02# Ed: +75% damage to undead, +50 accuracy against undead, 15% reduced stamina consumption, 7% increased block chance (with shield).
14# Dor: 25% chance to make monsters flee upon hit, +7 full health recovery.
Among these, the +75% damage to undead, +50 accuracy against undead, 25% chance to make monsters flee, and +7 full health recovery all took effect, and additionally, Quirrell gained the "7% increased block chance" property.
A mass of grey substance was forcefully expelled from Quirrell's body—all of it happening as he was choking Harry Potter.
Any later, and it would've been Harry using his bleeding, injured hand to destroy Quirrell's body by touch.
The grey substance was Voldemort. He tried to repossess Quirrell's body, but was blocked by the "7% increased block chance."
The moment Quirrell was freed from Voldemort's control, he immediately let go of Harry and rolled to the side, trying to stay away. Although he had the will to resist Voldemort and was even prepared to sacrifice himself to eliminate him, that didn't mean he wasn't afraid.
Quirrell kept his distance from Voldemort, completely ignoring Harry's safety.
"Ed·Dor!"
Hermione once again landed a precise hit on the grey mass from outside the wall of fire. After being struck twice, Voldemort, affected by the "25% chance to make monsters flee," chose to escape.
Voldemort, however, was unwilling to accept failure. Without a physical body, he couldn't obtain the Sorcerer's Stone—even though it was only a few steps away. Out of spite, Voldemort charged straight at Harry. The grey mass that made up Voldemort passed right through Harry, causing him to scream and collapse on the ground. Then Voldemort turned and rushed at Hermione.
"Ed·Dor!"
Hermione hit Voldemort a third time. The stacked three instances of "+75% damage to undead" caused Voldemort actual harm. Add to that the cumulative "25% chance to make monsters flee," and Voldemort finally gave up all hesitation—he just wanted to run.
Facing Voldemort isn't something anyone can handle easily, not without Harry's kind of protagonist luck. Hermione collapsed against the wall, drained.
Regulus Black stepped out from a corner. He had been ready to act the moment Voldemort rushed at Hermione, but she hadn't disappointed him. Her third hit forced Voldemort to retreat.
"Zero, take care of Hermione."
Regulus summoned "Zero" from the Room of Requirement. Zero cradled the collapsed Hermione in his arms.
Without Quirrell to maintain it, the wall of fire was easily dispelled by Regulus Black. Carrying Zero, he entered the room.
There lay an unconscious Harry Potter, a trembling Professor Quirrell, and beside them—the Sorcerer's Stone and the Mirror of Erised.
"Looks like a perfect ending, wouldn't you say, Professor Quirrell?"
Regulus Black retrieved the Sorcerer's Stone, then placed the Mirror of Erised into his system space, all while looking at the shaking Quirrell.
"It's you... Regulus. I didn't think you'd be the last one to show up."
Quirrell collapsed on the ground, completely at ease for the first time in ages. Ever since Voldemort had possessed him, he had been on edge. Now, at last, it was over.
"Show me your arm."
Regulus Black looked down at Quirrell, wand pointed at him, issuing the command.
Though Quirrell knew exactly what he meant, he casually rolled up both sleeves.
Nothing to see—no fancy skull tattoo, not even an ugly one.
"Good." Regulus Black put his wand away. "You must've had a rough time. Ever thought about what comes next?"
"Someone like me probably isn't suited to continue being a professor at the school."
Quirrell replied indifferently. He knew well that someone who had once been possessed by Voldemort, no matter how they explained it, would always be viewed with suspicion—perhaps even worse than being a Death Eater.
"If you've got nowhere to go, I can offer you a job."
Regulus had already thought it through. His business empire was expanding, and managing everything alone was no longer feasible. For the rise of the Black family, gathering every bit of strength would be essential.
"Do you know? I used to be the professor of Muggle Studies. If the wizarding world no longer has a place for me, I can still go to the Muggle world. It's full of things completely different from the wizarding world—very fascinating."
Quirrell wasn't worried at all about being rejected by the wizarding world. If he couldn't make it there, he could just make a living in the Muggle world! In this regard, he was much more open-minded than the future werewolf professor, Remus Lupin, and would certainly fare much better than him.
In fact, true aristocratic wizard families—unless they were stuck in old traditions and resistant to change—tended to maintain an outward appearance of antiquity while secretly embracing new things and acting opportunistically.
Quirrell wasn't exactly an opportunist, but his experience teaching Muggle Studies gave him a deeper understanding of Muggle society.
Could something as simple as finding a job really stump a wizard like Quirrell?
"I'm aware of your situation. And it's exactly because you were once a professor of Muggle Studies that I believe this job will suit you perfectly," Regulus Black said with confidence, as though the job had always been meant for Quirrell.
Hearing that, Quirrell became intrigued.
"If it's really as you say, Regulus, then please—give me the details."
Quirrell finally sat up, no longer lazily lying on the ground.
"We can discuss it in detail in your office. You don't mind if we bring Harry to the infirmary first, do you?"
Regulus Black pointed at Harry Potter lying on the floor, then led the way with his iron golem, [Zero].
Quirrell picked up Harry and followed behind. Thus, the adventure surrounding the Philosopher's Stone came to an end, and the scene was cleaned up thoroughly.
Hermione had been sent to the Room of Requirement to rest, following Regulus Black's orders to [Zero].
Regulus and Quirrell brought Harry to the infirmary and then headed to Quirrell's office.
"Madam Pomfrey, I'll leave Harry Potter in your care."
"What sort of injury has this child suffered?"
Madam Pomfrey ran a diagnostic spell on Harry, but found no external wounds or internal damage, prompting her question.
"I suspect it's a soul injury, or perhaps a loss of life force."
Regulus Black explained. After Voldemort was forced out of Quirrell's body, he took some of Quirrell's life force with him. But in an attempt to seize more, he had rushed through Harry's body. It was hard to say how much life force he might have drained from Harry in the process.
"I understand."
Madam Pomfrey retrieved a potion from the medicine cabinet, pried open Harry's mouth, and used a tube-like device to administer it directly.
Regulus Black and Quirrell exchanged a glance. Madam Pomfrey's methods were still as rough and efficient as ever. That's why students healed quickly in the infirmary—and got hurt again just as quickly. But really, what could be more painful than being force-fed potions in the infirmary?
Looking back, who hadn't been in the infirmary before? Recalling those times was enough to make anyone shudder.
"What are you two still standing there for? Go on, shoo!"
As soon as Madam Pomfrey looked up and saw them still there, she immediately began ushering them out. Besides patients, only she was allowed there. The infirmary was her sacred domain—no outsiders allowed.
The two returned to Quirrell's office. While writing a letter to be sent to Dumbledore by owl, they also began discussing the matter of Quirrell's new job.
"Since you said the job involves the Muggle world, I'll need my salary to always be above the UK average. Working hours must not exceed eight per day, I want two days off every week, provided lunch at work, transportation allowance, one annual company trip with me only covering 30% of the cost, and—oh yes!—you must provide full social insurance and housing fund."
Regulus Black watched as Quirrell rattled off demands non-stop. These were standard expectations in the Muggle world—any job seeker would ask for them, though each person might have different specifics.
"All of that? None of it's included! You only get dividends. So you'd better work your hardest for me!"
