"Why did I have to open my big mouth?" Tsukiko muttered, her voice tinged with regret. Holding a subordinate of a Satan's sister hostage and challenging the Satans themselves—what was she thinking? The power gap was massive; like an ant daring a god to battle.
She sighed, a bitter smile playing on her lips. "If only cats actually had multiple lives."
She continued walking aimlessly around the city for hours, unsure of how to continue or how much time she had left.
"Maybe they won't bother to come at all" Tsukiko thought to herself, she sighed, her breath cloudy even though it wasn't cold. She knew that wouldn't be the case.
As night fell, the city's usual hum faded into an unsettling silence. No cars, no chatter, nothing. The temperature had fallen drastically, and the atmosphere had turned haunting—Suddenly, laughter echoed around her, making her jump.
"The little kitten bit off more than she could chew," a voice teased, disembodied and mocking.
"Who's there?" Tsukiko demanded, her body tense, ready to flee at a moment's notice.
"Relax," the voice replied, amused. "I'm only here to kill you."
Tsukiko's eyes turned to slits and she immediately started running, trying to escape. The city around her rippled like water. Tsukiko blinked, and when she reopened her eyes, she was no longer in the city.
As she looked around her new surroundings, she saw what looked to be a normal forest covered completely in ice.
She climbed up a tree, almost falling down from the ice multiple times, and when she reached the top and looked around, she saw something that looked like it was thought of in a dream.
The ice stretched as far as the eye could see. Not only in the forest but even the mountains were completely frozen. As she looked upon the frozen land around her the ground shook, as if an earthquake had struck and a giant ice worm burst from the ground and into the sky in the distance.
The worm was dozens of kilometers wide—hundreds long. As it fell back to the ground and dug back into the earth an even bigger earthquake occurred causing Tsukiko to fall off the tree and onto the ground.
When she looked up from where she had fallen she saw a tall woman sitting upon a throne made of ice suspended midair looking down at her.
The woman slowly stood and started walking down towards her, stairs of ice appearing beneath her black heels as she made her way down.
Tsukiko quickly stood up and tried to run but her feet were frozen to the ground, not allowing her to move anywhere.
As the woman came In front of her, she took Tsukiko's chin into her hand and moved her head around, inspecting her face.
"So you are the one who attacked my sister..." She said in a deep and calm voice that sounded just like the voice Tsukiko had heard before. "Interesting."
Realizing the woman was one of the four Satans made Tsukiko's eyes widen.
"What's wrong?" The woman asked. "Did you expect you'd have more time?" She questioned again.
"Well I'm sorry to disappoint, but your life ends now," as soon as the woman said that a spike of ice passed through Tsukiko's spine and out her stomach.
As she tried to scream her mouth was frozen shut. "Screaming ruins the atmosphere. Let's keep this elegant, shall we?" The woman asked in a soothing voice.
Tears started flowing down Tsukiko's cheeks from both fear and pain. "Shhhhh. It'll all be alright." The woman said as ice started spreading throughout Tsukiko's entire body.
She desperately thrashed around trying to do anything she could to stop the ice from spreading but her attempts were futile as they seemed to only quicken the ice's spread.
Tsukiko tried using her claws to break the ice but she couldn't even leave a scratch on it. Tsukiko tried to speak and beg for mercy but all that came out were muffled cries.
Soon only her head remained unfrozen, the rest of her body a statue of ice. "Before you die, I want the last thing you remember to be my name" the ground shook in a familiar fashion, "Serafall."
Serafall quickly teleported away in blue and black brilliance right before an ice worm burst from right under Tsukiko, devouring her whole and killing her.
The last thing she saw being the frozen, unmoving sky.
