Silence returned. But my heartbeat still raged heavily, it was trying something again.
I stared down at the black smear where she vanished. My body shook.
I wasn't ready.
I kept walking.
The forest never stopped watching me.
I didn't stop moving.
The last few weeks were hell for me. After the storm, that was when I first met it. That spawn wiped out all the spawns. At first I was happy, but it got rid of all my food supply. Next it targeted me. I survived but lost a bit of my weapons. Even after travelling further away it still followed me.
I picked up my weapons and placed them back into the bag. I had to pass the veil. The darkness retreated as light entered the forest, marking the 28th day since. When I arrived, the light bathed me. I will kill you.
Days slowly passed. I fought with it several times, but the battles ended with it escaping. But not today. I lunged forward, with the Lamenting Edge in my left hand and three shuriken in the other. I slashed its hand before it dissolved into mist. I jumped back. I threw the shuriken in my hand. It was covered with my shadowy mist. It was the last shadows I had absorbed. I hoped in my heart it would work. I focused on the Shadow Kin trait. Surprisingly, it worked. I could control its form.
Pain shot through my veins. Darn it. I was too focused on it. The shuriken returned to its tangible form and got stuck on a tree. My plan failed miserably. The wounded siren was about to escape. I swiftly made a decisive blow to its leg. The siren stopped trying to escape. It worked. The Will-Cutting Enchantment finally worked. After all the series of fights, I had cut it enough to break its will. I could still feel its urge to fight, but this time, it had no plan to escape.
I held the Lamenting Edge tightly with both hands. I had to use the one style which I hated. The siren lunged forward. Unlike before, its attacks were fairly predictable but still deadly. I commanded my shadow to slide onto the Lamenting Edge and made its steel blade intangible. It became extremely light. The moment the siren came into range, I lunged forward and jumped over its head. Returning the blade back into its tangible form, I pushed my weight onto it. Black blood gushed from the siren's head as the hex echoed:
[You have slain Twilight Horror, Weeping Siren]
[Absorbing residual energy]
[Your flame burns darker]
I fell to the ground. I was exhausted. The last part of the hex statement made me realize that without the Forgotten King's Blade I would have died on the...
That was all it took for me to lose consciousness.
