Moments later, a group arrived at the doorway of Maya Spencer's dorm, with the imposing aura of catching someone in the act.
"Principal, Maya Spencer is a girl. It's not appropriate for so many people to barge into the dorm to check, is it?"
At the dorm entrance, a girl standing outside the door, responsible for opening it for the crowd, looked at the principal, department head, class teacher, and other teachers with fear and nervously locked the dorm door.
Maya Spencer was lying in bed, groggy in her pajamas. She couldn't bear being ogled by so many males, so she mustered up her courage and voiced her objection to Liam Spencer.
"Ella Turner, open the door. Do we look like we'll gobble up Maya Spencer? Is she not inside?"
Liam Spencer squinted slightly and glanced at the girl tightly gripping the doorknob, finally recognizing her as the same girl who came to his office yesterday to ask him to handle the theft incident. She seemed quite righteous.
Listening to the noisy chatter behind him, Liam turned around and glanced at the crowd, asking, "Don't you need to work?"
"Go back to lesson preparations. This is my class's issue, I'll handle it." A middle-aged woman in the crowd, seeing Liam's serious expression, quickly dispersed the onlookers, leaving herself behind.
At this moment, the girl named Ella Turner finally took out the key from her pocket and opened the dorm door again.
She led Liam and the class teacher inside, explaining as they walked.
"Principal, Maya came back late last night, the hot water was off, she probably took a cold shower, and now she's sick."
Listening to the girl's explanation, Liam's lips curled slightly with a cold smirk, thinking his sister was truly ruthless, even resorting to feigning illness to avoid punishment.
The class teacher noticed Liam's disdainful smile, swiftly walked to the bed, pulled Maya's blanket, and sternly demanded, "Did you finish writing your reflection, Maya?"
The woman's actions made Ella hold her breath.
She knew the teacher disliked Maya, but now that she was sick, couldn't she catch a breath?
Beside her, Liam observed the woman's initial response, slightly furrowing his brow, thinking his sister was truly annoying; even illness did not escape criticism.
On the bed, Maya, blurry from being awakened, noticed Liam standing at her bedside.
Her expression paused slightly, thinking she was seeing things. Upon glancing at the bedside again, Liam was still there, and out of the corner of her eye, she saw the class teacher glaring at her.
The scene made Maya take a deep breath, thinking it appeared that as long as she didn't drop dead, these people wouldn't leave her alone.
"Did you write your reflection?" The class teacher demanded again, looking at Maya's pale face.
Maya turned her head and rolled her eyes at the class teacher, uncovering herself and getting out of bed barefoot. She walked to the desk, grabbed her backpack, unzipped it, took out a folded sheet, handed it to Liam, and said.
"Principal, here's a five-thousand-word reflection. I took sick leave, so I apologize for not being able to give a speech today."
Liam looked at the reflection Maya handed over but didn't take it. He watched her flushed, stubborn face, feeling both annoyed and surprised that she was indeed sick despite wanting to catch her unprepared.
For a moment, he felt even more displeased.
The class teacher, seeing Maya's fearless demeanor, quickly took the reflection from Maya and impatiently reprimanded, "Being sick doesn't make you special! Don't think you can just dodge this."
Maya ignored the teacher and burrowed back into bed, indifferent to spare them another glance.
Maya's cold attitude left Liam increasingly displeased and convinced this rascal deliberately made herself sick to evade her speech.
Therefore, right in front of Maya, Liam took out his phone and dialed Elijah Reed.
"Elijah, have Doctor Parker come to the school; the Spencer family's Fifth Miss is running a fever." Liam intentionally emphasized the word "Fifth Miss" to mock Maya.
After hanging up, Liam looked at Maya again and said, in a detached tone, "Doctor Parker's remedies are swift. Once you've received the injection, start on your reflection."
The more Maya sought excuses and tried to evade, the more Liam prevented her escape, especially her proud demeanor, which annoyed him greatly. He wanted to see her arrogance crumble.
As expected, once Doctor Parker's injection was administered, Maya's fever subsided, her flushed face returning to its usual brightness, though her gaze lacked its customary intensity.
In the dorm, Elijah stood beside the bed, feeling conflicted!
Because he needed to remind Maya of her reflection speech, he couldn't muster the courage to speak, wondering why the big boss was acting strangely, picking a fight with his sister as soon as he returned.
Though she was indeed proud and unattractive in nature, she hadn't provoked him! Why insist on holding onto her little shortcomings, going against the big boss style of Owen Clan Group?
On the bed, Maya glanced at Elijah coldly, suddenly asking, "Are you very interested in watching me change clothes?"
"No, no." Elijah hurriedly explained, and quickly exited the dorm, waiting for Maya outside.
Two minutes later, Maya walked out in casual wear, carrying last night's checkered canvas backpack on her back, saying.
"Starting from Class One-A."
Maya was efficient in her work. Without waiting for Elijah to speak, she embarked on her speech tour with him.
Though a five-thousand-word draft might not seem long, reading it wasn't quick either. Due to the class teacher's demand for reading quality, a single read-through took 25 minutes, covering only four classes in two hours.
Following behind her, Elijah watched Maya's expressionless demeanor, void of emotion, feeling unsure of what to make of it. Although she hadn't stolen anything, she was forced to write a reflection against her conscience and did it so proficiently. It seemed she wrote reflections often.
Despite being an illegitimate child, she was still the dignified Fifth Miss of the Spencer Family. How could she be reduced to such a state!
"Fifth Miss, have some water." Maya had just exited the fifth classroom, and Elijah promptly offered a bottle of purified water.
Maya did not accept Elijah's water. Instead, she opened her backpack and took out a water bottle, sipping on the cool boiled water she had brought from the dorm, proceeding towards her own class.
"Classmate Spencer, did you not eat? Your voice is so low, how can the students at the back hear?"
Listening to the class teacher's reproach, Maya took a deep breath, raised her head, and stared directly at her, eyes devoid of much emotion; no one could guess what she was thinking.
"Are you deaf? I asked you to read louder. Didn't you hear me? Why are you staring at me? Do you want me to read for you? Look at yourself, always looking half-dead, your grades poor, nobody likes you. With that ghastly look, you'll struggle to find a job in the future. Who's going to support you then?"
"I'll support her!" As soon as the class teacher finished speaking, a man's voice sounded from the doorway.
Maya turned her head and saw Henry Reid standing furiously at the door, eager to swallow her class teacher whole.
