"Contrario!!" I screamed, my voice cracking as I hit my knees beside him.
His body was heavy in my arms, limp, too limp and blood soaked through his shirt like ink in water. Stray was crumpled beside him, not moving at all.
No code pulses. No defensive protocols. Just static flickering across its chassis.
I pressed my hand to Contrario's cheeks that were turning cold fast. His skin was so cold.
"Brohn!" I barked.
"I've got him!" Brohn scooped Stray up like dead weight, struggling to keep balance under the sheer bulk of the avatar. "We gotta move…..now!"
Kage and Yulian had already cleared a path. Renn ran ahead, shouting into his comm.
The gates of Irish Valley loomed in the distance, tall and armored in steelwood. As we sprinted toward them, the clan guards on watch caught sight of us....of him and dropped everything.
"Get the gates open!" Renn roared. "We need medics...NOW!"
