Chapter 62 - Chapter 62: Echoes of Destiny

The exit from the crystal chamber slowly revealed itself as the stone walls parted, groaning with ancient force. A corridor lit with soft blue torches extended ahead—an unmistakable sign that they were expected. Nam stepped forward first, the crystal now embedded like a pulse of light in his right palm. Every beat of his heart seemed to sync with its rhythm.

Lan followed close behind, quiet but alert. Neither spoke for a while; the air was heavy with change.

Suddenly, a sound echoed through the corridor—a deep, rhythmic clang, like metal upon metal. Nam and Lan broke into a run. As they turned the corner, they found themselves on a high balcony overlooking a vast underground city. But this city was not ruined. It was alive.

Countless glowing towers rose from the ground, suspended walkways buzzed with energy, and beings—tall, robed figures with translucent skin—moved in precise, synchronized steps. At the center of it all stood a towering obelisk surrounded by a shimmering dome of energy.

"What is this place…?" Lan whispered in awe.

A robed figure approached them silently, its eyes glowing with pale green light. Its voice was clear and layered, as though more than one being spoke at once.

"You have awakened the Heart of Aeon. This city—Aeon's Core—has waited centuries for the return of the bearer."

Nam frowned. "Bearer of what?"

"Of Balance," the figure replied. "The crystal you now carry is one of the Three Pillars. Together, they sustain the Axis of Worlds. One has awakened. Two remain."

Lan stepped forward, wary. "And if all three are not united?"

"Then entropy consumes all. Order collapses. Chaos reigns."

Nam clenched his fist. "So you brought me here to be a hero?"

"No," the figure said, turning toward the city below. "You brought yourself. And you are not a hero. Not yet."

Another sound echoed through the cavern. This time, it wasn't mechanical.

It was a scream.

The robed figure turned sharply. "It has begun."

Below, streaks of red light tore through the air as armored invaders descended from above, wielding dark weapons that shattered the shimmering energy shields. Citizens fled. The city fell into chaos.

Nam didn't hesitate.

He leapt from the balcony, the crystal in his palm igniting in a flash of blinding light. A shimmering set of armor wrapped around him mid-air—sleek, angular, almost alive. He landed hard in the center square, fists clenched, as the enemy forces approached.

Lan followed, drawing the small blade she always kept hidden. Her eyes were fierce.

They fought like they were born for it—Nam's power unleashing waves of force, Lan moving with surgical precision. But there were too many.

A massive figure in black armor landed before them, the ground cracking beneath its weight. Its voice was distorted and cold.

"Bearer of Balance. You are a threat to the Entropy Order. You will be eradicated."

Nam raised his hand. The crystal blazed.

"Then come and try."

As the battle raged on in the heart of Aeon's Core, the echoes of destiny rang through every clash of blade and burst of light. This was no longer just a journey—it was war.
