Min-ji felt her heart melting with those words, and tears pricked the corner of her eyes. He patted her back softly, "You do have a task to complete though, let's go finish it," he kissed her forehead again.
Her cheeks burned hotter as she rolled off him, her heart beating really fast.
"Damn it," she muttered furiously under her breath, her lower teeth grazing her lips.
"You are not going to sit there, are you?" She looked up at him who was already on his feet, his hand outstretched, "Come on, stand up."
She took it, while he helped her stand up, "Let's go."
"I don't even remember the location," she stood akimbo, her eyes squinted as she scanned the area.
"It is about time we started setting up markers, what do you think?" He crossed his arms.
"I completely agree, this is not good at all. We could get lost, and walk right into another horde of zombies. I am so not ready for that," she snapped her neck to the side, wiggling her hands.
"Strange human," he mumbled.
"Aegenesis, could you please show us the way back? I think I am lost," her chest bobbed up and down in sync with her heavy breathing, as she tapped her foot impatiently.
The screen flickered back to life in front of her, showing her the directives from where they stood, with some red indicators.
"Follow me," she gestured for him to follow her.
"As you say, my lady," he bowed slightly, with a small smirk on his face.
"You are so weird," she grimaced.
"So are you," he wrapped his around her shoulders.
***
Soo Min-ji wiped her forehead, "Phew, all done."
She went ahead to sit beside Heuk Jin who had been watching her all these while.
"Hungry?"
"Yes, I am," she replied, stretching.
He gently snapped his fingers, "Aevoin," he mentally commanded.
Then a medium-sized blue screen came flickering to life in front of him. On the screen's interface, there were icons of various food items all lined up from whole grains foods to a number of snacks.
"Whoa! That's food? All of that?" Soo Min-ji's jaws dropped.
"You can see this?" He snapped his head to the side, his eyes widening a bit.
"Yes, can't you see mine?" She arched her brows.
"Not really," he mumbled looking back to his screen that was being displayed before him.
"Ouu, we should definitely have some ramen! It's been so long I had that!" She propped on her knees clapping excitedly, "Oh, do you have some spice? We should make it extra spicy too."
"Hold on little princess, allow me concentrate so I can bring it out, huh?"
She nodded, pinning her lips with her index and thumb fingers, excitement visible in her eyes.
Heuk Jin closed his eyes, so he could concentrate on his mental command once more.
A bowl of Ramen.
"What in the name of the apocalypse?!" Soo Min-ji almost threw her bowl away in surprise, *This is cooked already?!" Her face was on the floor.
"You are welcome," he patted her head.
"You.. how did you store so much food in your system anyway? That is so cool, but where exactly did you get food from?"
"I stored these before the Apocalypse began."
She narrowed her eyes, "What?"
"I mean, I was reborn a a month before the Apocalypse, I knew I had to store something in it, and it let me store food."
"Just food?" She blinked.
"Just food," he shrugged, "We came here to build this thing from the scratch, we can not do that if we brought anything else from the past world, can we?"
She shook her head, "You're kind of right.." her excitement had incredibly reduced as she took a big bite of the noodle soup.
"This is hard," she sat back on her behind, "Harder than I thought it would be," her head fell.
He patted her shoulder again, "You do not have to worry, we can do this together. Quit thinking about how hard it is, now finish that thing up."
She nodded, taking another bite, "Aren't you eating also?" She said between mouthfuls.
He shook his head, looking ahead of him.
She swallowed, "What? Why?"
"I can not eat like the way humans do hehe, I am undead, remember?"
She blinked, the chopsticks froze in her right hand, "Are all those for me?"
"Obviously," he looked away.
She opened her mouth to say more, but the words couldn't come out. Her heart leapt as she kept thinking that he had done something so sweet for her, over and over again.
With a reddened face, she continued stuffing her mouth with the noodle soup.
[Beep! A shambler detected in a distance!]
Min-ji paused, her eyes scanning the vast land in front of her.
"Oh damn," she managed to push the noodles down her throat before she got up.
"What is the matter?" He looked up at her.
"There is a shambler headed this way," she groaned, reaching down for her crescent blade.
"Hmm, finish your food princess, I can take care of that," he also got up, towering above her.
"Sit down," his velvety voice sliced the tension that was slowly building back up in her stomach.
Her stomach bubbled with a funny feeling as she sat back down, "This feels like a trap Heuk Jin, be careful."
"A trap? What do you mean?" He whipped out his katana, throwing her a glance before looking ahead again.
"It feels as though the person is out to get you."
He threw her a strange look, "Person? You think there is another living person here?" With that, he scurried towards the shambler.
Her heart raced, "Something doesn't feel right all of a sudden," she placed the bowl of Ramen beside her.
Then she saw it -- something flashed before her eyes, something, more like a special breed of zombies, trying to finish her off with one swipe of the sword.
Just then she heard the sharp, striking sound of cold metal behind her, but she was quick to roll away, her crescent blade still very much in her possession.
Her heart stopped when she saw what was before her. It immediately began drumming twice as fast as it normally would do. Her fingers trembled, and her lips shook with her eyes almost dropping out of their sockets, "What the actual hell?"
