Seris descended the stairs with elegant poise, her silver hair glinting under the chandelier light. As she reached the living room, she tilted her head at the unexpected sight before her.
There, lounging rather awkwardly on the sofa, was Jane.
"Jane? What are you doing here?" Seris asked, her voice calm but curious.
Jane immediately stiffened at the sound of her voice. Slowly, she turned her head and forced a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes.
"Ahh, Queen Seris… I'm just here to explore this realm. You know, sight-seeing."
Seris blinked, clearly unconvinced. Her eyes narrowed slightly.
"Since when do you enjoy exploring? From what Margaret told me, you preferred staying in the palace rather than wandering unfamiliar places."
Jane's lips twitched as her cover story wobbled.
"N-No! I mean, yes—I didn't like exploring before, but now… now I want to see the world where our race once lived. It's… interesting."
Seris studied her for a moment, then nodded.
