Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Memories Lingering in the Darkness

Tension filled the air between Auren and Lisea. Their eyes met, full of deep despair. In each of their hearts, an unspoken feeling echoed—a relationship once full of trust now shattered.

Lisea gripped her sword tightly, but her body felt weak, not as strong as before. Auren, though his heart was broken, knew that this path was inevitable. With a steady step, he approached. The power controlled by the system had taken over him, and human choices had long since vanished.

> "Lisea," Auren's voice was hoarse, filled with unspoken pain. "I don't want to do this, but I have to. This is a fate I cannot avoid."

>

But Lisea, still believing there was hope to save her friend, stepped forward, holding her sword tightly.

> "Auren, you can still come back! I won't give up on the friend we've known!"

>

However, before Lisea could raise her sword higher, Auren moved faster than imaginable. The sharp blade plunged directly into Lisea's chest, piercing with surprising force. Blood flowed profusely, soaking the ground beneath them.

Lisea looked at Auren with blurring eyes, but there was a stillness in her heart. A bitter realization emerged. She knew—this encounter was the end of everything.

> "Auren..." Lisea whispered, her voice full of confusion and despair, yet she knew that this was the path her friend had to take. "Why... why did you have to do this?"

>

Auren stood tall, his gaze empty, yet there was an invisible flicker of pain in his eyes.

> "Lisea, you are my true friend. Even if I walked a brighter future, I would marry you, but my future is a darkness darker than this night."

>

Lisea fell, her body growing weaker, and she felt her blood continue to flow, her body beginning to lose consciousness. Before everything went dark, the one thing she felt was the reality that Auren was no longer himself—the friend who was once so close had now turned into an enemy that had to be stopped.

However, before the world truly went dark, Lisea managed a faint smile.

> "Auren, if there's only one thing I can give you, it's a prayer for your future. I will always remember you."

>

Auren stood still, the sword still in his hand, his body feeling burdened by the deadly decision. But in his heart, there was a deepening emptiness—was this what fate intended?

In the silence that enveloped them, Auren looked at Lisea's body lying on the ground. And although he knew that this was the predetermined path, he couldn't avoid the profound sense of loss.

In the distance, footsteps were heard. Someone emerged from the darkness, witnessing everything with a look of astonishment. General Zehnar, who had been observing from afar, now appeared. He wasn't surprised, but there was a smile on his face that held deep meaning.

> "Auren, you have chosen your path." He said softly, as if understanding perfectly what had happened.

>

Auren looked at the General, but his heart felt emptier than before.

> "I... I don't know who I am anymore." Auren said, his voice full of doubt, yet a new determination began to emerge within him. "But I must walk this path."

>

With Lisea's body lying there, Auren realized that the journey ahead would not only be filled with battles but also with greater sacrifices. No more friends. No more companions. Now, there was only solitude guiding him towards a dark destiny.

What will happen next to Auren? Will he complete his mission, or is there another path awaiting him beyond the shadows of unavoidable fate?
