Chapter 24 - He becomes a Miracle

~Yawn~

Sheon, using his index finger, swipes off the tear that formed at the corner of his eye—due to boredom—as he yawns.

Beside him was a pile of books, every set of books Henry had read throughout his lifetime.

"It's so boring!"

He said while tossing the book he was holding behind him.

"Humans are complicated; they'll do anything to obtain knowledge, yet they are ignorant. A futile effort."

"Even angels aren't all-knowing. I wonder how far humans can go with their research. What secrets will they unfold?" He smirked and yawned again.

He stretched, then clutched his hands together, using them to support his head.

"It's so boring. When will something interesting happen next?"

"His sister was pretty interesting. She has grown exceptionally well since I last saw her.

"I think she's the best talent among her other siblings," he said as he watched Henry cut off Ishmael's hand.

"Oho... now that's some action there. I think she did a good job influencing him, hehe. I like that.

"But still, her intentions of giving him her mana-filled mana core still elude me. What is she trying to accomplish?"

He pondered for some minutes before his attention was drawn to Tina's explanation of her new experimental method.

"Hmm?"

A smile curved up his lips as he looked up to the celestial eyes.

"Yo, you hear that, Lumia? What are you going to do now? Don't you think it's high time we create a link with our host?"

He addressed the celestial eyes by its name. Lumia blinked twice and looked away, uninterested.

Although Lumia might only be a pair of celestial eyes, it developed its own consciousness when left alone.

Its characteristics are like those of an angel. It is intelligent and possesses divine powers.

"Oh? So you're going to watch him die. That's something," he said and let out a chuckle.

He had gotten used to the celestial eyes that they were now relating—kind of.

Although he's always the one talking and getting no reply from the eyes, they are coexisting as opposing forces.

Sheon was beginning to regain some of his powers, so he could resist the celestial eyes.

After their first encounter, the eyes never bothered him again.

He understood that the eyes weren't sealed in him; it chose the Darkling as its host and was just a bystander.

It never did anything or shared its power; that's why its hosts are always tagged as powerless.

"Oh, I forgot; you don't get involved in these things. You're just an onlooker.

Well, let's see if our prince lives or dies."

Sheon's evil smile widened from ear to ear.

.....

Once the experiment began, Henry was holding on pretty well, but as they started sucking the mana out of him, Henry's mental resistance shook from the intense pain.

There was an overflow of mana from the mana Lumia—the celestial eyes—had been storing, and it leaked into his heart, almost killing him before the celestial eyes saved the day.

Sheon watched amusingly as Luna turned into what looked like a human silhouette, except that it was white.

It separated the mana seeping into Henry's heart and created a temporary core in his chest, close to his heart, enough to stabilize him.

Seeing this as an opportunity, Sheon sent his mana to the mana core Olivia gave Henry, which also contained some of her mana.

Mana has the personality traits of its wielder; that means it can't easily be stolen or absorbed by others.

If you defeat a monster, you can absorb their mana to increase your own mana reserve, but for a human, that's not the case.

You will have to be stronger than the opponent in order to absorb their mana, because there will be a war between the two mana, and if the absorber isn't strong enough, his mana core will be corrupted, his energy gate cut, and he'll be crippled.

This was the same thing with Sheon's and Olivia's mana.

The struggle between the two mana caused a disturbance in the temporary core Luna was building, leading to a mana overflow.

Lumia got angry seeing what was going on, and that Henry's heart was about to stop as a result of the mana that flowed into his heart.

Lumia's eyes glowed purple, forcing the two mana back inside Henry's body.

And of course, Sheon's mana devoured Olivia's but not completely; there were traces of Olivia's mana properties, and it coexisted with Sheon's mana.

This only happened because Sheon hadn't regained half of his powers, so their mana settled in the mana core at his abdomen.

With that, Sheon created a link to Henry, and Luna was able to stabilize the core at Henry's chest.

Henry's condition stabilized, but for his body to carry the dual mana core, he needed some adjustments to his body.

....

The experiment failed, but Henry survived, although he entered a comatose state.

After the incident report to his father, he instructed that apart from Tina, no one was to go near Henry until he woke up.

His siblings were prohibited from visiting, and his classes were held until he woke up.

It's been two weeks, and there was no one except Tina checking up on Henry.

She noticed some strange changes and reactions in Henry's body and reported to Mr. Darkling.

Her observations included the strange cracks that appeared on Henry's body. It was like his skin was made from clay and was about to fall off.

From those cracks, golden-black colored mana emitted.

After some days, the mana started to settle back into Henry's body, and the cracks began to close.

During this process, his body started to change; his muscles bulged, although not too much, but they were bigger than before.

He got taller in an instant; his physical and facial features became sharper, more refined, and noticeable.

His clothes couldn't keep up with the development, so they tore.

She called this process "Body Reconstruction." It was the first time she had seen anything like it.

Yes, Miracles (people that use mana) have their bodies develop unusual strengths and flexibility, but she had never heard of one that changes the whole body and bone structure.

There was also some black liquid coming out from every hole in his body; she understood this since it wasn't the first time she was seeing it.

It's a process where Miracles expel blood clots so that their energy flow through their veins can be smoother. They also use this process to expel any kind of diseases; that's why they rarely die of sickness and mostly suffer backlash from the skills they practice and beasts.

"Considering the recent changes and their similarities to familiar cases, I can conclude that Henry has now become a Miracle."
