Chapter 12 - Pain

Slowly, Selene was pulled to her feet. She held onto her Saviour's waist while her head listened to his heartbeat.

"I'm Sorry, I didn't mean to go through your stuff" she apologized without raising her head.

"You don't want to talk to me? Do you know how sad I have been since last night? I couldn't sleep last night." She pressed her head tightly against his body. " Say something, please," she begged in a baby voice.

"Huh, Huh, Huh!" He cleared his voice. " But I'm not angry with you, Le..." He was cut shut by Selene who didn't allow him to finish off.

"Are you serious? Or are you just saying it so I can let go of you?" She asked, her head up trying to look at Lewie's face, but was shocked when she saw who she had been holding.

All this while she held the waist of the man who had saved, and was apologizing, she thought it was Lewie who saved her but she never knew it was Leon.

In shock, she tried to push Leon away but she lost her balance and ended up falling, hitting her butt on the ground.

"Sorry, Selene," Leon offered her a hand, but she rejected it instantly without staring at his face.

"No! I should be the one apologizing; I'm sorry for holding you like that." She stood up, dusted her dress, and kept her distance from him.

Though her face had a smile on it, it didn't stop Leon from noticing the displeasure on her face. He withdrew his hands back, his face covered in embarrassment.

"Alright, take care. I will be on my way now, you know where you can find me if you need me?" He left without looking back.

Leon had noticed the tension between them from last night till this morning; he had his eyes on every movement they made in the house.

The thought of causing more conflict arose, but he thought it wasn't the perfect time yet.

Finally, Selene breaths out; she has been holding her breath since the moment she noticed she was holding onto Leon, think Lewie.

Looking at the dish, she woke up early to prepare on the floor; she couldn't help but let out two drops of tears.

"Looks like I wasted my time in cooking this?" She asked no one but herself.

With her eyes full of tears, she grabbed a mop and cleaned up the mess on the ground. While cleaning the floor Lewie passes her. Without uttering a word to her, he left for the office.

Some hours later, Selene had nothing to do; her eyes wandered around, looking for something to keep her company. She decided to scroll through social media.

Just then, a notification drew her attention, doubting if her eyes were deceiving. She clicked the message to confirm what she saw.

Selene was offered Admission to the university of her choice.

"Yes," she shouted happily, her fist flying high in the air.

She was one step away from her dream; even though Lewie had been giving her attitude, she couldn't stop being grateful for the help he had offered her.

"I will wait for Lewie and Uncle to come back, so I can share this good news with them," she decided within herself.

While she waited for them to be back, the sky lost its complexion. Slowly, it drizzled, and then the sky gave way to a heavy downpour.

Making sure there was warm water beside her, Selene was in the sitting room, her eyes fixed on the door, awaiting their return.

Car horn and the sound of door jamming woke the already sleepy Selene up.

She poured out a small portion of warm water into the cup and walked towards Lewie, who had just returned.

Lewie held his briefcase unbothered, his tie loss and his shirt button was almost open. His chest and abs were visible to the eyes, his eyes tired, his mind stressed but this didn't stop him from looking hot and sexy.

"Here." Selene offered him a cup of warm water, but he didn't even stop to take a look at her.

"I know you haven't had any warm water today, why don't you take this and keep yourself warm?" She asked and offered him the cup of warm water again.

No response

Selene blocked Lewie's path. "Even if you are angry, you should take some warm water to keep your body warm, so you can have the energy to keep getting angry." Selene tried sweet-talking Lewie into accepting the water.

Lewie didn't even go in Selene's direction; he walked away like no one stood before him.

Selene carried the water gently and followed Lewie, but she noticed he had increased his footsteps. She tried meeting up with him.

"Ouch!!" Selene shouted in pain.
