Since Han Xi moved out of the Old Han Family Residence, Li Manman has basically set up camp at her place. When Chu Ci isn't busy with work or is on a break, he also comes over. Hence, the bed in the bedroom is custom-made, extremely large, just right for three people to sleep in.
Han Xi made herself a bowl of tomato and egg noodles, sat at the dining table, and checked her call records while eating. The rising steam settled on her thick lashes, creating a hazy sheen of dampness.
Why hadn't the police station called her? Isn't it usually required for the person involved to provide a statement in such matters?
Not thinking much more of it, Han Xi finished her noodles, changed her clothes in the bedroom, and went to work.
........
Last night, Lu Jinghan learned about the incident at the club. He immediately called the police chief, stating that justice must be served and there should be no favoritism or corruption.
With Lu Jinghan having spoken, the chief definitely had to agree. However, he immediately felt the pressure, knowing that Lu Qing An would also call him. Yet, he understood that Lu Jinghan currently held the real power in the Lu Group, and he knew which side weighed more.
After learning that his son was once again in the police station, Lu Qing An flew into a rage. Luckily, he didn't have a heart condition; otherwise, he surely would have been angered to death.
He sat on the office sofa, dialed the police chief's number, but nobody answered for quite some time. Frowning and thinking things over, he decided to go to the police station in person.
The car soon stopped at the entrance of the police station. Lu Qing An pushed the door open, tossed his cigarette to the ground, stomped it out, buttoned his open suit jacket, and entered the station.
The chief in the office saw Lu Qing An coming personally, stood up, and greeted him with a smile: "What brings Old Lu here?"
Lu Qing An nodded awkwardly and sat on the sofa: "I heard that my good-for-nothing son caused trouble at the police station again last night. Director Li, I have to ask for your leniency and a bit of help with this matter."
Director Li, while pouring tea for Lu Qing An, declined: "Old Lu, I'm in a tough spot too. The surveillance video from the club is there plain as day, and the young lady filed a report. Unless the other party agrees to a settlement, I can only proceed according to regulations."
Lu Qing An took the tea handed to him by Director Li, sipped it, and lightly frowned: "Alright, I won't put you in a difficult position, Director Li. I'll go see my good-for-nothing son first. How about we have dinner together some evening?"
Director Li sipped his tea with a smile: "I've got plans tonight. Let's find another time when I'm available. I'll make arrangements now; you should go see Jingchen."
"Okay, sorry for troubling you, Director Li."
As he left the office, Lu Qing An's expression grew stern. He wondered which heiress that bastard of his had offended this time for Director Li to be unwilling to help.
When he saw his son in the interrogation room, Lu Qing An's complexion turned even darker. Lu Jingchen's face was battered black and blue, his head was wrapped in gauze, and both his wrists and fingers were in casts.
"Dad, you finally arrived."
Seeing his father, a faint smile surfaced on Lu Jingchen's beaten face; he certainly didn't want to stay in this godforsaken place any longer.
"Who did this to you?"
Lu Qing An sat down in a chair, his expression growing ever uglier. Even daring to hit his son, someone had some nerve.
Lu Jingchen spoke with an ominous look in his eyes: "It was that Doctor Han from the hospital. I took a liking to her, and she dared to hit me. Once I'm out, I'll make sure to teach her a lesson."
