Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: "Test Week: The Great Battle of English and EVS":

Morning Begins & the Stress of the English Exam

The morning was slightly chilly. Aarav woke up to the chirping of birds. The clock's hands had stopped at 6:15.

His mother had already prepared breakfast — aloo paratha and curd.

Mom (with a loving smile): "Son, you have English today, right? Did you memorize the essay?"

Aarav: "Yes, Mom. The one by Kalam Sir and the one on Environment too."

After finishing his breakfast, Aarav picked up his bag and set out for Shree Shantinath Degree College. His friends were waiting for him again today.

Buzz at the College Gate

Priya, Megha, Meera, Bhavya, and Kanika were standing in a corner doing last-minute revision.

Kanika: "Go over Subject-Verb Agreement once. I'm scared I'll make a mistake."

Meera: "Moods and Modals are different, right?"

Priya: "Yes Meera, and your essay needs a strong introduction."

Megha (looking at Aarav): "Aarav, did you revise the essay from last night?"

Aarav: "Yes... and the idioms you suggested too. Today's preparation is tomorrow's performance!"

The English Exam

Time: 8:30 AM

Papers had been distributed in the classroom. Everyone's minds were calm, but their brains were working rapidly.

Section A: Grammar — Tenses, Articles, Active-Passive, Direct-Indirect

Section B: Essay Writing — "Global Warming" or "My Role Model"

Section C: Letter/Application Writing

Section D: Unseen Passage

Aarav wrote about Kalam Sir. Priya chose the Environment topic. Kanika quickly solved the Seen Passage but got stuck in Grammar.

Meera: "Those two idiom questions were tricky."

Bhavya: "I wrote an application for sick leave — hope it's correct."

As the exam ended, everyone let out a sigh of relief.

Preparing for EVS — Study Session in the Library

Time: 1:30 PM

The whole gang was seated in the Library's Study Hall.

Priya: "Understand Unit 1 — Introduction to Environment and Unit 2 — Ecosystem properly."

Megha: "Yaar, the biodiversity points feel a bit heavy."

Aarav: "Let me explain — biological diversity means the variety of species, genes, and ecosystems."

Meera: "Oh, now I get it. And for the ozone layer topic, we have to remember the causes."

Kanika (while taking notes): "I'm drawing a diagram — it helps visualize better."

Self-Reflection and a Heart-to-Heart at Home

At night, Aarav was sitting in his room. His mom came and sat beside him.

Mom: "How was today's paper?"

Aarav: "It was good, Mom. Just a little worried about EVS."

Mom: "You're putting in effort, son. Don't worry — just stay consistent."

Aarav (with a slight smile): "Yeah Mom, talking to you makes all the fear go away."

Group Message & Planning Ahead

Priya sent a message in the group:

"Everyone come to the library tomorrow at 9 AM — we need to revise Business Comm and Foundation."

Kanika: "Don't forget Business Regulatory Framework too!"

Meera: "Come early everyone... if you're late, coffee's on me!"

Aarav: "Challenge accepted... but we'll drink coffee only after finishing the syllabus!"
