Chapter 20: Journey to Devlok – The Test of Wisdom

Rudra's travels took him beyond Bharatvarsh, to the divine realms where few mortals had ever set foot. Through his Yogic mastery, he perceived a call from Devlok, the celestial abode of the Devas. Guided by his Supreme Perception, he reached the banks of the holy river Mandakini, where a radiant bridge of light manifested before him. As he stepped onto it, he felt his body being transported into a divine plane.

Upon his arrival, Rudra found himself in the court of Lord Indra, surrounded by celestial sages, Gandharvas, and Apsaras. Indra, intrigued by the boy hailed as Maharishi at such a young age, decided to test Rudra's wisdom and dharmic understanding.

"Baal Rishi Rudra," Indra spoke, his voice carrying the weight of thunder, "Tell me, what is the greatest virtue a ruler must possess?"

Rudra folded his hands in namaskara and replied, "A ruler must uphold Dharma above all else. Power without righteousness leads to destruction. Compassion, justice, and unwavering truth are the pillars upon which a kingdom must stand."

Indra smiled, but another challenge awaited. The celestial sage Brihaspati, Guru of the Devas, stepped forward. "Wisdom is meaningless without action. If a ruler faces a choice where both paths lead to suffering, what should he do?"

Rudra pondered deeply before responding, "A true ruler must choose the path that minimizes suffering for the greater good. If both choices lead to pain, he must bear the greater burden himself to protect his people."

Brihaspati nodded approvingly. The celestial court was impressed by the young sage's profound wisdom. As a reward, Rudra was granted a boon by the Devas—he received the 'Indra Netra Darshan,' an ability that allowed him to see all conflicts in the world and guide rulers towards Dharma. With newfound insight, Rudra returned to Bharatvarsh, his reputation soaring even higher.
