I didn't move. Couldn't.
The image was burned into my vision—Victor holding her like she belonged to him. Eva, with her soft smile and her trust, resting so easily against him.
She didn't know.
She had no idea the arms she was in were dipped in blood. No idea the smile pressed against her hair was the grin of a predator playing patient.
And I'd let this happen.
My hand was still half-raised, fingers curled as if they could pull her back from this distance. As if wanting her hard enough would snap the cord she couldn't even see tightening around her neck.
I backed away slowly, feet barely touching the ground. My body screamed to lunge forward, tear her away from him, consequences be damned.
But I couldn't. Cause that will tear her apart from me, forever.

I waited in the Alpha wing, pacing slowly near the door, arms crossed tightly. It has been two days since they went on that darned country tour and today was the day they were coming back.
