When they were 10 years old, Sun Kari and Liu Ziyuan had a very close relationship. Until that day, when Kari confessed her feelings to Ziyuan and was rejected. After that, the two became like strangers, never seeking each other out again.

Liu Ziyuan had a crush on Huang Kuiran, but they were both boys. Ziyuan didn't dare to easily reveal his true feelings. He was afraid that if he exposed his sexual orientation, he would be ostracized by his friends. So, he could only secretly watch Kuiran after class every day.

During break time, Ye Hui, Dong Feng, and Ping Dan were walking around the school. As they walked, they saw a girl sitting in a corner, constantly twitching. Out of fear, they quickly passed by her. After walking away, they started gossiping:
"What was that girl doing? So creepy."
Ye Hui said, "Is she turning into a zombie or something?"
Dong Feng laughed and replied, "You've watched too many movies. If she's turning into a zombie, then I'm turning into Superman."
Ye Hui said, "Didn't you check your phone this morning? The news mentioned a new virus and told us to take precautions."
Dong Feng replied, "If it's a zombie virus, what's the point of taking precautions?"
While they were talking, Ping Dan said, "Next period is Baldy's class. Do you guys wanna go?"
Ye Hui said, "How about we skip class and just wander around until his period is over?"
The other two agreed, "Sure."
Meanwhile, Kuiran and Fu Ling had just finished eating. Fu Ling said to Kuiran:
"Can you come with me to find the teacher?"
Kuiran asked, "What for?"
Fu Ling replied, "To get last week's homework."
Kuiran said, "Wait for me, I need to use the restroom first."
Fu Ling nodded, "Okay."
Ziyuan had just finished using the restroom and was washing his hands when Kuiran walked in. The two exchanged glances before quickly looking away. Then, Ziyuan left the restroom. Outside, he regretted not talking to him—even just a simple greeting would have been better.
As he was lost in thought, Teacher Hui walked by. Ziyuan greeted her, and just as he was about to leave, Teacher Hui spoke up:
"Ziyuan, did you finish the assignment I gave you?"
Ziyuan replied, "Of course."
Teacher Hui said, "You better have. I'll check during my class later."
Ziyuan answered, "Okay."
Then, Teacher Hui entered her office.
Shortly after, Fu Ling knocked on the door and went into the teachers' office.
"Good morning, Teacher Hui. Which stack of books needs to be taken back to class?" Fu Ling asked.
The teacher pointed, "This stack, and this one."
Then, Fu Ling and Kuiran carried the books back to class.
The school bell rang, and all the students returned to their classrooms.
In the middle of class, a girl outside the window was walking while twisting her neck in a strange manner. Driven by curiosity, Ziyuan and the whole class looked over, including the teacher.
Concerned, the teacher went up to ask, "Are you okay, student? Which class are you from?"
Mid-sentence, the girl suddenly lunged at the teacher like a madman, biting into her throat. Blood gushed out from the teacher's neck. The students in the classroom screamed in terror, while others froze in shock.
As the class stood stunned, Ziyuan recalled all the zombie shows he had watched at home and finally muttered:
"Zombies."
