Chakra is a mysterious force.
In the world of shinobi, as long as your chakra pathways remain open, chakra can create just about anything.
For a Jinchūriki, the Tailed Beast sealed within them has many ways of communicating.
Just like when a Jinchūriki allows the Tailed Beast to take control of their body, enabling the beast to speak through them—like how Naruto did with Kurama.
But that's only possible when the Jinchūriki and the Tailed Beast share mutual trust. Otherwise, the Tailed Beast might take advantage of the situation and act unpredictably.
There's also the analogy used in Naruto. Remember when Naruto and Sasuke trained separately for three years and later reunited? Sasuke used the power of his Sharingan to bypass Naruto's mental defenses and forcefully enter his seal space.
The principle behind it isn't complicated.
Mito Uzumaki had used this method too.
After asking Tsunade to step aside, Mito took Yukika's hand. The two of them closed their eyes.
The chakra Yukika had separated from himself followed Mito. After a brief moment of darkness, Yukika opened his eyes again.
What he saw was the unique sealing technique of the Uzumaki clan.
The body of the Nine-Tails was bound in chains within a cage.
Its treatment was clearly worse than what Kurama experienced with Kushina or Naruto.
Mito's ability to control the Nine-Tails chakra so well probably had a lot to do with these massive chains.
Yukika shook his head and walked step by step toward the cage.
As he'd said before, at his core, he didn't believe there was anything inherently wrong with the Nine-Tails.
It was just a fox. It liked to sleep, and it loved to run free under the sun in the world of shinobi.
Was that a sin?
The real problem lay in those who tried to use that power.
Whether it was being summoned by Madara during his fight with Hashirama, or being weaponized in the later chaos, none of it had been Kurama's choice.
In fact, it hated being manipulated.
Of course—
Yukika didn't see the Tailed Beasts as purely innocent either. They were strong. Their very existence was dangerous.
But if they truly trusted you, they could become your most reliable partner.
"Nine-Tails."
Yukika passed through the sixteenth gate of the seal and stood directly before Kurama, placing a hand on the chains that bound him.
Human.
Kurama narrowed his eyes—not hostile, but not warm either.
It was the Nine-Tails, proud as ever.
Even though Yukika harbored no malice and had even spoken on behalf of the Tailed Beasts before, Kurama still didn't trust him.
Trust had to be mutual. And after being treated like a monster by humans for so long, trust was in short supply.
"No—you're not just the Nine-Tails."
Yukika turned back and smiled.
"You're Kurama."
Kurama.
The name given to him by the Sage of Six Paths.
Where had this boy heard that name?
Kurama shot him a puzzled glance but didn't speak.
"Granny Mito," Yukika called out, "can you undo these chains?"
These chains weren't just restraints—they were a conduit, allowing for more effective chakra extraction from Kurama.
But for Mito, they were a constant burden.
If Kurama acted up, Mito had to burn through her chakra to reinforce the seal. A drain and a strain.
Freeing the chains would be beneficial for both Kurama and Mito.
From a distance, Mito nodded and raised her hand slightly.
After all, Yukika's chakra was only partially present inside the seal. Even if Kurama went wild, his real body wouldn't be harmed.
And Mito was right here—ready to reseal him at a moment's notice.
She may have aged, but she was still one of the strongest of the Uzumaki clan.
Mito didn't know exactly what Yukika planned to say to Kurama, but before they entered, her grandson had mentioned it:
If Kurama was willing to cooperate, even losing the Tailed Beast wouldn't mean death.
That was his promise—to stay alive and one day witness the Senju rise again.
"Sit down."
From a distance, Yukika plopped down cross-legged, as if this were his living room—completely at ease.
Truth be told, he hated kneeling.
But from Kurama's perspective, it was awkward.
Technically, this was his turf—even if it was sealed.
Kurama hesitated for a moment, then stretched his limbs.
He had been bound far too long. Whatever—if this kid wanted to undo the chains, so be it.
This human… made sense.
Squatting down, Kurama now resembled Yukika's old husky from his previous life.
Aside from a different fur color and sharper ears, they weren't too different.
Oh, and the extra head.
"Can you make yourself a bit smaller?"
Looking up felt weird. Yukika had grown used to flying above people, being looked up to—not the other way around.
"Brat, don't push it."
Kurama snorted, sounding annoyed.
Yet moments later, even though he grumbled, he lowered his head and laid down.
What a tsundere fox.
Yukika chuckled.
He claimed to know everything about the Naruto world—its truth, its nature.
He knew exactly what Kurama really was.
A lonely beast.
Craving understanding.
A straight-shooter. Not much of a talker. Not a fan of hiding.
So—
"Let's get to the point."
Yukika stared into Kurama's eyes.
"First of all, I want to apologize on Granny Mito's behalf. Being a Jinchūriki isn't easy. I know you've seen that firsthand."
Helplessness?
Kurama scoffed inwardly.
If only his uncle's mental archive of "Uzumaki Naruto & Senju Hashirama Highlights.RMVB" could speak for itself.
Mito used to smile plenty, didn't she?
But from Kurama's point of view, every time he saw Hashirama's face, he wanted to punch it.
Expected reaction.
Kurama's cold sneer didn't escape Yukika.
If he wanted to change the Tailed Beast's view on humans, one speech wouldn't cut it.
He didn't just want Kurama's chakra.
He wanted everything.
True Kurama Chakra Mode.
Even Naruto only ever accessed half of it in the original series.
The other half remained dormant in the harbor.
That power—Yukika needed it.
"Cooperation."
"I want your power—and your partnership."
"In a few days, you'll be leaving Granny Mito's body. But not to be sealed into someone else."
"You'll exist in the outside world again. But only under my supervision."
"You and I will form a contract."
"The term is ten years."
"After that, I'll give you your freedom."
He laid it all out—calm and direct—standing firm before the Nine-Tails.
His gaze burned with ambition, but not with malice.
Tailed Beasts had keen instincts.
Even Naruto's "sense evil intent" ability during the Fourth War was Kurama's doing.
But—
"Brat, what makes you think I'd even consider that?"
Kurama finally spoke.
Suspicion laced every word.
He wasn't stupid. Yukika's meaning was clear:
For ten years, he'd essentially be his companion—partly restrained, partly free.
Only after that would he regain true freedom.
It sounded idiotic.
No Jinchūriki? No host? And still bound?
Ridiculous.
Even Kurama had to admit—it was exactly what he wanted.
But he also believed it to be impossible.
"Why?"
Yukika smiled and slowly stood.
"Because one day, when you walk the shinobi world again, people will call you Lord Nine-Tails!"
"Because you'll be the partner of Senju Yukika, the Black-Winged Archfiend!"
"And even if you gain your freedom, if anyone dares to lay a hand on you—"
"I'll beat them to death."
"From the moment our contract is formed, you'll be my Kurama."
Kurama froze.
This boy…
Had some serious nerve.
Bigger ego than even Kurama himself.
But damn, his words had impact.
And strangely enough… they resonated.
