind. I tore my arm away from him, my eyes burning with fury.

"How are you still alive?" I demanded, my voice shaking with rage. "You killed my mother! I know you ordered those men to. You took my life away from me; I felt my soul leaving my body! How can you just stand here and act like nothing happened? Why are you even helping me?"

Kai's face remained calm, but there was a flicker of something in his eyes—regret, maybe, or sadness. He sighed deeply, as if preparing for something he had dreaded for a long time.

"I didn't kill your mother, Nova. Not in the way you think," he said quietly. "It's time you knew the truth about your past—about your mother and why everything happened the way it did."

"What truth?" I spat, the anger still coursing through me. "What could possibly explain why you did what you did? Why you destroyed Earth, why you killed her. Forget Earth; you ordered her death."

Kai looked me in the eyes, his expression sincere. "Your mother, Nova… she wasn't just any vampire. She was the eldest daughter of the Vampire King and Queen, your real parents. She saw through their disturbing nature, the darkness that lurked within them. She knew what they wanted to turn you into—a copy of themselves."

My breath caught in my throat. My mother, the eldest daughter of the Vampire King and Queen? It made no sense. She was my older sister. It explained why she was always so protective.

"She took you far away from them," Kai continued, his voice steady. "She used every ounce of her power to cloak you both from their sight, to hide you from their influence. She wanted you to have a chance at a life free from their control, free from the darkness that consumed your parents."

The rage that had filled me began to waver, replaced by confusion and a sinking dread. "Why did you lie then? Why did you have to destroy Earth?"

Kai's expression hardened, his eyes darkening with the weight of his words. "Your mother's camouflage was strong, but it wasn't perfect. Eventually, your real parents found you. They sent several vampires, including Liora, to retrieve her. But when your mother didn't comply, your father ordered them to take her captive. He then demanded that a fake version of her be created and staged a false narrative that humans had killed her—an act that was orchestrated by me."

My heart pounded in my chest, the gravity of Kai's revelations sinking in.

"But before that could take place," Kai continued, "your mother—and I should say your sister—and I met. We discussed what to do next. She anticipated your father's actions and suggested a plan. She wanted to make it appear as if you were left alone, hoping you would grow stronger on your own, which you eventually did. She never explained the full details to me; she just knew it was the best way to protect you from their darkness."

The realization hit me hard. "And you… you lied to me? You destroyed Earth to manipulate me?"

Kai's face softened, a hint of sorrow in his eyes. "Yes, I was instructed to play the role of a villain to drive you beyond your limits. I was to fake my own death to motivate you to explore the Universe and uncover the truth about yourself. I'm deeply sorry for the deception. I did it because I loved your sister, and we were about to be engaged. I never wanted you to suffer, but I had no choice."

I stared at him, the intensity of my emotions mixing into a storm of confusion and betrayal. "So, all of this… it was for what? To make me stronger? To what end?"

Kai's gaze was steady. "To protect you and prepare you for the inevitable confrontation with your father. Your sister and I sought to shield you from the corruption and darkness that ruled our world. She's not dead, by the way. Your real father, her father, captured her. She's imprisoned somewhere, still alive but trapped."

The weight of his words left me reeling. My world had been turned upside down, and now I had to come to terms with the fact that my sister—the one I thought was my mother—had sacrificed everything to protect me.

I felt a deep pang of sorrow and a new resolve. "Then I have to find her. I need to bring her back and put an end to the darkness that has consumed our lives. If she sacrificed everything for me, then I have to honor her sacrifice."

Kai nodded solemnly. "That's the path you must take. And as for me, I'll help you in any way I can. But first, you need to heal and prepare. There's much more to uncover, and the journey ahead will be perilous."

With these revelations, I knew my journey had taken on a new dimension. The battle was no longer just about my own strength or the immediate threats I faced. It was now about a deeper legacy, a family torn apart by dark forces, and a mission to bring light to the shadows that had haunted my life.
