Chapter 87: Yellow Arc Begins!

~Third POV~

[Kanto Region, 2 Years Later, Northern Pallet Town]

Since the battle that raged at the massive Silph Co. Building, Team Rocket's headquarters were destroyed, and since then, many things have changed in the Pokémon world. With the introduction of new TMs, Pokémon Blocks, New Typings, and the revolutionary tool for Trainers, the Rotom Phone.

Due to these revolutionary ideas and items being produced, the way of the current Meta had changed drastically. With new typings along with new moves, people began to shift slightly into a new technological era of advancement.

With the Rotom Phones, especially for those who can pay for them, they helped support Ace Trainers traveling to different regions. And help inform wary travelers of certain Pokémon and info, thanks to the Pokémon Professors providing their own information about certain types of Pokémon.

With the advanced development of Rotom Phones, people began to use them worldwide, drawing attention to the Paldea Region. As well as learning from a year ago, an incident in Goldenrod City viewing a giant Dragon Serpent exiting through the sky.

Many unseen occurrences were also viewed across the world with the Rotom Phone, or people using them caught them on video. Thus also came the age of the rise of internet stars, with Iono, for example, using the Rotom Phones to become an internet influencer and streamer.

Geeta was especially happy for this, as this brought attention to the Paldea Region. Not only that, Devon Corp and Silph Co. also managed to get massive profit during those 2 years of new TMs and Poke Blocks involving the new Pokémon typing.

Thus, a massive change in the Pokémon Adventures world was sent into a new era of information and advancement. Knowing the creator left more challenges and fans to come to Azure Sky was the one responsible for these advancements sharing his knowledge with the Pokémon World.

Known as the Ninth Pokémon League Champion of the Kanto and Johto Region. He gained massive popularity and a reputation for his contribution to the Pokémon World, whether through his Poke Blocks, TMs, or Rotom Phone; at least everyone has heard of him once…

*Clop*

*Clop*

In the meantime, a mailman riding a Ponyta is unable to regain control of his mount, frantically holding on tight while he tries to calm it down, "Waaaah! Easy… easy… be a good little… ack!"

He notices that Ponyta has changed direction, charging directly at a person sitting down nearby as the mailman shouted, "L-Look out! You there! Get out of the w – "

The person quickly stands up, revealed to be Red. Quickly grabbing his Poke Ball he brought his Pokémon out.

*Kch*

*BOM*

Red intervenes by sending out Saur, who quickly incapacitates the Ponyta and catches the mailman on top of his flower. The Mailman, stunned, asked, "What…?!"

Red comforts Ponyta and explains to the mailman that Pallet Town's fresh air tends to reinvigorate Pokémon and figures that Ponyta just wanted to run around for a while. The boy starts getting back to work and begins to clean up the spilled mail into his bag.

Red notices a letter identifying itself as being from the Pokémon League and curiously picks it up. The mailman says in a sheepish tone, stuffing the mail in his bag, "Hey, you're from Pallet Town, so maybe you'd know. This letter's addressed to 'Azure Sky'. Know him?"

Red smirked as he held onto the letter, as he replied in a proud tone, holding out his Rotom Phone, giving a call, "I guess I know him a little. Just wait a second, I'll give him a call as his not in town now."

The letter was simply addressed to someone named Azure Sky, as Red knew him personally, using the new Rotom Phone as he thought casually, 'Man, these Rotom Phones are so convenient! I'm so glad the Professor got each of us one! Not only can I hold it, but it floats too!'

*Beep*

Answering the phone from the other end, Azure replied from the other end, seeing Red as he greeted him, "Sup, Red! I got your call, so what's the stitch?"

Red showed the letter addressed to him. Red unfolded it for Azure to read out loud, listening intently as he rubbed his chin, muttering, "I see… but I'm afraid I'm gonna decline the challenge. I'm busy with something important and too far out to be on Mt. Moon. But Red, do you want to challenge this Bruno guy? I heard the Elite Four are supposed to be strong. Just as Strong as you, Blue, Green… or even me."

Red's eyes widened at this claim as he smirked, adjusting his cap. He grinned, accepting the challenge in Azure's place as he declared, "For real! Then this Bruno guy is in for a surprise! Besides, with 1 more year left, I'll challenge the Pokémon League Tournament and that title will be mine, Sky!"

Azure grinned, crossing his arms as he smugly said confidently, "Heh. Can't wait for when it happens, but till then I wish you luck, Red. I've got something to take care of. Later."

Red proudly grins as he prepares to battle Bruno of the Elite Four in Azure's place. With that, Red ended the call.

~Azure S. POV~

[Kanto Region, Cerulean City]

*Beep*

Ending the call from Red on the other end of the phone, I shrugged my shoulders. Seems like the Elite Four are finally making their move, it seems.

Been wondering when they'll make their first move. Then, judging by a month, Red will get injured in his fight against them, making me frown.

And just when I had the time to search, I saw Squirtle around here too. I've finally got a lead on the elusive water turtle, but then this popped up.

Right now, I've got Pikachu and Eevee out as they use my shoulder and head as place holders. I was hoping to get the final Kanto Starter Pokémon I'm missing so I can begin raising my next team in a new region.

Damn… talk about inconvenient timing. I was hoping to train my little guys, but it will have to be put on hold as I back up. And time is something I do have after all, best to –

*Crack*

"Stop it!"

Suddenly, my thoughts were stopped as I tried to get to Nugget Bridge to search for Squirtle, my eyes stopped at a Poke Crime in the process.

And no, I didn't mean the pun in it. I mean a POKE Crime as I see another one of the Kanto Trios jump out from the house with, surprisingly enough, Officer Jenny nearby.

The Pokémon in question is a small reptilian Pokémon that resembles a light blue. It has large, purplish or reddish eyes and a slightly hooked upper lip. Each of its hands and feet has three pointed digits. The end of its long tail curls inward. Its body is encased by a tough shell that is brown on the top, pale yellow on the bottom, and has a thick white ridge between the two halves.

My mouth couldn't help myself when I saw the Pokémon in question was the Water Type Starter Squirtle in the flesh. I saw it come out from the home with Officer Jenny speaking out as it held one of her Poke Balls, yelling angrily at the mischievous Squirtle, "Hey! Give me back my Poke Ball!"

The mischievous turtle replied, "Squirrrrrtle!"

Spinning around, I saw the Water Type about to book it, but no way in hell I'm letting this teenage bad turtle get away from me. Knowing who to pick, I brought out Bulbasaur's Poke Ball, hurling it over.

*Pop*

Bulbasaur materialized at the ready for battle. I felt my heart pumping in my blood as I spoke out excitedly, "Sorry, Squirtle, but it looks like today's my lucky day. Bulbasaur, standby for battle!"

Bulbasaur glared, looked determined cried out, "Bulba!"

Coming out of his Poke Ball, seeing the Squirtle as he ran straight towards me direction the turtle froze, seeing Bulbasaur letting go of Jenny's Poke Ball. Squirtle cried out in panic, "Squirtle? Squirrrrle!"

Not letting the turtle have the chance to get away from this, I immediately began to call out my attack at it, "Bulbasaur use Vine Whip straight away!"

*Woosh*

Understanding my orders, Bulbasaur released her vines in an attempt to whip the Squirtle, seeing it having no choice but to fight, it began to use Withdraw. I saw a green aura around him, and defending quite well against Bulbasaur's Vine Whip.

But it made the mistake of hiding away as I ordered, "Good! Keep him still, buddy! Use Leech Seed followed by Toxic!"

Nodding immediately, Bulbasaur launched its seed from its bulb. The seed grew around Squirtle's shell, encasing it, as Bulbasaur suddenly lit up purple energy from it, he spat out a purple sludge-like substance at Squirtle.

*Splash*

Squirtle's shell and its body had a distinct purple haze around it as its body finally came out from its shell, glaring at us, then puckered its lips and began to shoot out Bubbles at Bulbasaur, keeping them in the air.

*Pop*

*Pop*

However, the surprised look on Squirtle's face seeing his Bubble attack pretty much did nothing to my Bulbasaur. Hell, I think he even enjoys the freshly soaked bubbles, containing water, shrugging it off.

Squirtle, seeing he was just about lost with me holding my Poke Ball tossing it up and down as I spoke to my future team members, "Sorry Squirtle, but it seems like you have been checkmated. Go Poke Ball!"

*Swoosh*

*Pop*

My Poke Ball connected as Squirtle was caught inside poison and leeches, of his health. I saw my Poke Ball move around, tilting back and forth, making me nervous…

Come to Daddy… I need to add a Water Type, and I want that Blastoise because I could learn the Secret Technique… Note to self, I must head to the Sevii Islands to get those Secret Techniques because I know those exist there with some old lady to teach me.

Or I could use my Arc Phone to look up the answer. The Poke Ball twitched as it tilted back and forth till…

*BON*

Hearing the clicking sounds of my Poke Ball, I couldn't help but smirk, going towards it as I smiled, clenching my Squirtle Poke Ball as I congratulated Bulbasaur, "Good job, Bulbasaur, we caught a Squirtle!"

Bulbasaur smiled happily as she cried out, "Bulbasaur!"

Raising her vines in the air in agreement, my eyes wander towards Officer Jenny as she picks up her Poke Ball, thanking me, "Sigh… thank goodness I got my Growlithe again. Thanks for the help there, Trainer."

Then her eyes narrowed at the Squirtle as he flinched away, whistling innocently inside my Poke Ball as she gave me a comment about the little troublemaker, "Word to the wise, kid, be careful of that Squirtle. That little troublemaker is always getting into mischief. I think it needs a good trainer like yourself to set it right. Think you can handle him? Or you could give it to me to see if I can find another Trainer if it's not too much trouble for you."

Really huh? Gazing my eyes at the Squirtle, sweating bullets, I couldn't help but laugh mentally at the choice given.

Turning my attention towards Officer Jenny, I shook my head, replying to Officer Jenny in a confident tone, "Hmm… thanks for the advice. But I'm keeping this Squirtle in my team. I'm sure I can set this little guy straight."

Officer Jenny smirked at this and nodded in agreement, along with encouragement, "OK, kid. Be sure you can handle the little troublemaker."

Thanking her for her advice, she began to return to the house that Squirtle jumped out of, as I took out my Arc Phone, giving info about this water starter. I smirked reading the info provided.

[Squirtle the Tiny Turtle Pokémon. Squirtle's shell is a useful tool. It can withdraw into its shell for protection or to sleep. The grooved, rounded shape helps to reduce water resistance, allowing the Pokémon to swim at high speeds. Squirtle can spray foamy water from its mouth with great accuracy.

Squirtle is scarce in the wild, although it can be found around small ponds and lakes. Squirtle can also be found residing around rivers in mountainous regions. Squirtle is shown to be found living on secluded islands with other members of their evolutionary line. Sharpedo is a natural predator of Squirtle.

Squirtle is known to sleep by withdrawing its limbs and head into its shell. It does this to protect itself from threats while sleeping. It also occasionally rocks contentedly from side to side while sleeping. Squirtle has four different sleep styles it sleeps in: Sheltered Sleep, Unsheltered Sleep, Overturned Sleep, and Atop-Belly Sleep.]

|Name: Squirtle (Tiny Turtle Pokémon)

|Type: Water

|Level: 8

|Gender: Male

|Ability: Torrent

|Nature: Bold

|Moves: Tackle, Tail Whip, Bubble, Withdraw, Water Gun, Aqua Ring (EM) (0 Moves left to learn)

Raising an eyebrow at his Move set and Nature, it seems like Squirtle might come in handy as a tank for my team in the future. Plus, I could have him start teaching some more powerful moves from the future gen games here.

Putting Squirtle away back in my box, I'll deal with the little troublemaker later. Better see if Red didn't get his ass kicked already… or he already got jumped.

Either way, at least I'm not the one getting jumped by Ace or Elite Level Trainers. I know my limits very well and know I can't win an 18 v 6 situation there.

And besides that, Green did the same with Yellow, so I'm not that bad sending Red to a clear trap. At the very least, my guy knows how to fight.

Rubbing my face, trying to justify my actions. Sigh... let's just see if Red is still kicking after this...
