Chapter 12 - Threatening the reporters

Chen Yiran's voice rang out, sharp and unyielding, slicing through the deafening noise. The sheer force of it made the reporters flinch, some even taking a step back. They were momentarily taken aback, hesitated, but only for a second.

Then, just as quickly, the chaos erupted again. The unending questions.

"Miss Chen, just one statement!"

Chen Yiran's patience was already wearing thin, but with Azalea still crying in her arms, her frustration hit its limit. She took a deep breath, she knew it was either she answered their questions or no peace.

"Wait!" she ordered, her voice firm.

Surprisingly, that one word was enough to make them pause, if only out of curiosity.

She adjusted her grip on Azalea, wiping her tears before pressing a gentle kiss to her baby's forehead before looking up, her expression hard.

"I am not posting the video," she stated, her tone leaving no room for argument.

A ripple of murmurs spread through the crowd.

"Why?" someone called out.

Chen Yiran's gaze swept over them, unwavering, "Because, it was immature of me," she admitted, "I made that decision in the heat of the moment, but I've realized now, I want my daughter's life to be private."

"Is Mo Yeji the new CEO of Chassy Miss?"

'What is that? A company?' Chen Yiran thought before answering.

"She's not."

There was no way Mo Yeji was a CEO of Chen Yiran's company and if she was she wasn't going to let her stay.

"What's your reason behind deleting your social's accounts?"

"They are my account! Am I limited to what I can do with my personal accounts?"

"What is..." She cut them off, The questions didn't seem they were ending anytime soon.

Her gaze darkened, and her next words came out laced with frustration, "And you all, you're being unbelievably rude. My daughter, she's crying, she's scared and you're still standing here, shoving cameras in her face like she's some kind of spectacle."

Chen Yiran's tone turned icy, "If I had my phone I'd take your pictures and make sure you get punished. This needs to stop!" The reporters lowered their cameras. On the account of hot gossip they seemed to have forgotten about the rules. The Wang family was untouchable and they made the young mistress cry.

Chen Yiran didn't wait for another reaction nor another second. With Azalea still crying in her arms, she turned on her heel and started walking.

Some of the reporters instinctively stepped aside, sensing the tension rolling off her waves. Others, too caught up in their desperation for a final shot, didn't move fast enough, only to be shoved aside as Myles and the security guards forced a path through the crowd.

Myles had already pushed his way in between the reporters the moment Chen Yiran had started speaking. Now with security reinforcing his presence, he made sure no one got too close.

Chen Yiran barely spared the press another glance. Her entire focus was on Azalea, rocking her gently, whispering soft reassurances as she tried to calm her down.

The flashing light didn't stop, nor did the rapid clicks of cameras capturing her every movement, as if they could somehow squeeze one last story out of her silence. She walked away, her back straight, her grip on Aza firm.

Chen Yiran slid into the car, the door barely shutting before it sped off. But the real problem wasn't outside anymore, it was inside.

Azalea was still crying, her tiny face scrunched up in distress, her tiny body shaking in panic. Chen Yiran held her close, whispering soothing words, rocking her gently, But nothing worked.

She had refused to bring the assigned bodyguards, thinking it would give Azalea some peace. Instead she had unknowingly put her in a situation far worse.

The flashing lights, the shouting, the chaos, It had overwhelmed her baby completely and it was her fault. If she was accompanied by the guards, This would never had happened!

Chen Yiran's heart twisted as she tried to breastfeed her, hoping the comfort would soothe her. But Azalea wouldn't latch. She was too worked up, her tiny hands trembling, her sobs breaking into hiccups.

The pain from the injection. The shock of the phone hitting her already sore thigh. The fear from all the noise.

It was too much!

Chen Yiran's own eyes stung as she kissed Aza's forehead.

Mo Yeji arrived at the hospital and parked discreetly, keeping herself hidden as she waited for the chaos to unfold. 'Any minute now, Chen Yiran would be trapped in a mess she couldn't escape from' she thought.

Mo Yeji drummed her fingers against the steering wheel, the irritation bubbling as she checked the time. Twenty damn minutes!

Where was the chaos? The screaming? The panic?

She grabbed her phone and called Gu Wange, the reporter she gave the exclusive news.

"What the hell is going on? Is she still inside?" she demanded the second the call connected.

"Oh! Miss Chen left a while ago."

Mo Yeji's grip tightened around the phone, "What?!" Her voice sharpened, "And you're just telling me this now? Stupid fuck! What the hell do I even keep you around for?"

"I'm sorry, There was a mess- reporters, cameras, the baby crying, she didn't stay long." Gu Wange said.

Mo Yeji exhaled sharply through her nose, gripping the wheel tighter. She has planned for Chen Yiran to struggle, to be overwhelmed, to break under pressure. But instead, she got away without a scratch?

"Do you think I care?"

"Miss Chen threatened to get us all punished," Then as if remembering something, she added, "and she something about you."

Mo Yeji's eyes narrowed, "Go straight to the point." she cursed "What did she say?"

"That you're not the CEO of Chassy Miss. That she never appointed you."

Mo Yeji stilled. Then without thinking, she hurled her phone onto the passenger seat and slammed her palm against the steering wheel. The horn blared, but all she could hear was the blood rushing in her ears. She wanted Chassy Miss, Chen Yiran's lipstick company and when she gave her to hold it for her till she gave birth, she named it hers and didn't want to give it back.

"That Bitch!"

She shouted that it attracted some passerbys. She had this angelic, innocent like image that she didn't want ruined, so she drove off.
