Chapter 7 - 7th Sense

A mysterious man wearing an old and tattered cloak appeared behind Ash Magnus.

"You have an amazing power young man, do you mind if I talk to you?"

The man spoke with a deep voice, and an incredible Ki can be felt coming from the unknown person.

Ash didn't know what to do at his current situation where he was caught red handed by a strong stranger.

"Damn it! If only the system has a way to detect other people's presence, I wouldn't be in this kind of situation."

[The system has that kind of feature, and it can detect enemies' presence in a kilometer radius, but it costs mana every hour of use. Do you want to activate it?]

"Isn't it too late now? Can't you see that I'm already caught red-handed? Anyways, how much mana does it cost per hour? And how much mana can I regenerate in an hour?"

[The feature uses 1 mana per hour, and at the current level of the user, he can regenerate 2 mana per hour.]

"So, basically if I use it, my mana won't be affected right?. Hmm, alright activate it."

[Affirmative.]

[Activating 7th Sense.]

[7th Sense Activated.]

Ash can now see a small map at the lower left corner of his peripheral view.

[The white dot indicates the user's location, and the red dot(s) indicates the deemed enemy's location.]

"It seems he was alone."

"Young one? Are you still there?"

The unknown man asked again as he felt ignored.

"Oh! Yes, I'm sorry. I was still in the process of understanding everything that happened to me, I apologize."

Ash turned around and saw the man wearing a hoodie cloak.

"May I know you name, mister?"

"I am Demittrius Aurillius, a professor of Eagle-Spear Academy. But you can call me Demittry or any names you preferred."

The unknown man introduced himself as he lift his hoodie and show his face. He was blonde and has a beard from his chin down to his jawline.

"I apologize for interrupting your time. I was just passing by earlier when I saw you used your ability, and I can't seem to just ignore an incredible talent. I will be direct to you young one, what do you think of enrolling into the Kingdom's Academy?"

Demittry asked with an enthusiastic face.

"Hold up. Let me ask you a question first, how much did you see? What's in it for you, I mean why do you want me to enroll into your Academy? And what can I get from it?"

"Woah! Give me a minute, I've never been question like this before."

Demittry deemed Ash a rather interesting one lad, as he have never met someone who hesitates to answer "yes" when they were invited into the academy. And all his questions wasn't normal for someone his age.

"Well, for starters, our Academy lacks of talented young students and we are much in need of them, which is why when I saw you absorb those bodies, I thought to myself that letting your wonderful talent go to waste will be a big mistake. Secondly, I won't get anything from inviting you into the academy as I am only doing this for you, for my Alma mater, and for the people in this Kingdom. And lastly, you can get many things just by enrolling, you can get a proper training for your talent, a healthy environment where you can live and train properly, and have a proper learning towards the world. So, shall I take you in? If not, I couldn't promise not to say anything about your ability to the authorities, but if you choose to go with me, I will protect your secret."

Said Demittry.

"Now, that's just a complete blackmailing Demittry."

Ash argued.

"Ohh! Hehe my bad, so what do you think?"

Demittry playfully disregard Ash's argument.

"What a sly old man."

Ash thought.

[The system couldn't detect any hint of lie in Demittry's words. The system advise that the user should take the offer.]

"Thanks system."

"Hmm, is that so? Then I will take your offer but in a few conditions."

Ash needed an assurance before taking Demittry's offer.

"Let's hear it."

"Before taking your offer, I want you to be the responsible for everything that will happen to me, and everything I do."

Ash glared at Demittry's eyes.

"Alright, I have no problem with that. If that's all, then we should take a leave now before someone catches us."

Hopping back to the top of the building, Demittry calls out for Ash.

"Catches us? What do you mean by that!?"

Ash shouted to Demittry, but then he saw in his own map many red dots coming towards his location. That's when he decides to jumped to the top of the building and follow Demittry.

"Hey Demittry, how did you know that there are people approaching to our location?"

"Easy. When you gain so much experience in life, it is easier to anticipate the enemy's moves before they reach you."

[Demittry seems to be smarter and more intelligent than the user.]

"Shut up!"

Demittry was leading Ash to the Kingdom Academy.

There are so many questions running through Ash's mind, and he was bored. So, he asked all the questions he could think of, in order to have a conversation as they hopped between buildings to buildings.

"Hey, uhm. What's it like to be in the Academy?"

"Well, I don't know if I can answer that for you because we all have our own perspectives. What enjoys me might bores you, and vice versa. But hey, all the kids there was living a happy life, so, you should be fine."

"Am I free with everything that the Academy could offer? I mean, I'm not from there, and there should be like a tax or something that must be paid, right?"

"You don't have to worry about that, as long as you don't violate any laws in the Academy, your life there will be an easy one. Well, except for the trainings."

Demittry shrugged his shoulders.

"Except for the trainings? Why?"

"Well you see, I am not the only professor in the Academy, and… how should I say it. The other professors are a bit peculiar in their teachings. But don't worry, you won't die there. As long as you endure their trainings, I promise you that you will definitely improve your talent."

Demittry explains as he halted for a moment.

"Why did we stop here? We are still far from the Academy right?"

"I have been hopping and hopping for the entire day. We will just take a little bit of rest here and then we can continue on our way."

Pulling out his water bottle, Demittry sat at the edge of the building and take a huge gulp of water to satisfy his thirst.

"Anyways, wasn't I a bit too late to be enrolled for the semester?"

Ash asked as he sat beside Demittry.

"Huh? No, the classes hasn't started yet, since the Academy year only ended about 2 weeks ago."

"Then am I not too early to get enrolled? Is it okay?"

Ash worriedly asked.

"No, the earlier you enrolled to the Academy, the better. Because you will have more time to familiarize your new environment, right?"

"Hmm, that makes sense."

"And hey, there are a lot of pretty faces at the Academy, so you can find your wife there as well."

Ash's face went bright red after hearing Demittry's words.

"What!? I am still fifteen years old though! Looking for a wife is only for the adults."

Ash argued.

"Where have you been living all along? Fifteen years olds are considered adults, you know. So, stop being embarrassed and just try to find your significant other when you attend the Academy, okay?"

Demittry explained, and Ash couldn't argue anymore, as he didn't want to reveal another secret of his.

"Why do you guys needed many students? I mean, what for?"

Ash continues to bombard his questions to Demittry.

"The world was experiencing many hardships right now, the monsters who roamed the world are beginning to multiply their numbers rapidly even as we speak. We needed to teach many younger and talented students to help us fend off those monster forces."

"How do you guys do that? I mean, do you guys raid their homes, or you just defend your land when they attack? And why is there monsters in the world? Where did they came from?"

Sighing from all the questions being thrown at him, Demittry closed his eyes before starting to tell the story.

"Around 20 years ago. The monsters, as well as powers came into this world after The Big One occurred. One of the stars closest to this planet exploded and sends meteors into this world. At first we thought it was just a normal meteors but after a few years, those meteors was revealed to be a space ships used by an entity that we haven't had any knowledge about. And people around the world started to experience things where they can controls elements among many other things. From then on, we called that event The Big One. And for your other questions, we defend and we attack, kid."

Demittry said as he took another huge sip of water from his bottle.

[Pft! Kid.]

"Will you please shut up!?"

"I have a name though, its Ash Magnus, and not Kid."

Ash replied rolling his eyes in anger, as the system teased him.

Demittry's eyes widens and he was choked by the water that he's been drinking when he heard Ash's full name.

"Did he say Magnus? How... How is he related to the King!?"
