Chapter 38: Kraxxar's Death
The air was thick—heavy with death and dread.
Kraxxar stared at Lei Feng across the battlefield. His hunched, beastly form radiated a suffocating aura of malice. Tendrils of dark energy coiled around his hulking frame, slithering like hungry serpents. He was no longer just a goblin king—he was a harbinger of ruin.
Lei Feng's grip tightened around Stormpiercer.
Lightning cracked softly around him—no longer blue, but deep violet. It danced across his frame like a living entity, a spirit of vengeance called forth by sheer will. His eyes, once cold and clear, now glimmered crimson at the edges. Bloodlust. Battle intent. Fury.
Kraxxar's instincts screamed in warning.
Then—
ZZZZAAAAAK—CRACK!
Purple lightning erupted like a god's fury, wreathing Lei Feng in arcs of divine rage.
> "Lightning Steps."
BOOM!
He vanished.
No cry. No warning.
Just a blur of purple lightning.
He reappeared mid-air, Stormpiercer raised high like the judgment of heaven descending. Kraxxar's massive arms snapped into a defensive cross, anticipating a body strike.
But Lei Feng didn't strike his body.
He soared higher—defying gravity itself.
> "Lightning Strike!"
A clap of thunder roared, splitting the sky like a divine decree.
Then—
SLASH!
Stormpiercer cleaved downward with unstoppable force, the sword now a thunderbolt incarnate. Kraxxar's eyes widened—he had left his head exposed.
Too slow.
The blade struck the crown of his skull.
SPAAARK—CRASH!!
The beast was launched backward like a meteor, smashing through trees, carving a crater into the earth. Chunks of rock flew, trees cracked like dry twigs, and a dust cloud engulfed the carnage.
Lei Feng stood before the ruin, panting, his body trembling. His skin was pale, veins pulsing from the energy expended. Stormpiercer hummed in his hand, greedily drinking in the leftover lightning.
His will, however, was unshaken.
He walked silently, boots crunching against the scorched ground. Dust settled slowly, revealing the shattered remains of Kraxxar—burnt, broken, bleeding.
But Lei Feng didn't lower his sword.
Something wasn't right.
---
Silence.
Then—
From Kraxxar's skull, black tendrils began to slither out—like shadows made liquid. His chest split open with a sickening crack, revealing a core of pulsating darkness—etched with runes that bled crimson light and hissed like serpents.
Lei Feng's brow twitched.
> "Dark magic..."
Kraxxar's voice returned, but it was no longer a beast's growl.
It was a chorus of the damned.
> "You… think this is over? The Hunger… never dies…"
The corpse shuddered—then twisted.
Darkness engulfed him.
His bones snapped and realigned.
Flesh regenerated, bubbling like boiling pitch.
Runes stitched across his skin like living scars.
The wound in his skull sealed, covered by crawling flesh.
It was a grotesque scene.
Ding!
> Warning! Kraxxar, the Devourer, has activated a Forbidden Skill of the Shamans – Dark Rebirth.
The ground trembled.
A shriek echoed—not from Kraxxar, but from the thousands of souls he had devoured. Goblins. Beasts. Eldritch things with no names.
Kraxxar stepped forward—reborn.
His body pulsed with chaotic veins, eyes blazing like two blood moons.
His presence? Like the collapse of worlds.
Lei Feng did not waver.
He welcomed it.
Purple lightning surged around him again.
> "Good," he said, smiling grimly. "Now die properly."
---
They clashed.
Kraxxar lunged, claws leaving behind trails of corrupted glyphs.
Lei Feng met him mid-air, lightning trailing behind him like comet tails.
BOOM!
Dark mana exploded from Kraxxar's claw—a tidal wave of entropy that scorched the earth, turned stone to black glass and trees to ash. Lei Feng weaved through it, moving like a phantom, though every impact left gashes and bruises on his body.
> "You cannot win," Kraxxar rasped, his voice now a thousand-voiced abomination.
"You stand… against the Abyss itself!"
He began chanting in a forgotten tongue:
> "Thar'zoth… Mal-Keir… Shum'ni Irridonn!"
Rune crystals pulsed to life. The dark core in his chest cracked open like an eye, and from the abyss came a chorus—voices lost to time:
> "Blood to ash, and ash to bone,
Open the gate where death has grown.
Flesh unmade and soul unspun,
Darkness rise, the deed undone."
> "From beneath the dying star,
Bring the beast from lands afar.
Let him drink of cursed breath,
And rise once more to dance with death."
Trees trembled. Winds howled. The ground cracked.
Lei Feng bled from his nose—but his eyes gleamed with warlike brilliance.
> "I don't stand against it," he spat blood. "I cut through it!"
He stabbed Stormpiercer into the ground.
> "Lightning Pulse!"
BOOOOM!!!
Electricity burst outward in a radial wave, shattering glyphs and severing dark tendrils.
Kraxxar staggered.
But not for long.
The monster roared, summoning a black orb into his chest cavity. The dark core blazed with unstable power.
> "Human... Die!"
Dark incantations spiraled from his mouth, forming runes of annihilation.
Lei Feng's vision blurred. Time slowed. His instincts screamed—don't let him finish.
He moved.
Lightning blurred his form. Each step cracked the earth.
Stormpiercer became a streak of divine wrath.
Kraxxar swung—
Lei Feng slipped past.
Then—
> "Lightning Slash!"
A scream of lightning, shaped like a blade, tore through Kraxxar's chest and pierced the glowing core.
The beast screamed—not in pain, but in terror.
BOOOOOM!!!
A shockwave erupted.
Lei Feng was flung like a broken arrow through the air, crashing through tree after tree until his mangled body finally skidded to a halt.
He was bleeding. Bones fractured. Skin torn. His breathing shallow.
But his eyes... still burned.
---
Kraxxar stood.
Barely.
His body mutated uncontrollably, swelling grotesquely, flesh bubbling with chaotic energy.
> "No… no… I won't fall to a lesser being!" he roared.
He lurched forward, each step unstable, bloated limbs dragging. He looked like a ticking bomb—his body pulsing, splitting, and glowing with unstable power.
Lei Feng could barely move.
He tried crawling—hands trembling, blood staining the earth.
> "If I can't kill you… we'll die together!!" Kraxxar howled.
He surged forward.
But he never made it.
His body hit its threshold.
BOOOOOOOOM!!!
Kraxxar exploded—shattered into a thousand searing fragments of bone and shadow.
---
Silence.
Then—

Lei Feng dropped to one knee.
His ribs cracked with the motion. His body was numb—shredded.
But inside, he felt it—
Something had awakened.
From the crater, a single shard remained, floating in a pool of black ichor. It pulsed, whispering in an unknown tongue.
> "You may have defeated me… but the darkness remains…"
Then it faded into mist.
Lei Feng watched it disappear… and felt something foreign.
Pity? Sorrow?
> Why… do I feel like I've lost something?

A sudden surge of warmth coursed through him.
Whoosh—
His wounds stitched themselves closed. His broken bones realigned with crackling pops. The dense mana around him rushed into his core like a tidal wave, purifying his body.
His eyes fluttered shut.
Rejuvenation.
His body pulsed with new strength, refined by the fires of battle.
He lay among the ruins, letting the silence cradle him. The wind brushed gently across his face.
The storm had passed.
And with it…
a part of the old him had died too.
> "I will grow stronger."
"No matter the cost."
Then darkness claimed him—
And he slept.
