Tears blurred my vision, but I couldn't stop them from falling. My body shook with fear, and my chest hurt with disbelief and desperation. Why did he leave me? Why didn't he take me with him?
Then, the door slammed open, and I froze. The man in the mask was done chasing Jason.
His heavy footsteps echoed in the room as he cursed. His anger filled the space, and I felt it hit me like an electric shock.
"Damn it!" His voice was muffled by the mask, but there was no mistaking the fury in it. "You let him get away?"
The woman in the room with me stiffened. Her hands shook, but she didn't say anything. She just looked nervously between the masked man and me. The fear on her face matched mine.
I tried to make myself as small as possible, pressing against the wall like it could protect me. But there was nowhere to go. Nowhere to hide. I was trapped.
The masked man's voice lowered, cold and dangerous. "I told you to control her. Now look what you've done."
The woman's eyes widened, and for a moment, she looked almost sorry. But then her gaze shifted to me, and I saw hesitation in her eyes. She was scared too.
But it didn't matter.
"Get it done," the masked man ordered, his voice harsh. "Inject her. Now."
A chill of terror washed over me, and I struggled against the restraints, but my body felt weak. Useless. The woman stepped toward me, holding the syringe like it was a weapon.
"No… please…" My voice barely came out, filled with more desperation than I ever thought I could feel.
She didn't look at me. Maybe she couldn't, or maybe she just didn't want to. Her hands trembled as she held the syringe above my skin, like she didn't want to do this either. But the masked man was watching her, cold and unforgiving.
"Do it," he ordered, his voice steady and commanding. "Now."
Her hand shook as she pressed the needle against my skin. I flinched, my breath catching in my throat. My mind screamed at me to move, to fight, but my body wouldn't listen. I couldn't stop this.
I closed my eyes tight, tears streaming down my face as I waited for what was coming.
