Chapter 65 - Chapter 65: A Wise Man Does Not Stand Beneath a Crumbling Wall

By this calculation, the twin sisters should be even older than Jingliu. If Jingliu is over 1,800 years old, then Xueyi and Hanyue must be over 2,000 years old.

Typically, the older the protagonist of a script is, the greater the time span of the scenario.

After all, simulations involve inserting oneself into and altering the trajectory of another's life. Inserting too late would render any changes meaningless.

The Xueyi sisters participated in the Cangcheng campaign. The elder sister, Xueyi, had her physical body absorbed by the Thousand-Faced Tree form of Shuhu, becoming one of the fruits upon its branches.

Later, the sisters were rescued by General Tengxiao.

After the Cangcheng campaign, Xueyi—now bodiless—was reconstructed into an indestructible puppet form, becoming a judge specialized in combat and apprehension. Meanwhile, Hanyue drank the River of Forgetfulness wine and used dream divination to interpret the karmic currents of the Xianzhou natives, predicting the emergence of Mara.

For every major criminal Xueyi captures, she earns half a day of temporary "resurrected" freedom.

Hanyue spends most of her time lying in a coffin, practicing her dream divination.

Each time, Xueyi gives her half-day of freedom to her younger sister, allowing her to leave the coffin and walk outside.

And each time, Hanyue gives her half-day back to Xueyi to compensate for the damage to her puppet body.

This way, Xueyi and Hanyue are trapped in an endless cycle, unable to escape for the rest of their lives.

Solon suspected that the Ten-Lords Commission did this precisely to control two highly useful tools.

The sisters were exceptionally talented, each other's weakness, easy to manipulate, and—most crucially—deeply grateful. Despite being exploited to death by the Ten-Lords Commission, they remained utterly devoted. They were, without a doubt, premium-grade tools.

Judging by these methods, the Ten-Lords Commission was cold and ruthless, willing to resort to any means necessary.

There were rumors that the Ten-Lords had long since become something akin to artificial intelligences. Perhaps there was some truth to that.

Solon began weighing whether offending the sisters in the simulation would be worth it.

This was a rare script, clearly offering high rewards—tempting indeed. But the corresponding risks were also substantial.

The risk wasn't in the simulation itself. Even if he died there, he could just restart. It was only the beginner difficulty; a few more attempts would guarantee success.

The real risk lay in reality.

These two sisters were nothing like the easygoing Qingque.

Especially Xueyi. Her puppet body made her highly resistant to poison, and she excelled in tracking and combat. Moreover, her artificial form made her utterly fearless in battle.

Many criminals stronger than her had fallen into her hands.

The only silver lining was that the sisters weren't free—especially Xueyi. A single major criminal only bought her half a day of liberty.

Solon quickly made up his mind.

As the saying goes: A wise man does not stand beneath a crumbling wall.

He immediately used the Jade Abacus to purchase a ticket online for a ship heading to a nearby vacation planet.

The Ten-Lords Commission specialized in handling those on the verge of Mara, so they had extensive authority when it came to tracking people down. Finding Solon's information would be trivial for them.

However, without concrete evidence, this was a private matter. They couldn't issue a warrant for him—the sisters would have to come after him personally.

Their time was limited. At best, they could search around the Luofu, but it was highly unlikely they could pursue him beyond it.

He could easily hide outside the Luofu, run the simulation, and return once the heat died down—or once he grew strong enough.

It wasn't that he feared Xueyi and Hanyue. Rather, their status made them untouchable.

They were immune to poison, held key positions in the Xianzhou's critical departments, and were essentially prickly hedgehogs—impossible to strike or kill.

Dealing with them would be tantamount to provoking the entire Xianzhou Alliance.

If not for the tempting rewards of their script, Solon would have switched scenarios long ago.

If I can't afford to provoke them, can't I at least avoid them?

After confirming there were no oversights, Solon decisively headed to the Starwatcher Avenue and boarded a starship, leaving the Luofu behind.

Before departing, he hesitated for a moment, then took out his Jade Abacus and dialed Guinaifen.

"Hey, babe—I'm going on a trip. Wanna come along?"

On the other end, Guinaifen clearly hesitated.

"Boss, I'm really sorry, but I've got younger siblings to take care of. I can't leave the Luofu right now."

"Alright, no worries. Take care of yourself, don't overwork your streams. See you in a month."

Solon wasn't surprised. In Guinaifen's heart, family mattered far more than an outsider like him.

He was just being polite anyway. Officially, this was a vacation—but in reality, he was evading potential pursuit.

In such a situation, the fewer loose ends and clues left behind, the harder it would be to track him.

"See you later, Boss. Have a safe trip!"

Hanging up, Guinaifen let out a long sigh of relief. Finally, she could breathe—even if only temporarily.

On the other end, Solon ended the call without a shred of sentimentality and boarded the starship leaving the Luofu.

Before long, the ship slowly passed through the Jade Gate and vanished into the starry expanse.

Having finally escaped the Luofu for a vacation, Solon wasn't about to skimp on himself.

He had booked a first-class ticket on an interstellar passenger ship operated by the Interastral Peace Corporation.

The ship's interior was vast, and the IPC knew how to monetize space.

Solon's first-class suite covered approximately 200 square meters, complete with a private bathroom—featuring a bathtub large enough for two or three—and a living area with a small bar.

The decor was the pinnacle of luxury, and dedicated service was included.

The attendant assigned to Solon was a stunningly beautiful foxian woman with a curvaceous figure and a honeyed voice.

Perhaps drawn to his handsome face and obvious wealth, she hinted that she could provide certain special services during this short journey.

Solon, of course, had zero interest in such a random NPC and politely declined.

After sending Miss NPC away, he sprawled comfortably on the sofa, adjusted his posture to maximum relaxation, and pulled up the system interface.

The familiar trait selection screen appeared once more. This time, the system offered the following:

[Half-Son of Yaoshi (Gold)]

Your relationship with the Aeon of Abundance, Yaoshi, is extraordinarily intimate—so much so that They regard you as half a son. Even the so-called "most selfless" of Aeons casts upon you more attention, favor, and trust.

(This trait is a beginner-difficulty bonus and cannot be selected upon completion.)

[Honeyed Words (Purple)]

Your eloquence is peerless. Your speech is captivating, your rhetoric dazzling, capable of seizing your audience's attention utterly.

If preaching Buddhist teachings, miraculous phenomena may manifest—lotus blossoms spilling from your lips, golden lotuses rising from the earth, celestial flowers raining from the sky…

When such phenomena occur, listeners with weak willpower may suffer reduced intellect—or even be converted on the spot.

[Shameless (Blue)]

As the saying goes: "No one can defeat the truly shameless." When you cast aside all face, you become invincible. Increases willpower but decreases others' favorability toward you.

[Indestructible Body (Purple)]

Through ascetic training, your physical form has evolved to another level—impervious to blades, untouched by fire or water. Grants complete immunity to attacks from Pathstriders and 20% damage reduction against attacks from Emanators.

(Note: Similar strengthening effects do not stack.)
