Chapter 5 - The Capital

Valtor's steps came to a halt in front of a sloppy cliff. He slammed his feet against one of the trees nearby, to increase the blood flow to the numbed part.

He had no shoes on, and had actually gotten this lost, when he ran through the forest to meet with his grandfather. There was no time to pack up anything, nothing at all. Just the Blobby, the only item given to him.

Now, with the early morning sun rising, he paused to take a deep breath.

His head slowly lifting up to see the Capital up ahead.

It definitely beared all credits—A massive country, guarded by large walls, circulating it all round the perimeter.

Just standing up on the cliff, he could see the Royal palace, Northwest in direction, and the Divine Academy, South. In between, a wide distance from the Palace, few houses were scattered around this spot. It was dedicated to the high mentors of the Divine Academy, one of residential building belonged to Master Gap.

"Blobby! We seem to have made it!" Valtor said, eyes darting sideways to see the motionless blob creature sitting on his shoulder with those two inch eyes wide opened.

"Mama!" It replied without a blink, but a jiggle.

Ever since he had given the Creature a name, it refused leaving his shoulders, rather still, it stayed, sitting without moving—just like a glue bond.

Another thing again, was the stare.

This bluish Divine blob, seemed not to blink, but only stare majority of the time.

Humans has involuntary control over their eyelids, but this blob is something far from different, and also, had an uncomfortable stare to watch. A stare similar to that of a negotiator, wanting to extract every ounce of truth from a criminal.

Anyways, that would be for another day Valtor had planned in discussing about the odd qualities.

Right now, he had to ask what was in mind, "Blobby, you did mention given that, you're a Divine erm... Blob? Won't the others know of you? Especially if it's part of a wide range knowledge?"

"Mama!" Its body jiggled, followed by a more comprehensive words, "I have planned down what to do about the eyes of wandering curious passerbys! My ability is far lesser than yours at any moment, but I still have the upper hand in disguise!."

"Disguise?" Valtor asked, sliding down the cliff. Snow particles flying towards different direction, before a small cloud formed when he landed on the ground level.

"Mama!" Blobby replied, "I have the ability to use 'Ni' energy into converting my form, to take the shape of any Divine weapon or given the energy to be used!"

Valtor nodded without understanding. "And...?"

"I can shrink into a tiny version," The blob demonstrated, turning smaller, before it was no larger than a drop of water.

At this form, it bounced from Valtor's shoulder onto his earlobe, where it stuck there, taking the impression of an ear piercing.

Seeing and knowing this made Valtor even more uncomfortable; The reason Why? , well, it would mean the Blob had grew out those uncomfortable limbs to stick in place, this time, on his earlobe.

Without wanting to think much, he walked closer to the Capital, and soon, knew the meaning of a single word, 'Lively.'

Although Winter, the air made it seemed Summer.

Few guards on uniforms, walked past the main gate, keeping their eyes on the patrol duty, others sat beside, drinking down a beer, taking the Winter's Cold much warmer than ever.

Of course, they paid Valtor no attention, all thanks to the tattered piece of clothing he wore, messed up black hair on his head, and above all, no shoes for his frozen feets.

Most of their thoughts were; 'Oh! A slave boy.'

Another, 'He must work under a Rich lord.'

Then, another, 'Definitely, not one of the gods' chosen.'

'A lost boy? No! A Lost boy won't look so calm or miserable as he does, he must be a messenger.'

Keeping their attention somewhere else, and definitely not on him, made Valtor feel more safe. He knew how tight the security of the Capital is, and for his attention not to be taken into consideration, makes it a more easier fit.

Walking further, and immediately he passed through the City gates, a sparkle rolled through his eyes, an effect from the rising sun, and the surprise kept deep within his chest.

"Wow!" He could only say, eyes watching the busy streets.

From fruits stalls opened for possibilities of a customer, to some group of three walking with a uniform having a badge on its sleeve, to the merchant–guard horses riding on the cobblestone path, The Capital was far different from the Village... The Village... The Village...

Valtor squeezed his eyes shut, not wanting to remember that harsh memory, sealing his eyes shut created a false mirage of calmness, and when he opened them, he mumbled, "Grandpa, don't worry, I'll find Mount Buo and Master Gap! And also, find out who killed you—"

'Grrruuuummmppp!~' his stomach cried out with a rumble.

Valtor quickly cleared his throat to avoid an embarrassing look from the passerbys.

Definitely, he was hungry, tired and weak. Having trekked all the way from Master Zo's brother's house, to the Cottage on the mountains, through the forest and now at the Capital, without a single rest, definitely, hunger would be one of the only say.

"Ahh! Need to eat something," His eyes swept through the sides of the busy streets clean, until it finally landed on a fruit stall opposite, having delicious apples to sell.

He could have gone to beg for one, but he knew fully well, one won't quench such hunger.

So, there was just only one way left. To steal.

"Blobby!"

A quiet answer replied, "Mama?"

"You said something about a transformation technique?"

"Mama!"

"I would want to put to test such skill!."
