Chapter 35 - Dance

James, perceptive as ever, read the intentions behind Francisco's smirk like an open book. The unspoken challenge had sparked a flame of anger within him, threatening to consume reason. Just as the impending clash seemed inevitable, Andrew intervened, playing the role of a mediator before the situation spiraled out of control.

"Francisco, stop and consider everyone's matter," Andrew interjected, a note of urgency in his voice.

"Everyone's matter?"

Francisco retorted with a sardonic smirk, a master of turning any conversation to his advantage. His words lingered in the air, a subtle reminder that, beneath the guise of camaraderie, they were here to discuss matters of business, not engage in a clandestine power-play.

Andrew, his face now etched with sternness.

"Are we friends who come here to discuss business, or are we holding some kind of party?"

He tilted his head in mock contemplation.

With a nonchalant demeanor, he crossed his fingers, a gesture that seemed to symbolize the intricate web of rivalries.

"Listen, Andrew," Francisco declared, his tone firm and unyielding, "if you also come to my path, I won't hesitate to shoot you, and I know you won't hesitate either."

The ominous words hung in the air, a stark reminder of the consequences that awaited those who dared to cross the boundaries set by Francisco.

Andrew's countenance diminished, the gravity of the situation sinking in.

The unspoken aggression between Francisco and James had pushed the limits of their covert negotiations.

Francisco, however, appeared unfazed, unburdened by the weight of his decisions.

"I am done with this," Francisco declared with finality, dismissing the escalating tension with a wave of his hand.

On the other side, Hazel stood up, taking a moment to glance around the room. The space was awe-inspiring, and she positioned herself in front of the wall window to peer out. The view from the higher floor showcased the entire city, illuminated by the beautiful night lights.

She took a moment to absorb the breathtaking night view, savoring the quietude and beauty that enveloped her. The city below was a tapestry of lights, each flicker telling a story of its own. Hazel, with a glass of wine in hand, immersed herself in the symphony of the urban night.

However, the enchantment of the sight couldn't entirely dispel her boredom. After about 40 minutes, Hazel had emptied the bottle of wine. Though she felt a bit tipsy, she exercised self-control. Restlessness seeping in, she checked the time on her phone and decided to explore beyond the confines of the room.

Upon stepping into the hallway, Hazel observed a lively atmosphere. The grand event had many ladies and gentlemen engaging in amicable interactions. She rolled her eyes as she surveyed the scene, carefully navigating the crowd. Being alone, she inevitably drew the attention of some men.

As she strolled through the crowd, Hazel noticed the curious glances directed her way. A mix of socializing and inebriation surrounded her, creating a vibrant yet surreal ambiance. Unperturbed, she continued to explore, weaving through the throng of guests.

Despite the presence of other ladies, Hazel's bold and alluring demeanor set her apart in the crowd. Leaning against a stone in a corner, she gazed outside, captivated by the beauty of the night. Suddenly, a voice interrupted her thoughts.

"Ms."

Hazel's eyes shifted seductively as she turned to face Rafael. A smile graced her lips upon catching his eyes.

"Hello!"

Hazel exchanged smiles with Rafael, her gaze momentarily wandering the surroundings. Rafael, with a slight smile, pointed out, "You are alone."

"I came here with Mr. Francisco. I believe you've heard of him; he's a business tycoon," Hazel responded, her smile lingering as she touched her locket.

There was a subtle understanding in their eyes and conversation, as if both were trying to navigate around certain topics.

Rafael, with a probing smile, inquired, "So, are you his girlfriend?"

Hazel's eyes widened slightly at the question. She chuckled, "Oh no, Mr. I am his PA. So, what about you?"

"I am a police officer."

Hazel, in response, raised her brows, a smirk playing on her lips.

"But don't worry, I am here as an invited person," Rafael continued, sipping his wine with a focused gaze.

Hazel, intrigued by this revelation, couldn't resist probing further.

"But isn't it a business party?" she inquired, her tone laced with playful curiosity.

Rafael's smile widened as he glanced around the room.

"Yes, but you might think that I am here for work," he explained, maintaining an air of mystery about the nature of his presence.

Hazel, not one to miss an opportunity for a closer encounter, drew nearer to Rafael. With a mischievous smile, she studied him intently, her fingers tracing a playful pattern around the collar of his attire.

"Ah, working alone?" Hazel teased, her tone carrying a suggestive undertone.

Rafael, meeting her gaze with a smirk, replied, "Work is important, Ms."

Hazel murmured with a curving smile on her lips, "But, Mr. Rafael, entertainment is also important." The exchange between Hazel and Rafael carried a subtle flirtation.

Hazel took Rafael's hand and led him onto the dance floor, as she had mentioned. Couples were swaying to the soothing music, providing the perfect ambiance for a dance. She took the initiative, placing her hands around his neck, while he reciprocated by resting his hands on her hips, a genuine smile gracing his face.

"Ms., are you certain that you want to dance right now? With me?"

Rafael inquired, a hint of playful uncertainty in his voice.

Hazel chuckled in response, "I want to try it, without a doubt, with an officer."

Rafael, showing his dance skills, drew her closer by firmly placing his hand on her waist. Hazel reciprocated with a slight smile, clearly enjoying the impromptu dance.

As they moved gracefully to the music, Rafael leaned in and whispered while skillfully guiding her through the dance, "I don't get along with your boss. Will he not be upset?"

Rafael, caught in the rhythm of the dance, responded with a grin as Hazel playfully twisted and pushed back, her movements matching the cadence of the music. As the dance unfolded, Rafael's fingertips grazed her belly in a subtle yet intentional gesture.

"But he is not here," Hazel remarked, her voice dipped in a seductive tone. She leaned in close, her lips almost brushing against Rafael's ear. The tantalizing warmth of her breath sent a shiver down his spine.

"So, I ought to take this opportunity, right, Hazel?" Rafael replied with a knowing smile, he caressed her smooth cheek with his pointed nose.
