Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: Axel(2)

"Welcome sir, what can I do for you?"

Barely arrived, Sanguinius was able to access the receptionist directly, thanks to the ridiculously low number of adventurers present in the establishment.

There was literally no queue.

'Is this really an adventurers' guild?'

The atmosphere could be described as gloomy, especially compared to the time of Kazuma's registration in the original story.

"Hello, I'd like to register as an adventurer."

The receptionist appeared slightly surprised when she laid eyes on Sanguinius, but she quickly regained her professional demeanor.

'Is he a young nobleman?'

At first, she thought she would be handling a quest request, but Sanguinius came out with an unexpected response from her perspective.

Normally, nobles are just curious about this profession. After all, several ancestors of the current king had been heroes or adventurers.

But to become an adventurer oneself?

Why would a nobleman do something so useless and masochistic?

It's like a politician secretly joining the army out of curiosity... a pointless gesture, except during special events like an election campaign.

Thus, the receptionist classified the man before her as "abnormal," just like Kazuma and his group.

"I understand. But are you sure you understand the details of this profession?" she said, examining him from head to toe, as if he were some kind of circus freak.

An attitude that initially annoyed Sanguinius, before he understood his mistake.

'I'm wearing clothes that are too high quality!'

Unlike Kazuma, who looked like a lost tourist in cosplay, Sanguinius wore an outfit inspired by ancient Greece, luxurious and clearly beyond the reach of common people.

Even after toning down his beauty with his transformation magic, he still looked like a young master from a noble house.

'I should have changed clothes before coming here.'

It was a small mistake, but it could influence the first impression he gave to those around him.

Despite this mental complaint, he ended up gritting his teeth and temporarily accepting this misunderstanding.

"Yes, it's like freelancing, with a bit of monster hunting thrown in."

"Freelancing?" The blonde receptionist frowned, clearly confused by this strange and unknown word.

Sanguinius took the time to explain calmly, to avoid being taken for a lunatic... which was technically too late.

"So... adventurers are like freelancers. People who do anything for money, except illegal stuff?"

"Exactly. You've got it."

She nodded with a satisfied look, proud of her summary.

'Even if he is a strange nobleman, he remains cultured.'

Receptionist Luna smiled more after this realization about the young man before her.

"Excellent. In that case, I can skip some steps, since you already seem to know the nature of your new job."

The receptionist rummaged through her things for a moment, before handing Sanguinius a card.

The object was roughly the size of a driver's license and appeared to be a kind of ID card just by its appearance.

Luna began to explain without delay:

"Look here; do you see the word 'Level'? As you probably know, all things in the world have a soul, regardless of their form..."

To put it simply, all things in the Konosuba universe can provide "exp" or "experience points."

These are actually part of the soul of the creature defeated or consumed by a person.

Thus, it's possible to gain levels without killing monsters yourself, and simply settle for eating rare creatures, like a certain princess.

If you eat or kill a being, you can absorb part of the memory of its soul, called "Experience Points."

"Thanks to this guild card, you can see your level and the number of experience points absorbed by you..."

The guild card displays the experience points absorbed by the adventurer.

The level, which corresponds to your experience points.

This indicates the strength of the adventurer to some extent, but there are anomalies like Kazuma.

People who use their skills in ways too unique to measure their strength with a simple number.

The card also measures the number of enemies defeated, also recorded to prove to the guild the completion of quests.

Thus, with the accumulation of experience points, all creatures will quickly become stronger at some point... at least if you have enough "talent."

In summary, leveling up gives you many advantages, like skill points to learn new skills and become stronger.

Simple and effective, right?

However, there's a small thing in this system:

The non-existence of stat points!!!

If that existed, then Aqua and Kazuma would have long been the strongest.

So, an individual's talent is summarized by their natural and acquired predispositions during their life.

That's why, despite Aqua's absurd magical power, she couldn't improve her intelligence and properly use her archpriest class.

'You can't change your starting talent in Konosuba, unless you change bodies (or modify it with rare resources or training) or manage to get another class.'

"I hope you've grasped the explanations," she said, before catching her breath a bit.

'She's been surprisingly nice to me. So this is "Lookism"? I'm not complaining.'

"Now, please indicate your height, weight, age, and other details in the blank spaces."

Sanguinius filled out the form that was handed to him by the receptionist.

He was 1.92 m tall and weighed 89 kg.

He hesitated a bit on the age, but he ended up putting his correct age, for fear of damaging the magical artifact.

Fortunately for everyone, the receptionist was professional enough not to take a look.

"That's perfect, please touch this card. It will display the strength of each of your skills to help you choose your job."

He did as requested, and it didn't take long to observe changes within his guild card.

"... Very well, thank you. Mr. Sanguinius, right? Let's see... Strength, vitality, magic, agility, and speed... Everything is ???"

She seemed confused for a moment, before re-reading the information and looking at him again.

'Has she ended up seeing the age?'

This question slightly embarrassed Sanguinius, but he comforted himself by saying that young girls appreciate older men.

"Your physical stats alone are 350 times...? No, that would be around 1500 to 1700 times the strength of an ordinary human... magical energy.... Good grief!!"

She took her eyes off the guild card, before looking at Sanguinius like a monster in human skin.

"Who are you... No, what are you!?"

What?!

'Am I that strong? And why is it a problem, anyway?!'

Despite the receptionist's accusations, Sanguinius kept an impassive face on the surface.

"You just literally shouted my personal information... can I receive compensation for that?"

The best defense? It's attack!!!

Sorry miss, but I don't want to face an entire city of adventurers as soon as I arrive... Wait a minute!! Wouldn't that make a good stream
