Chapter 22 - 22

Kaiden's POV

Last night was one hell of a crazy night. When I was done devouring her like a gentle guy that I'm not, I lay beside her and held her tight in my arms as she slept soundly.

I stared at her face and got engrossed in it.

I can't believe I still didn't want to let her go after the sex.

It's not my beast this time around; it's just me. All my beast would want is to feed on her and devour her both inside and out.

But I am personally desiring the body and soul of this daring blonde. I want to always feel the warmth from her breath and skin. I don't want her to be far away from me.

Her breath fanned my face as her chest rose and fell steadily in her deep slumber.

She's so beautiful, a gay man could get lost in her beauty. Still, I, of all people, shouldn't have fallen for that.

"I am the vampire Lord, Kaiden; this mere human can't get me feeling this way." I realized this and drew her away from my arms and carefully placed her properly in bed.

She slept off immediately after the intimacy. She didn't dress up. I covered her up with the bedsheets and stared at her face for a moment before heading to my study. I need to distance myself from her. She looks ordinary, yet she makes me feel restless.

I got into my study and still couldn't stop thinking about her. The thought of this got me angry.

My mind went to Damon; we will surely meet in the morning and make him talk.

There's something off about this daring blonde. I doubt she's an ordinary member of his clan. The thought of this alone made my anger rise. She's really making my mind perturbed. How dare she!

I stayed in my study and stepped out when I noticed she was awake.

She stepped down from bed and bowed her head immediately she sighted me. Still, seeing her afraid of me didn't calm me.

I couldn't stop thinking of how she had made me restless and long for her. As these thoughts came, the anger in me kept on rising.

I demanded her absence in distress, angrily not wanting to keep seeing her face. I need to think straight. And for that to happen, she needs to leave.

She got dressed in haste and made to leave, but I held her wrist and stopped her when she got to my side.

I stared right into her eyes to speak some sense into her skull. I don't want her to think I was really down for her.

She looked shocked, hurt, and, at the same time, scared. Yet she controlled the tears from rolling. That's when I found out she's also mad at herself.

I let go of her wrist when I was done passing my words to her, and she scurried out instantly.

When I saw that she was out of sight, I went to the couch in the room and sat on it. I rested my back and tried to calm down by closing my eyes while facing the ceiling.

Like a dream, I saw her bright smile. An angry buffalo would be as gentle as a dove at the sight of her warm smile.

I sniffed the air in the room and gently opened my eyes. I miss her, and I wish she could come back to me. But it hurts so much that I can only keep imagining that.

I got up from the couch and headed to the bar area in my chamber. I took a bottle of vodka and drank directly from the bottle. I keep on drinking from it non-stop. I can't stop thinking about her-my dead mate.

I drank five bottles non-stop and was about to drink from the sixth one when I felt her presence. She approached me and grabbed the bottle away from me.

"Hey!" I heard her say.

"What are you doing here?" I muttered to her calmly.

"You know you can't get drunk or sober. Till when were you actually planning to stop drinking from the bottle, huh?

"I miss her, and I want her back." I blurted out to her, catching her off guard.

"Don't make me sad too," she said on the verge of tears, and hugged me.

I snapped out of my imaginary world immediately when I realized Jacy wouldn't like seeing us both like this.

"Hey, it's okay. Don't you dare prove to me you're a baby now?" I said to her, and she immediately disengaged from the hug and cleaned the little droplets of tears on her lower lids with her metacarpals.

"Did you have to make me snap out by saying that, huh?" She asked, glaring at me.

"It'd make you snap out faster." I said, and she made a "whatever" look.

"So what brought you here?" I asked.

"Well, it's about Damon and his followers. It's 5 p.m. already, and you're yet to go visit them." She said.

"Let's go visit them by 8 p.m." I said to her.

"That's not going to work, Kay," I heard her say, and that made me furrow my brows at her.

"Don't tell me you've got plans with him." I asked her.

"Well, not just him, but Stacy too." She added the last part, and that got me arching my brow. I needed more explanation.

"What do you mean with the daring blonde too?" I asked to clarify what she just said.

"No one's going to harm her; don't worry. It's just a random night party," she said, winking.

"I don't care if she's harmed, but only I have the right to do that. Do you get it?"

"Sure, Lord," she answered, and sat beside me at the bar table.

"Anything else?" I asked her when I saw sitting.

"I'm just curious about one thing," she said, holding back her words.

"Just spit it out, okay?" I told her.

"Did she..."

"You wanna know if she triggered my memories of Jacy, right?" I asked, cutting her off.

"Yeah, you only get lost in her memories on her memorial ceremony. I never knew Stacy could make you act unusual to this extent." She said, simply.

"Of course she could; she's not ordinary." I said to her, and she looked confused.

"You're going to help the JJ brothers handle those vamps in the dungeon starting tomorrow."

"What about Damon?" She asked.

"I'll handle him personally." I told her.

"And mind you, don't go smooching at every angle of the dungeon with Jimmy as you give a helping hand." I said to her.

"I think I can control myself," she said, leaving a quick smile on her face.

"You can't go in until she's out." I and Daisy paused when we heard Jimmy's voice from the door.

"Your bitch is here; I gotta go." Daisy said and vanished right outside, appearing at the entrance of my chamber. She sure likes trouble.

"Was she insisting on going in?" I could hear Daisy ask Jimmy.

"Yes, baby," I heard Jimmy reply to her in a different tone-a tone that says he's all down for her-a tone he must never use to talk to me-a tone similar to a bedroom voice. I paused and wondered if that's truly his voice.

"Are you that horny?" I heard Daisy mumble to Mandy from where I was sitting.

"Yes, and I'm going to make him fuck me hard, making sure I give him in sevens." Mandy answered boldly, not feeling ashamed a bit.

"You're going to snap out of the dream soon, bitch," Daisy said, and she vanished, leaving just Mandy and Jimmy at the door.

"You can go..." Before Jimmy could finish forming his sentence, Mandy held the door handle and stormed in angrily.

Still in my sitting position at the bar, I could hear her shoes make a crazy noise as she approached me angrily.

When she got to me, she bowed and quickly put on a smile. What a promiscuous bitch!

"Why are you here?" I asked her calmly.

"At least look at me when you talk," she requested.

"If you have nothing important to say, you can make use of the door."

"Don't you miss me, huh?" She asked and tried to put her hands on my lap, but I gave her a dangerous stare before she could land those hands of hers.

"From henceforth, you shouldn't be seen here if you're needed." I uttered to her, firmly.

"I hope everything is well with you, Kay." She asked, looking confused.

"If I hear you call me that again, trust me, you'll lose your hair. Now leave!" I raised my voice at her.

She noticed the anger in my tone and quickly scurried out of the room without saying a word. She sure knows what I can do if she dares get on my nerves, especially when I'm in a not-so-good mood like I am right now.

When she was out of sight, I got up from the bar chair and headed to the bathroom to take a bath. I'm a mess.

I got to the bathroom and found out the bath tub wasn't filled, so I came back to the room and summoned Lauretha.

She arrived in my chamber in exactly 6 minutes. She saw how I looked and headed straight to the bathroom.

She came out when she was done and came to sit beside me in bed.

"Hey kid," she said, placing her hand on my shoulder.

I looked up at her, and all I wanted was to hug her so tight, but no, I'm no longer the kid she used to know. That kid is now a ruler and won't show any sign of weakness to anyone.

"It's okay, Lauretha; I'll go bathe now," I said, looking up at her, and gave her a short smile.

She nodded in response and set to leave.

I got to the bathroom and dipped myself in the tub after undressing. I rested my head backward and closed my eyes, deep in thoughts.

I know I'll spend less than 2 hours before stepping out of the tub. My mind is so perturbed and restless.
