Chapter 46 - Best Suited For Someone Else

"Fine, I would." His eyes turned frosty and all he wanted to do was look for a place to sit and stop being the center of attraction.

"I want the exact type." Celine whined with her hand picking at themselves a few inches from her face.

If it wasn't because he was standing right in front of her parents and his mother, he would have glared so hard at her and sent her scurrying away, never to be found an inch close to him.

"Rey?" His mother pressed on.

"I'd get you a few things but not the exact type." He finally said.

"Yes!" Sabrina cheered a little too loudly and gained everyone's attention before clearing her throat and settling down a little too proudly.

"But…" Celine made to whine but her father made an unnecessary cough making both of them look towards him.

Narrowing his eyes at them, he noticed Mrs. Peters tapping on her lap in a rhythmic way and just like he expected, Celine huffed at him before marching off.

When he thought it was finally over, Celine slumped into one of the empty couches and called him.

"I'd take whatever you give but keep your promise." She fluttered her eyes at him after gaining his attention.

"Have a little decency in you girl. Jeez!" Sabrina said a little too loudly but Celine was too focused on the frosty stare of Rey to care.

"Fine." Rey spat and moved to find a place to sit, thinking of what they would possibly talk about as it was already awkward for him as it is.

"Ah ah." His mum shook her head at him.

"We will get moving to the dining room now." She forced a smile at him but he was too unhappy to care that she was unhappy with him.

Not wasting any time, he walked straight into the dinning and found a chair to sit on first, his mother joined him, sitting by his right before tapping his lap subtly under the table.

"That's no way to treat a girl." She had whispered to him in a fast tone as if afraid her visitors would do something bad to her if they walked in on her talking to her son.

"Mum, please." Rey replied bluntly, he wasn't really for a conversation with her, he might end up blowing her plans up and having to endure being guilt-tripped by her for a very long time.

"She is close, stand up and offer her a seat." She whispered in-between her teeth but he sat glued to his chair, only looking back at her at intervals.

Her frowning face and lips pressed together wanted to make him tell her to her face that he was in no mood for the obvious matchmaking she was trying to play out and that he could hold his own.

She poked him again beneath the table but he sat still, looking up right on time to see the mischievous face of Sabrina as she hastened her steps to the empty chair beside him just in time to stop Celine from sitting on it.

"Hey?" Celine called, gripping the chair with a frown on her face.

"Hey you?" Sabrina called back, raising her brows at Celine whose face was now contorted with mock anger.

"I wanted to sit here first." Celine complained, almost stomping her foot on the ground, the frown on her face could form a mountain.

"I touched the seat first." Sabrina whined back with a mischievous pout that Rey almost found himself doubling over the table and laughing his guts out.

"But you knew I was about to sit here first."

"And you knew he was my brother and not yours."

"Rey!" Celine called out to Rey for help, her frustration boldly pronouncing itself on her face.

"Rey!" Sabrina copied but in a more irritated tome, mimicking Celine and showing just how irritated she was.

"Stop it!" Mrs. Davies who had her head resting on her left palm felt she was about to combust from the excessive disorganization she felt from her brain and her children threatening to bring her down repeatedly in front of her guest.

"It's either you find somewhere else to sit or get into your room." Mrs. Davies was angry for sure this time and Sabrina was wise enough not to argue.

"I'm sorry." She apologized to Mr. and Mrs. Peters who didn't seem offended at all.

When Reynaldo searched their faces for some sort of discomfort, he found none. It felt like they were in the theater instead and part of a great show, the interest and mockery on their faces irritated him.

"No, it's alright. It's a given most times among our children." Mrs. Peters was the one to speak, her exaggerated bright smile put him off, he wasn't sure he would have the appropriate to eat whatever would be given later.

"Hey Rey?" Celine's close whisper almost into his ear made him hiss. He had almost cursed out.

"Don't overstep your boundaries." He whispered back and began to eat when the food was served.

Every time he had the food go into his mouth, he chewed on it with an intense emotion of anger and irritation and he was sure everybody noticed. He got side glances and raised brows repeatedly.

"Rey." His mother had called him, making him paused in his silent battle between him and that content of his plate.

"Mum." He answered after cleaning his lips with the wiper on the table beside his plate, already anticipating her next line of words.

"I know you should have guessed why the Peters are here." She bent her head to look at him with a twinkle in her eyes.

Just at that moment, he felt Celine's thigh rubbing against his, making him adjust.

"I haven't guessed, a reunion?" He asked like he was unsure and naive to whatever he had sensed earlier.

"The Peters and I want you to get engaged with Celine." She smiled so brightly at Rey that Rey thought he would go blind from the effect of her smile and to worsen it, Celine got bolder, placing her hand on his thigh and rubbing it in a slow circular manner, advancing towards his crotch.

He looked at Mr. and Mrs. Peters and they looked back at him with a look he could not decipher if it was hate or mockery.

Without breaking eye contact, he took his right hand down, beneath the table and brought it right back up with Celine's hand accompanying it.

"First of all, Mr. and Mrs. Peters, I would love you to talk some sense into your daughter and stop her from trying to access my dick." He blurted without respect and Mrs. Davies cutlery clanged loudly into her plate, obviously shocked from Reynaldo's audacity and blatant insult.

"Secondly, I think your daughter is the best suited for someone else. I would never get engaged to a girl I haven't had the chance to date." He spat, looking at this mother this time and taking in her shocked face and half parted lips.

He almost laughed at himself after his last statement, at the irony of the situation. He was actually engaged to a girl he hadn't even dated.

"Rey?" His mother called shakily.

"You don't mean this do you?" She asked again, this time holding his eyes in her pitiful one and he was torn between wanting to shout his discomfort and get the hypocrites moving from his father's house and succumbing to her sad gaze on him.
