Chapter 60 - Chapter 60

[Advanced Perfect Starter Trio Mission: Use Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle and their evolved forms to defeat three famous Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise! Repeats allowed—must defeat three individuals of the same evolutionary line per type!]

[Mission Rewards: Choose one of three Mega Stones for the starter trio, and choose one of three advanced items for the starter trio's exclusive Z-Moves!]

Kazuki's eyes widened at the reward list.

Mega Evolution Stones—he'd heard of those, of course. Charizard's XY forms especially left a deep impression.

Any of the three starters gaining a Mega Evolution? That would be a massive boost to his team.

But that part was still within expectations.

What really stunned him was the exclusive Starter Z-Move item.

From what Kazuki remembered, Pokémon capable of using Z-Moves were extremely rare.

And in the official canon? Charizard, Blastoise, and Venusaur never had their own exclusive Z-Moves.

And yet this system had gone and handed out starter-exclusive Z-Move upgrades.

Incredible. Truly worthy of the "Perfect Script" system.

Forget Arceus, the so-called Creator God—this system was the real Genesis power!

But these powerful, mysterious Z-Moves came with a challenge: defeating three iconic final-form starter Pokémon.

The Venusaur leader of the Forbidden Forest…

The ruler of Charicific Valley…

Or the ones used by other powerful Trainers like Leon's G-Max Charizard or Alain's Mega Charizard X…

Each one was a legendary opponent in their own right.

Still—

"I'm the guy holding the Perfect Script. I don't care if it's a Legendary—I'll pluck a feather from it one way or another!"

Mission accepted.

The path to becoming the world's strongest starter trio team… began now.

With his excitement barely under control, Kazuki turned his focus to prepping Charmander and Squirtle for evolution. He needed a believable reason for the transformations—so time to find some wild Pokémon.

——————————————————

Kazuki's determination proved infectious.

Misty's eyes lit up with fighting spirit and she eagerly joined in on the hunt.

The two soon came across a flock of Spearow.

Misty sent out Staryu and had her newly caught Oddish tag along to gain experience.

Kazuki wasn't interested in grinding seriously—he just needed an excuse to use the exclusive EXP packs.

They easily cleared the Spearow group.

[Pokémon: Charmander – Lv.15 → Lv.20]

[Pokémon: Squirtle – Lv.13 → Lv.18]

[Pokémon: Bulbasaur – Lv.27 → Lv.32]

As soon as the EXP packs activated, Charmander and Squirtle lit up with evolution light.

The radiant glow immediately caught Misty's attention. She ran over, curious.

[Pokémon: Charmeleon – Lv.20]

[Pokémon: Wartortle – Lv.18]

"Wha?! Kazuki, you—" Misty's feet almost tripped over themselves in excitement.

"Your Charmander and Squirtle already evolved?! That's insanely fast!"

"They were already close," Kazuki replied smoothly. "The Spearow fight just pushed them past the threshold."

Misty couldn't sense exact levels, so the explanation worked perfectly.

"You're amazing!" she beamed, staring at Wartortle. The change in form had clearly reignited her curiosity.

"So that's what bald little Squirtle becomes, huh? Now I want one!"

"Huh?" Kazuki blinked, withdrawing the trio. "Didn't you grow up in a Water-type Gym? Haven't you seen Wartortle before?"

"I've seen pictures, okay? But not in real life!"

"That's exactly why I left home! The books don't tell you everything."

Kazuki chuckled and patted her head. "Well, good luck getting one now. That Squirtle's a civil servant now—can't just catch one off the street."

Misty puffed her cheeks. "I know! I'm just saying it's a little disappointing…"

"Then once we reach the coast, I'll help you catch a bunch of Water-types."

Her eyes lit up. "Really?!"

Their gazes met. Misty's cheeks went a bit pink.

But she quickly turned her head away. "B-but I'm not gonna slack off, okay?! I'll catch them myself! Just… help out if we run into something huge."

"Like a Gyarados?"

"…Yeah," Misty muttered. She'd been swallowed by one as a child—her trauma ran deep.

Kazuki nodded gently. He knew her fear of Gyarados well.

With the ocean ahead, Misty's disappointment faded, replaced by excitement once more.

Meanwhile, Kazuki distributed the 5 Basic Rare Candies he'd just earned.

[Pokémon: Pikachu – Lv.28 → Lv.30]

Clefairy was at Lv.29, but it hadn't been especially useful in combat.

Kazuki relegated it to his "second string," a specialty counter for weird matchups.

The other 3 candies? Reserved for Wartortle.

With the Advanced Perfect Starter Mission underway, upgrading the starter trio was now his top priority.

Once the candies were distributed, he caught up to Misty and the two picked up the pace toward the ocean.

Just as Kazuki was daydreaming about what rare Water-types might appear by the coast—

[Ding! Mission Triggered: Defeat the Giant Dragonite at Lighthouse!]

............

????????

Kazuki's brain short-circuited.

"I'm not the one with questions, System. YOU'VE got issues!"
