"How could your arrows possibly block rune bullets? That's impossible!" The Western cultivator stared at Yi Tianxing, his eyes filled with disbelief and shock. He never imagined that his trump card would be defeated by just three war arrows—and that he would even be at a disadvantage. He had tested this magic pistol before; it could easily slay fifth- or sixth-tier demonic beasts of the first realm.
Its attack power and penetration were incredibly strong.
Yet at this moment, it had been beaten by ordinary arrows. He simply couldn't accept that.
But regardless of whether he accepted it or not, he couldn't avoid the fate of elimination. His body turned into motes of light and dissipated from the battlefield. However, his clothes and various items remained.
Clang!
Several Yin-Yang Locks immediately dropped to the ground and unceremoniously swept up all the leftover items, delivering them straight to Yi Tianxing. Among them was the magic pistol, which was also taken.
Yi Tianxing didn't bother to inspect it. He quickly stored it away in the Spirit Pearl Space—this wasn't the time to be examining spoils.
"You dare to hunt Western cultivators? Join forces and kill him!"A nearby mage, having seen what happened, shouted to several surrounding experts.
"We can't let him keep doing this! If we do, all of us Westerners will lose face!"Another one joined in support.
"Kill him! We can't let these Eastern cultivators look down on us!"
The three mages were furious watching Yi Tianxing charge toward the Western camp. Without hesitation, they attacked in unison. At the very moment they made that decision, their staffs began to move.
Mage Hand!
Chain Fireballs!
Ice Blades!
Wind Blades!
Wind Bind!
Lightning Orb!
In an instant, a flurry of dense magic attacks swept toward Yi Tianxing. The Golden Roc could only ascend to thirty meters in the air—not enough to avoid all magical strikes. A translucent Mage Hand clawed toward the Golden Roc's neck like a giant hand. Gales formed into iron-like chains, trying to bind them. Wind blades, ice shards, even crackling Lightning Orbs all came storming in.
"Courting death!!"
Yi Tianxing's eyes narrowed, his expression cold. The Golden Roc mirrored his icy demeanor, its iron wings flapping violently. A sudden gust of wind burst forth, filled with reverse wind blades, colliding with the incoming spells. Fireballs, wind blades, and ice shards were all torn to shreds in that turbulent wind. But the Lightning Orb punched through the storm and descended from above toward Yi Tianxing.
Boom!
Yi Tianxing had already tracked the Lightning Orb's trajectory. He drew his bow and loosed an arrow in one fluid motion. A Piercing Arrow streaked out like a shooting star, striking the orb just meters ahead of him.
The Lightning Orb exploded, becoming arcs of crackling lightning that scattered through the air.
Some bolts even hit Yi Tianxing, but the residual electricity couldn't harm him in the slightest. He didn't even activate the Mystic Armor Life Aperture—his true qi alone was enough to block the lightning from touching him.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Three Talisman Arrows shot out in rapid succession, each transforming into a ray of light, appearing before the three mages in a flash.
These were Piercing Arrows, each as swift as meteors. Within them was a terrifying energy that seemed to lock down the very air around them.
Clang!
The three mages had long since buffed themselves with defensive spells—Stone Skin, Fire Resistance Ring, Water Spirit Shield—layering their defenses to the max. But the talisman arrows held unmatched piercing power. The runes were strong, but what truly made them lethal was the arrow's raw force and penetration. One by one, the defensive layers shattered, pierced by the overwhelming might and qi within the arrows.
Two mages were struck directly in the throat and fell instantly. The third, however, had a ring that flashed with divine light just as his outer defenses failed. Dragon scales appeared over his body without warning, covering him entirely.
The exhausted Piercing Arrow struck the scales but couldn't pierce through. It bounced off and clattered to the ground.
"What a terrifying archer!"
The surviving mage's face changed dramatically. He spurred his mount and fled in panic. His heart trembled:This archer is terrifying—he's no worse than an elf archer. And the power in those arrows—elves could never match that. How can Eastern archery be this monstrous? Such a divine marksman is the bane of all mages!
And the most frightening part?He wasn't even using regular arrows.
So the mage didn't hesitate—he turned and ran.
Woof!!
Just as he tried to flee, a shadow darted out. A hairless, moldy-green-pawed, sharp-toothed mutt—the Green Emperor—pounced at him.
"What is that thing!?"
The mage only had time to shout before a sharp pain shot through his arm. The Green Emperor's bite was savage; the mage's body couldn't withstand it. His arm was instantly torn apart.
Blood gushed.
At the same time, an invisible green gas coiled around him.
Terrified, the mage didn't dare stop. His mount galloped forward frantically. But suddenly, the ground below flashed with light—without warning, a massive pit opened up. Both man and beast fell in.
Inside the pit were rows of blades. The moment they fell, they were impaled like porcupines. The mage turned into motes of light and vanished.
"Wow, did you see that?"Brother Handsome exclaimed in delight.
"That's a trap—a Celestial Trap Pit! We've warned contestants that this racecourse isn't as safe as it looks. It's filled with traps—some good, some deadly. This particular mage was unlucky. He hit one of the worst—the Celestial Trap Pit. It's brutal. Not only is it lined with blades, but it contains magnetic force—once you're above it, you'll be pulled in. Escaping is nearly impossible."
Big Brother Cool added.
Triggering a Celestial Trap Pit was almost certain death.
"What a terrifying trap."
Yi Tianxing's eyes showed a hint of caution.
The most frightening part of this trap was the magnetic pull. It was like a giant magnet beneath the earth, dragging people down. Once caught, survival was nearly hopeless.
But even so, his hands never stopped moving. He used the Yin-Yang Locks to swiftly collect the items left behind and stored them into the Spirit Pearl Space.
Whoosh!
Yi Tianxing shot another arrow toward a Western cultivator up ahead.
Clang!
But this arrow didn't hit its target. As it flew out, a figure charged into the path. It was a knight riding a Sword Dragon, moving at incredible speed. With a golden shield in his left hand, etched with dragon-scale patterns, and a golden lance in his right, the knight—draped in full armor—blocked the shot.
The arrow struck the dragon-scale shield with a crisp clang.
Sparks flew—but the Piercing Arrow was repelled. It failed to leave a mark on the shield. Though the knight trembled and his mount stumbled, he didn't retreat. He had forcibly blocked the attack.
"Eastern cultivator! You've gone too far!" The golden-armored knight glared coldly at Yi Tianxing.
"On the battlefield, there's no right or wrong—only life and death. The strong prey on the weak; that's the law of the world. I'm strong—so I hunt. If you were stronger and killed me instead, I wouldn't say a word." Yi Tianxing sneered coldly.
In battle, there is no such thing as fairness. Especially in this competition, mercy was meaningless. If you weren't ruthless, then death awaited you. Any enemy that stood in your path—only death could make them a "good" enemy.
"Bite him!"
The Green Emperor had already arrived near the knight and suddenly lunged at the Sword Dragon, chomping down on its tail.
The beast yelped and swung its tail, slamming both itself and the Green Emperor into the ground.
In pain, the Sword Dragon stumbled forward a few steps—
Boom!
Just then, the ground beneath its feet burst with divine light.
Suddenly, a tornado rose from the ground, wrapping around both the Sword Dragon and the knight, lifting them into the air and spinning them wildly.
"What's going on?! Why can't I move!?" The golden knight shouted in panic. His body was trapped, bound by a mysterious force within the vortex. He couldn't break free, and the spinning made his head reel.
He had only one thought: I've been caught!
"Nice! Green Emperor, that was beautiful. When we're done, I'll get you a dog wife!"Yi Tianxing grinned in satisfaction.
This golden-armored knight was not easy to deal with. That shield was definitely a powerful artifact—its defense was impressive. Even talisman arrows struggled to pierce it. If he got entangled, it would be hard to deal with other enemies.
But Yi Tianxing didn't hesitate.
He drew the bow again.
Loosed the arrow.
One Piercing Arrow screamed through the air, aimed directly at the knight's throat.
