Chapter 43 - What comes next

The Vice President, a stern-eyed man named Robert Hale, leaned forward with his fingers interlocked. His voice, deep and unwavering, cut through the murmuring.

"You said you wanted to discuss the future of counter-bio warfare. You've proven your worth with the Raccoon City Incident. Speak freely. What else are we up against?"

Jasen didn't hesitate. "Have you ever heard of the legends of Sparda… and Dracula?"

That brought the room to a stillness.

Jessica Monroe, the Vice President's chief assistant sharply dressed in a tailored blue suit with golden hair and clear, sea-gray eyes—tilted her head, the curiosity clear on her face. "Sparda… You mean the demon knight? A myth. Though we've heard stories of a cult in Europe who deified him."

Jasen smirked, folding his arms. "He was real. A demon who betrayed his own kind to protect humanity. His bloodline still walks this Earth."

General Strickland frowned. "You're telling us demons exist now?"

"Demons. Vampires. Super-soldiers. It's all real. You've seen what Umbrella created with man-made viruses. Imagine what someone with Sparda's blood could become in the wrong hands."

Jessica narrowed her eyes, intrigued. "You said his bloodline still exists?"

Jasen nodded. "His sons—Dante and Vergil. Dante works under the name Tony Redgrave. He was the one who saved dozens during the Raccoon City alongside me and Jill Valentine."

Gasps echoed from a few officers in the room.

Jasen continued. "But Vergil… he's dangerous. If you want to avoid something worse than what Umbrella did, we need to track him down before he reawakens something he can't control."

The Vice President exchanged a quick glance with Jessica, then looked back to Jasen. "And the other… Dracula?"

Jasen's tone dropped. "Dracula was as real as Sparda more real infact. A dark force that's risen again and again. But every time he does, a bloodline stands against him—The Belmonts. They're vampire slayers with a legacy older than any of us."

Jessica leaned in. "We've seen isolated reports from the Vatican and MI6… whispers about demonic cults in Eastern Europe, and an agent working under a shadow organization.

In Japan as well multiple records of appearance a girl appeared decades apart from Europe, Vietnam, Japan. A girl with a katana appearing and leaving a path of blood in her wake."

My brows lifted. "Is her name Saya?"

Jessica froze, her lips parting slightly. "How do you know that?"

I paused, trying not to reveal too much. "I've… been preparing for this. There's more going on in this world than even I could imagine. Saya is one of the few people capable of fighting vampires alone. If she's active, we need her on our side."

The room broke into murmurs again.

Jasen raised a hand. "That's just the beginning. In Europe, there are rumors of ancient clans—Umbran Witches and Lumen Sages. Each holding power that dwarfs anything Umbrella ever developed through magic."

The Vice President, remarkably composed, steepled his fingers. "Do you have names? Proof?"

"Not yet. But I can find them. And when I do, I need the full force of this new anti-B.O.W. task force, and US government probably all NATO itself behind me."

Jessica's voice was quiet, but resolute. "You believe a new war is coming."

Jasen looked her in the eye. "No. I believe it's already begun. Raccoon City wasn't the beginning. Consider It the warning shot."

General Strickland finally spoke again, gruff and skeptical. "You're asking us to greenlight a global shadow war based on ancient legends and unverified supernatural threats."

Jasen turned to him. "I'm not asking for permission. I'm telling you to prepare. Raccoon City was man-made. But what's coming next? That's beyond your labs and satellites."

The Vice President nodded slowly. "Then here's what we'll do. We'll continue the formation of the Anti-B.O.W. division. You'll report directly to this task force—privately. We'll begin tracking the names you've given. Quietly. And as for Dante…"

"I'll handle him," Jasen said with a small grin. "He's on our side. Just needs a reason to stay interested."

Jessica reached into a folder and passed Jasen a thin red file. "You'll want to start here. Reports from Romania. MI6 tracked a family rumored to be part of the Belmont line. Two of them vanished six months ago."

Jasen took the file and tucked it under his arm. "I'll find them."

As he turned to leave, the Vice President called out, "What do we call this… global threat?"

Jasen paused at the door. "Call it whatever you want. But remember this—Umbrella was just the start. The true darkness is waking up."

Jessica watched him go, lips pursed in a line of thought.
