Chapter 3 - Chapter 3. Convincing Them to Become Valkyries

The Honkai Impact 3rd logo was something he had just casually drawn while drafting the game proposal.

For someone who had once developed an R18 game all on his own, this wasn't all that difficult.

Hokuto tapped on the PPT and waved his hand with commanding flair at the "Valkyries" seated below.

He began explaining to them what Honkai was, what Valkyries were, what the gameplay was like, and what the selling points were.

"Honkai Impact 3rd… anime-style…"

"Role-playing? 3D real-time combat?!"

"Mobile game?"

The women looked at the projected content, their eyes lighting up.

They were, after all, members of a game studio. While they had never created a hit title before, they had seen plenty of games and weren't lacking in knowledge.

The real-time combat design and other features in the proposal astonished them.

These were completely new gameplay elements that had never existed in this world!!

But soon, they began to worry whether their studio even had the capability to produce such a game. The specs Hokuto described in the proposal were no joke.

Especially on the programming side—even if they had always had faith in Bronya Zaychik, even that…

Bronya raised her hand slightly, her seat just barely leaving the chair.

"I have a question. To my knowledge, there currently isn't any 3D game engine on the market that operates on mobile platforms. Hokuto, are you planning for us to develop one ourselves?"

She paused briefly. A serious look flashed across her somewhat expressionless yet delicate face.

"As long as there's a clear direction, although it will take time, Bronya is confident… ahem, I'm confident I can accomplish the task. You can count on me!"

"Bronya really is reliable!"

The others, who were still a bit concerned, all smiled in relief.

But just as they were getting excited, Hokuto waved his hand and said, "You don't have to worry about that. In fact, I've already completed the action engine."

"Hmm?" A chorus of soft, questioning sounds echoed throughout the conference room.

Especially Bronya, who had just made a bold promise, now turned a curious gaze toward Hokuto.

They began to reevaluate him.

Not only had he brought in completely unprecedented gameplay concepts, but also a fully developed action engine?

Even outsiders could tell Hokuto wasn't ordinary—let alone them?

"Really…?"

"I wouldn't joke about something like this."

Looking at the now-energized crowd, Hokuto's eyes narrowed slightly—somewhat like a certain Apocalypse overseer.

He took the opportunity to feign distress and continued.

"But actually, there's still one major problem I haven't solved."

"What is it? Tell us, Hokuto! We'll definitely help you figure it out!" said Kiana Kaslana, still full of energy despite having lost her main body in this world.

"Hmm… the character designs for Honkai Impact 3rd aren't finished yet."

Hokuto explained, "This game is my passion project. I want every character to have their own soul."

The others exchanged glances.

That was a pretty high bar. Typically, a game only needed a few memorable main characters.

But Hokuto wanted every character to have their own soul—that wasn't something just anyone could do.

"Why don't you give it a try, Kiana?" Raiden Mei nudged her with an elbow. "You are our studio's scriptwriter, after all."

"Can I?"

A normal person would probably hesitate, but Kiana looked quite excited.

Honkai Impact 3rd was definitely a game with the potential to go viral!

If she could leave her mark on it… that'd be proof of her talent!

"Hokuto~~" Kiana looked at Hokuto. "Can I… give it a shot?"

Hokuto's expression instantly stiffened.

"Kiana, don't make things too hard for Hokuto," said Murata Himeko, pressing down on Kiana with a helpless look.

Hokuto recovered and said, "Actually, Kiana's personality is pretty similar to the main character I had in mind…"

He paused, then continued, "I just had an idea—what if we modeled the characters in the game after all of you? Using real people as a reference would definitely meet my standards. What do you think?"

After circling around the topic, Hokuto finally got to what he actually wanted to propose.

"Isn't that kind of… inappropriate? We're real people, after all…"

"Why would that be inappropriate?"

In his heart, they were the soul of Honkai Impact 3rd!!

Only by putting them in the game could it truly be the real Honkai Impact 3rd.

"Have you never heard that art imitates life?"

The women fell silent in thought. None of them had expected things to develop like this.

Still, they weren't exactly against it—in fact, they were a little intrigued.

In a way, it was like fulfilling an acting dream?

Hokuto added more fuel to the fire. "If we use your appearances, the character designs can be completed faster. That means Honkai Impact 3rd can launch sooner."

"The studio has been losing money for a long time. We need to figure out how to make a profit—fast."

That's true. None of them were in any position to be picky anymore.

After thinking it over, everyone stopped hesitating. Becoming a game character? Whatever.

Consider it a noble sacrifice for the sake of the company.

Fortunately, a few of them still didn't know what their future nicknames would be.

Paramecium. Rice Cooker Wife…

Otherwise, they might rather hang themselves in the conference room than agree to this.

With that, the meeting more or less wrapped up. Hokuto gave a final reminder that everyone's roles would remain the same, and that he might be hiring more people soon to speed up development.

Hokuto left the conference room with Rita Rossweisse. The others stayed behind to chat.

"Why do you think Hokuto is doing so much for miHoYo?"

"Isn't it because he needs manpower to develop Honkai Impact 3rd?" Kiana blinked.

Theresa Apocalypse shook her head, looking at her like she was far too naïve.

"Hokuto came so prepared. If he just needed a partner, couldn't he work with any game studio? Why would he throw away ten million on us? Would you do that?"

"Well, that's true."

"So clearly, Hokuto saw the potential in miHoYo Studio! He knew we were the perfect studio to develop Honkai Impact 3rd!" Theresa declared confidently.

"Theresa, that actually sounds kind of reasonable!"

As the two intellectual "powerhouses" of miHoYo, Theresa and Kiana immediately reached consensus.

And they even arrived at the correct conclusion.

The others sitting nearby were dumbfounded. They couldn't understand how those two managed to reach that answer.

...

...

"If you're really looking to hire, I have someone I can recommend,"

After helping Hokuto set up his office, Rita Rossweisse suddenly brought it up.

"She's a close friend of mine. She's wanted to help me out for a long time, but I never agreed."

After all, with miHoYo's previous state, she could barely stay afloat herself—dragging a friend into the mess would've been cruel.

Hokuto looked up at Rita.

A thought began forming in his mind.

Rita's close friend?

Could it be...
