Chapter 86 - Meeting the God-King Varvatos

The next morning dawned bright and warm over the radiant city of Nyvaris, the capital of peace and power—a shining beacon of civilization. Rimuru awoke refreshed in the guest wing of Veldora's manor. Outside, he could hear the distant chatter of city life: laughter, merchants shouting, and the rhythmic clanking of armor as soldiers patrolled.

The room was luxurious. Magical silk curtains swayed with a breeze that always smelled faintly of cherry blossoms. Pillows fluffed themselves. Even the tea on the table poured itself when Rimuru thought about drinking.

"Man, this place is seriously amazing…" Rimuru murmured, relaxing in his slime form, which gently wobbled with each breath of awe.

Before he could enjoy another second, the door burst open.

"RIMURU!" Veldora announced like a one-man parade, hands on his hips, cape flaring. "Get ready! You're meeting my best friend today!"

"You say that like I'm not still in slime pajamas…" Rimuru groaned.

Veldora strode in, picked Rimuru up like a football, and hoisted him onto his shoulder again. "Come! It's time to meet the greatest being in this world… the God of Nyvaris—Varvatos!"

"Wait—GOD of Nyvaris?!" Rimuru gasped.

"Yep!" Veldora grinned. "He built this entire city with his own magic, rules it as its guardian deity, and he's the strongest existence besides, well, you-know-who."

Rimuru blinked. **"Seriously!? A god built this place? And we're just walking over for a casual visit!?"

"Of course! He's my best buddy," Veldora said, puffing out his chest. **"You'll love him!"

They arrived at the central spire of Nyvaris—a palace that towered over the city like a monument to magic and grace. Crafted of radiant blue crystal and enchanted white stone, it shimmered in sunlight. The gates opened as Veldora approached, no guards necessary.

Inside, the palace felt like another realm. There were floating platforms carrying garden beds, glowing runes on every surface, and halls that stretched beyond logic. Magic flowed through the air like music.

At the very heart of the palace, nestled in a serene throne chamber lined with moonlight-glass pillars, was Varvatos.

He reclined comfortably on a celestial couch, head rested on the lap of a regal woman with long, flowing white hair—Velzard, the Ice Dragon. She was feeding him grapes with practiced elegance.

"Varvatos, I brought someone—" Veldora began.

But before he could finish, Varvatos lifted a hand and smiled. "Rimuru Tempest."

Rimuru jolted. "You know me!?"

"Of course," Varvatos said as he stood. His voice was smooth and deep, carrying power behind every word. **"You've made quite the ripple through fate."

"He does that," Veldora muttered proudly.

Varvatos walked over, arms folded behind his back. He wore divine robes, stitched with starlight thread and lined in celestial blue. His eyes—like miniature galaxies—shimmered with warmth.

"Welcome to Nyvaris, Rimuru. I'm Varvatos. And this," he gestured elegantly, "is Velzard the ice dragon—Veldora's older sister."

Velzard gave a graceful nod. "It's nice to finally meet you, little slime."

"Y-You're Veldora's sister?!" Rimuru flailed. **"How many of you dragons are out there!?"

"Enough to chill the world if we wanted," she said with a faint smirk.

Rimuru gulped.

They all sat—well, Veldora sprawled on a floating bench—and began chatting. Rimuru shared parts of his story, his rebirth, his first encounters, his friends, and his misadventures. In turn, Varvatos explained a little of Nyvaris' history—how he created it as a sanctuary for all races, free of war, built on the ideals of balance, strength, and peace.

After some time, Varvatos sipped his tea, then leaned forward with a small, knowing smile.

"Rimuru… would you like a human form?"

Rimuru's slime body bounced. **"Wait, what?! I mean… YES—but how?!"

"I am a god, remember?" Varvatos said. **"Such things are simple for me."

Veldora clapped excitedly. **"You're gonna love this, Rimuru! He did mine too! Watch closely!"

Varvatos extended one glowing finger. A small sphere of divine light appeared at the tip, swirling with golden and blue hues. He pointed it toward Rimuru, and the light shot forward, gently embedding itself in Rimuru's gelatinous body.

Rimuru stiffened.

"Whoa, I feel… weird. Tingly? Warm? H-Hot—wait, what's happening—"

His slime body began to glow. It expanded, pulsing with magic. Slowly, his round shape stretched upward, growing limbs, a torso, a neck. Fingers. Hair. A heartbeat.

Moments later, the light dimmed, and where once a bouncing slime sat now stood a young man—elegant, with sharp features and deep blue hair that shifted gently with magic. His eyes were sapphire, full of curiosity and power. His body was lean but strong, about a head shorter than Veldora.

He was dressed in divine robes—black, silver, and blue—styled uniquely with a flowing coat and a crystal insignia over his chest.

Rimuru blinked.

"…Whaaaaaaat!?"

Velzard smiled softly. "You look better than I expected."

A mirror appeared before Rimuru, conjured with a snap of Varvatos' fingers. Rimuru stepped closer and gasped.

"THAT'S ME?! I look—amazing! I HAVE HAIR!"

He turned in place. Twirled. Flexed an arm.

"I HAVE ARMS! I CAN FLEX! I CAN WALK!" He nearly tripped.

Veldora laughed hysterically. **"GUH-HA-HA-HA! You look like a little prince!"

Varvatos nodded. "This body is fully yours. You can switch between your slime form and human form at will now. And most importantly—"

He snapped his fingers again.

A piece of cake floated in front of Rimuru.

Rimuru took a bite instinctively. His eyes widened. His pupils sparkled. He fell to his knees.

**"…I… can TASTE…!"

Varvatos chuckled. **"You can taste, feel, touch… everything a human can now. Enjoy it. This is my gift to you."

Rimuru jumped up and hugged him without thinking. "THANK YOU!! I CAN FINALLY EAT SHUNA'S COOKING!"

Velzard giggled behind her hand. "You'll regret that when she gets too experimental."

Veldora nodded solemnly. **"There is truth in her words."

Rimuru laughed. This was surreal. He wasn't just visiting a new world anymore. He was living, feeling, tasting it now. And he had powerful friends—no, family—who were opening it up to him.

And in that moment, standing among gods, dragons, and legends… he felt at home.

Rimuru twirled again in front of the mirror, his new human form shimmering slightly under the magical glow of the palace lights. He ran his fingers through his hair—blue and silky—and stretched his arms out.

"I can't believe I have joints… actual fingers… toes!" he wiggled them proudly. "This is wild!"

Veldora patted his back with such enthusiasm that Rimuru stumbled forward.

"You look the part of a mighty hero now!" Veldora declared. **"Now, let's test the most important part—your taste buds!"

Varvatos smiled knowingly. "I believe the royal dining hall has already prepared a welcome feast. Shall we?"

Velzard floated up from her seat, elegant and composed. "I'll join as well. I'm curious to see how the little slime handles gourmet food."

"Hey, I'm not a slime anymore! Well… kinda?" Rimuru laughed, following them down the corridor.

The dining hall was breathtaking—open air, lined with silver pillars and enchanted crystal trees glowing with twilight hues. A massive table hovered slightly above the ground, covered with floating platters of food from all across the world.

Sizzling grilled meats, steaming stews, golden breads, glistening fruits, and desserts layered with magical cream floated elegantly over glowing runes. Rimuru's eyes sparkled like a kid in a candy store.

"This… this is paradise." He floated forward in awe.

Benimaru, Hakuro, and even Shuna were already seated, smiling as they waited for him.

"Yo, Rimuru-sama!" Benimaru waved, raising a glass. **"Looking sharp!"

"Indeed," Hakuro nodded with approval. **"You carry yourself well… though your posture could use a little refinement."

"Gimme a break, I've had legs for five minutes."

Shuna beamed, hands clasped. **"I can't wait for you to try real food, Rimuru-sama. This moment is special."

He sat at the table, barely containing his excitement. The first dish floated to him—a bowl of creamy mushroom soup with bread on the side.

"Alright… moment of truth."

He dipped the spoon, brought it to his lips… and the world stopped.

Warm, rich, savory—the cream hugged his tongue like a cloud, the mushrooms melted in umami delight.

"…"

"Rimuru-sama?" Shuna tilted her head.

"I CAN TASTE IT!!" he shouted, slamming the table. **"THIS IS SO GOOD!! I WANNA CRY!!"

Everyone laughed—Benimaru nearly fell over.

"Try this next!" Veldora shoved a slice of roast boar into his plate. **"Grilled over volcanic flame, marinated in phoenix oil!"

Rimuru took a bite, then screamed internally from pure bliss.

"What is this flavor!? It's like… being hugged by lightning!"

Varvatos sipped tea calmly. **"Food has a way of making life feel more alive. Savor it."

Rimuru nodded while already stuffing cake in his mouth. **"Mmmhmhm—absolutely!"

Hours passed with laughter, food, and playful teasing. Rimuru tried every dish, learned he had a sweet tooth, and was already dreaming of future meals.

The Next Day....

Rimuru stood in the Training Colosseum of Nyvaris, a circular platform suspended in mid-air, surrounded by floating rocks and combat dummies shaped like monsters.

He stretched, cracking his new knuckles.

"Okay, new body means I need to re-learn everything… and maybe finally get abs."

"Hoh, aiming high already." came a calm voice.

Hakuro, dressed in his training robes, stepped forward, wooden sword in hand. Beside him was Benimaru, arms crossed, eyes burning with his usual battle-lust.

"We'll start with basics," Hakuro said. **"Posture, stance, breathing. Then combat flow."

"And I'll supervise," Benimaru added. **"We'll turn you into someone who can really fight in that new body."

"Am I allowed to cheat with magic?"

"Not until you can fight without it," Hakuro smirked.

The training began.

Step. Strike. Turn. Block. Breathe. Again.

Rimuru stumbled. Fell. Tripped over his own legs.

"You're moving like a toddler." Benimaru called out.

"I am a toddler! Spiritually!"

Hakuro corrected his stance, placing his hand firmly on Rimuru's shoulder.

**"Feel the earth through your feet. Trust your balance. Your center of gravity has changed. Adjust to it."

It took hours, and by the end, Rimuru was dripping with sweat.

But he was smiling.

"I… did a clean parry at the end!"

"Barely," Benimaru shrugged. **"But it's a start."

Suddenly, the wind shifted.

A golden shockwave exploded behind them, and Rimuru turned to see a blur land beside him with force.

"NOW it's MY turn!"

Veldora cracked his knuckles, eyes glowing. **"I shall bestow the ultimate sibling training upon you! Prepare yourself, Rimuru!"

"Uh oh."

"You must unlock your inner DRAGON SPIRIT!" Veldora struck a pose as lightning flashed behind him. (Magically conjured for effect.)

**"We're gonna start with a thousand punches against the Storm Pillar over there."

Rimuru sweatdropped. **"A thousand!?"

**"Per hand."

"HELP!"

Benimaru and Hakuro waved as they left.

"Good luck," Benimaru grinned.

"You'll thank us later," Hakuro added.

Rimuru stared up at the massive Storm Pillar, a magically reinforced rock tower meant to withstand even Varvatos' blows.

"Okay… no big deal. Just… dragon punches. How hard can it be?"

WHAM! His first punch bounced off harmlessly, shaking his whole body.

**"...Ow."

Veldora roared from behind.

**"AGAIN!"

By nightfall, Rimuru lay on the ground, arms limp.

**"I can't feel my everything…"

Velzard hovered nearby, amused. She gently offered him a bottle of enchanted cooling water.

"You survived Veldora's first lesson. You'll be stronger for it."

Rimuru took the bottle gratefully.

"At this rate, I'll have biceps in no time…"

"You might even develop abs," Velzard teased.

He grinned weakly. **"Worth it."

And as he looked up at the Nyvaris night sky, filled with floating stars and clouds shaped by magic, Rimuru knew this was just the beginning. He had a new form, new experiences, and a family of powerful allies.

And tomorrow? He'd punch that Storm Pillar again.
