Chapter 79: I'm Going to Kill You!
During the clan meeting that day...
While the meeting was ongoing, Kei had already started plotting.
Originally, Uchiha Kei was still wondering where he could find a pair of strong brothers who were also at odds with him.
Coincidentally, Uchiha Yuu — that guy — just happened to jump out in front of Kei, which greatly surprised and delighted him.
When it came to people who disliked him, Uchiha Yuu was definitely one of the most resentful within the clan.
The one who hated him the most might have been Uchiha Hiroki — the guy Kei had ruthlessly threatened before — but in Kei's eyes, Hiroki wasn't even worth considering.
Sure, Hiroki held the title of a Jonin, but he had never even been to the battlefield. How could Kei possibly respect someone like that?
"Even though I survived by playing it safe too, at least I went to war!" Kei thought.
Besides looking down on Hiroki, there was also the fact that Hiroki seemingly had no brothers, so even if Kei dealt with him, it would be useless for Kei's current plans. He didn't intend to waste his time or effort on such a non-factor.
But Uchiha Yuu... he was another matter entirely.
Kei and Yuu had serious bad blood between them. The last time Kei had defied Uchiha Yuu's older brother, Uchiha Shuu, Yuu almost attacked him on the spot.
Although Shuu had stopped him in the end, Kei remembered it clearly. Strictly speaking, he really did have a grudge against this pair of brothers.
And most importantly, these two were key members of the "hardliner faction" within the Uchiha clan — a significant force among them.
In Kei's plans, there was absolutely no way he could let the hardliners off the hook.
While the fundamental reason for the Uchiha's downfall wasn't solely the hardliners, they had certainly accelerated it.
The "dovish faction" might have had the right ideas, but they underestimated the Third Hokage's scheming nature, eventually leading to the rise of two traitors.
The hardliners, however, were like lunatics, believing they could solve everything through brute force.
If they had truly been strong enough, that might have worked.
But as the saying goes: "Their ambition far exceeded their strength."
Thus, compared to the doves, Kei's first priority was to eliminate the dangerous hardliners completely — he couldn't afford to leave any hidden threats behind.
As for the doves... he wasn't planning to let them go either.
It was just that he'd deal with them later, once his plans were nearly complete.
Kei never thought of himself as some benevolent person. If someone was a nuisance, he would find a way to remove them without hesitation.
But before that, he needed to gain enough influence — enough authority — to act safely.
And if things didn't go according to plan... well, someone else would probably take care of the job for him.
"What a lucky break," Kei thought coldly, staring at Uchiha Yuu.
Since he had already made up his mind, he needed to plan things carefully. He couldn't afford to leave behind any evidence.
While Kei was lost in these messy thoughts, he naturally wasn't paying much attention to the clan meeting. In fact, he couldn't even be bothered to listen to what the others were arguing about.
It was just the same old thing: two factions yelling at each other, faces red with rage, refusing to back down.
But no matter how fierce the quarrel got, it was always up to Uchiha Fugaku to make the final decision.
Kei just coasted through the entire meeting.
Still, his absent-mindedness didn't go unnoticed.
He couldn't help it.
Kei's name was getting bigger and bigger — not just inside the Uchiha clan, but throughout Konoha as more and more ninja returned from the battlefield.
He was even being called the "Sharingan Hero."
Moreover, within the clan, Kei's status wasn't low either.
After he openly defied Uchiha Shuu, he had won Fugaku's public support.
Later, he was even invited to Fugaku's home for tea — a fact many had heard about.
Though the Uchiha compound was large, rumors spread fast.
Especially since Fugaku didn't exactly try to keep it secret.
In everyone's eyes, Kei had become an important figure.
Fugaku's favor toward him was seen as a clear signal.
That's why Kei's uncharacteristic silence today surprised many, including Uchiha Yuu.
Of course, Yuu had no idea that Kei's mind was entirely occupied with planning his death.
When the clan meeting finally ended, Kei immediately left the hall.
After spending the entire meeting thinking it over, he had basically figured out his plan.
Next, he just needed to quietly gather some intel on Yuu —
and once everything was ready, Kei would make him disappear from Konoha without leaving a trace.
As he was walking away, a voice suddenly called from behind:
"Kei-kun."
It was Uchiha Shuu.
"I must apologize for my younger brother's behavior earlier. He was out of line."
"There's no need for such fake politeness," Kei said, glancing back with a faint smile. "Wasn't he just here to deliver a message from you? I got it loud and clear."
Shuu was momentarily stunned.
Of course he knew what he had said before, but Kei's attitude was still unexpected.
Was this kid really planning to oppose them to the end?
Shuu frowned.
This wasn't good news.
He had thought Kei was smart — his actions on the battlefield had proven it.
But now it seemed the kid might be a fool after all.
Sure, his younger brother could be extreme sometimes, but if Kei couldn't even tolerate a little provocation and was willing to throw away a critical opportunity just to protect his fragile pride —
then he wasn't brave or wise.
He was just a fool.
"It seems Kei-kun needs some more time to think," Shuu said, before Kei could reply. "Of course, there's nothing wrong with that. Some choices... once made, there's no turning back."
"Thanks for the advice," Kei said lightly. "Fugaku-sama told me the same thing."
"I know exactly what choice I'm making — I don't need you to teach me."
Indeed, he didn't need any guidance.
Because—
I'm going to kill you.
