When the missionary heard that John was seemingly siding with the spider-bodied girl, his expression darkened instantly. He glared coldly and barked:
"That spider-bodied abomination has slaughtered the villagers of this town—her sins are unforgivable! How can you stand with her and bring disaster upon this land?"
John didn't so much as blink. He responded with a voice devoid of emotion:
"And who, exactly, brought disaster to this land first? A group of so-called 'humans' inflicted unspeakable harm upon an innocent girl. That girl, in turn, became a monster and returned to take vengeance on her tormentors. Now the monsters, facing one more powerful than themselves, suddenly want pity. Am I supposed to save them?"
He laughed coldly.
