After their short discussion, they settled into another building for the night with Asher and Mika on watch. As the others settled into tensed slumber, Asher and Mika faced the waning fireplace— their expressions oddly serene.
"What?"
After a long stretch of unnerving silence, Mika scowled.
"Hmm?" Asher asked with a tilt of his head, confused.
"You know, I can sense your eyes on me." She said with deep disgust in her voice.
"Well, I can't help but be cautious with your kind." Asher replied dryly.
Mika's breath hitched slightly, her fingers tightening around the hilt of her sword.
"So you knew." She whispered, her voice barely reaching him.
Asher sighed with a bored expression, seemingly talking about the price of a random object.
"It would be too much of a hassle to start trouble. And you sisters are useful. I can't let such cards go too early."
Mika's eyes widened under her bangs as she threw her head back and laughed. Her laugh was unnerving and full of malicious intent.
