Morning came in a blink of an eye.
The sun began to appear over the horizon, bringing welcoming warm rays to the land. The first rays of sun were not the beginning of the warmth.
It was already scorching hot before the sun had even peeked through the horizon. The stagnant heat was quite thrilling.
Oh my Buddha! Where did this trifling heat come from?
As the sunshine tickled their noses, they ate the hearty meals on their plates.
"Roy, don't forget who you are. You must work hard while there and make your father and I proud."
The young Roy nodded now absorbed in his parents' teachings.
Little Roy was 13 years old. He should be in school, but the few times they sent him to school, he couldn't understand anything at all.
He felt he was too stupid for school, resulting in him choosing to stay back and farm. He felt there was no need to waste the few savings his parents had.
Rather than going to school, he preferred learning a trade.
In the city, some could be Mechanics, carpenters, you name it. They went to strange schools that only taught trades.
Aren't there many wealthy and great people who didn't complete school?
The moment they understood the trade they were interested in, they focused on it till they made it big. Roy knew his parents were secretly disappointed, and had always wanted to prove to them that farming was also a noble job.
What's wrong with being a farmer?
He knew farmers in the country were poorer than the majority of other jobs out there. But so what? It was something he knew and believed he could do very well.
Just because there's no true breakthrough or true farmer who was a millionaire in today's society, didn't mean it could not be done.
Although he thought so, a greater part of him also felt it would be impossible. But who knew he would live to the day when he saw such a thing happen right before his very eyes.
Big brother Gort did it!
He chose farming and agriculture to make money. Not just simple money… crazy money that could make the dead rise from their graves.
After gobbling down his meal, Roy hurried to the company's grounds for his first day at work.
.
Day 1.
"One two three! One two three!"
Across the village, one could hear the sounds of guards and young day shift workers, jogging around in unison before their shift began.
Have you ever seen a job that requires that 2 hours out of the 6 hours be used for body strengthening and training?
If they didn't know any better, they would have thought their Boss Gort was preparing for some upcoming war.
There were 2 training sessions a day: one before the morning shift, and one before the afternoon shift began. They were to get their asses here and train, no matter what.
"Pay attention to your legs!"
"Keep them straight and tuck in your blue!"
"What the hell are you looking at, huh Knox? That's right, focus on your training and stop wasting everyone's time!"
"Roy, look forward!"
"One two three! One two three!"
Although the group were not particularly large in number, they still managed to look like battalions in training.
Everyone was secretly amazed when seeing Uncle Rufung's legs no longer crippled.
If anything, his body looked tougher and his speed was incredibly fast.
As village people who spent their days working, running and doing all sorts of outdoors activities, they all felt that even they found it hard keeping up with the intense training they were put through.
Hell!
Did they steal Gort's crush or something? Or else why would they be put under such cruelty?
Several people had tears but couldn't cry, as their ducts were now invaded by the salty waters rolling down their foreheads.
Soon, they circled back towards the company, where they resisted for just a few breaths before doing a series of frog jumps.
Pushups, sit-ups, you name it, they did it.
"Good!" Rufung's burly voice echoed across the entire scene. "For so long as you work here, you will keep up with your training 5 times a week, until their bones crack, break and become anew."
What?
Roy almost fell on his face from Rufung's words. He came here to work and not to train for the military. So what was all this?
"No need to look at me like that. These are the requirements pushed down by your Boss. And I, more than anyone else, agree with them."
"Of course, if you find it all too hard to beat, you can leave the company for good at any time!"
A forced melon isn't sweet. So why force them to stay behind? Those who wanted to complain, all swallowed their words innocently.
After proudly leaving home today, you want them to return saying they quit, after day 1? No way!
Like so, Roy toughened his mind up for the long run while heading to the locker room to take a bath and shower.
Woow!
He noticed that before starting work, they were given freshly squashed watermelons and ginseng, blended together at the right proportions to create a super energy drink that boosted their systems.
Incredible!
The fatigue vanished in a second.
Roy felt like he didn't even go through tedious training from before. It was as though he was waking up from bed, in pique conditions now.
'How did brother Gort do it?'
Working in the Greenhouse, Gort felt his farming experience from before was just trash. What sort of fantasy farming was this?
Two (2) days later, he saw the fruits of his labor, and even packed them into trucks in a daze.
Who am I? Where am I? What am I?
