Chapter 29 - Return of the King Part 2

The Kingdom remained silent, and a few of the humans charged to attack. Xavier simply cast a wall to block, bouncing the humans safely to the ground.

Eva spoke next.

"Your Emperor is not sending reinforcements here. We have this on good authority. You are free to remain here and live under us. Your lives will continue as normal, but the days of discrimination and elven persecution are no more. If you disagree with our ways, or wish to return to another human kingdom, we will allow you to safely leave." Eva said.

"Bullshit! You're going to kill us all" one of the humans yelled.

"Ya, he's right! We have families and children to protect. How can we trust you when our King died by your hand!" an angry woman shouted.

"Your King and General Igor attacked us, in retaliation for taking our land back. Your King also tried to kill Princess Stefania in cold blood during the pre-battle parlay period. We do not wish to harm any of you. If you do not have a home, we will build you one. We will introduce elves slowly. Anyone who makes an attempt on our lives will face a trial, where judgement will be given," Xavier yelled.

"Our King was an evil bastard who taxed us so hard we could barely live!" a human yelled.

"Yeah! And we're only in this mess because he got us dragged into it!"

The three elves were pleased that some did oppose the King.

"You will all pay a monthly tax of 5% of your income, which will go into food supply and Kingdom demands. We also came defenseless. For those of you who wish to leave, please take your leave," Jax said.

Nearly half the humans cheered. The other half made their way out, several trying to make a move on one of the three elves. They simply used their earth walls to prevent anyone from harming them and did not attack anyone leaving.

Once everyone was out, several carriages approached the Kingdom, bearing the MeadowSong banner.

Stepping out from one was Queen Raina, herself.

Nearly 200 elves stepped out of carriages and asked if they could approach.

"Well citizens, we have visitors. Do you accept them?" Jax asked.

"That's fine with me! Elf or human doesn't matter! 5% from 60% I could kiss the gods today!" a human yells and cheers welcomed to the new faces to SilverCrest.

"Pardon our uninvited arrival, but I am Queen Raina of MeadowSong. If any of you would like to return with us to MeadowSong, we are more than willing to accept you!"

Surprisingly, six families stepped forward, in ragged clothes, half starved.

"We will take you up on that offer. Can you please help us? Our son is sick and we don't know why," one mother asked, falling to her knees in tears.

To the woman's surprise, Raina reached for her hand, used a little bit of regenerative magic and helped the woman up.

"Where is your son and his Father?"

"Abe, get over here with Abe Jr, right now!"

"Are you sure V? They're elves…"

The woman known as V stormed over to her husband, slapped him, demanding he take their child and apologize to the Queen.

Abe reluctantly walked up, apologized and said, "please, anything you can do to help him. He's been sick for weeks and we're out of food and medicine."

"May I please hold him?"

V returned and put her hand on her husband's shoulder, reassuring him.

"Yes, your majesty. Thank you," Abe said with a kind, but tired smile.

Raina grabbed the baby boy and noticed he was near death.

"Oh, my. Did the King not ever offer medical support for you or its citizens?"

"We spent every penny we earned on medicine and when we ran out of money, we were left homeless. We only got by stealing medicine after the King left," Abe said.

"That's very cruel. Your son will be as good as new."

Raina asked for Jax, who came over.

"Please cleanse the boy of his toxins and bacteria so that I can restore his health."

"Of course," Jax said and used his cleanse spell.

Visible black, green and yellow liquid left the child's body in front of 20,000 humans. They watched in amazement as Jax mixed the harmful liquid into water, solidified it and Eva burned the remains of it away.

"Restore," Raina said.

The baby started laughing and smiling, and the whole crowd erupted. 10 more families volunteered to go to MeadowSong, and the 200 elves unloaded a carriage with fresh food and water. They then took another carriage, with Xavier inside, to the Castle.

"A gift from MeadowSong, we shall be off now!"

As her carriages left, the elves made tables for everyone to sit and eat. Some hesitated, but by the end of the night, the attacks on the elves had ceased. Every attempt failed, and rather than execution, they were banished.

Within the 200 elves, 100 guards blended in and all of the elves, including some humans needing medical attention, returned to the castle.

After treating everyone, Jax and Eva walked into their new room to a giant surprise.

Xavier rebuilt the room, making it a home.

After walking through a luxurious living area, with silver sofas, they noticed a new master bedroom.

The bedroom included a brand new, king size mattress and very nice sheets, with a green comforter. There was a new master bathroom with a bath and shower combination, embedded with magic to heat the water and create a whirlpool if they wished.

They had plenty of clothes in their walk-in closet, from casual royalty clothing to spare noble robes, all in the colors and design of SilverCrest. They also had their formal council attire, in the event they were ever called back to Sanctuary.

"Sorry, I must be off, but I've also fixed your torch. Hope you enjoy your remodeled old home! Thank Raina for the mattress and sheets. Great job today. Light your torch if you need assistance. Sincerely, Xavier."

"It feels so good to be home and have you here with me. I never thought I'd see the day," Jax said.

Eva couldn't agree more and pounced on Jax, making love throughout the night.

They both finally fell asleep in the middle of the night, happily cuddled together.

The world was changing, slowly but surely.
