Chapter 27 - Am I amazing

Charlotte quickly grabbed her Red Iron Sword and stabbed the other head of the two-headed Snake without hesitation.

Despite the Snake's impressive attributes, it was no match for them.

With the power of the Red Iron enhancing their attacks, Calvin and Charlotte were overwhelmingly strong.

Especially Calvin, his base attack power was 30, and with an additional 25 from the Red Iron, he could easily slay the two-headed serpent in just a few strikes.

Moreover, the Snake's weak defense and the earlier critical hit only sealed its fate.

Thanks to their seamless cooperation, the two-headed Snake let out a final shudder and collapsed dead on the ground.

[Obtained: Two-Headed Snake Gall ×5 (Consuming increases HP by 1 each)]

[Obtained: Snake Eyes ×4]

[Obtained: Two-Headed Snake Meat (Consuming all increases HP by 2)]

[Obtained: Two-Headed Snake Leather Armor ×1 (Wearing increases HP by 10 and Defense by 2)]

"Wow, all the drops are great stuff!" Charlotte exclaimed excitedly.

She put her hands on her hips proudly and looked at Calvin.

"Calvin, if it weren't for me sensing the danger, you'd already be dead!" she said smugly.

Calvin shook his head.

"This serpent's attributes weren't that big of a deal. Otherwise, why do you think I was joking around with you?"

Charlotte scratched her head.

Maybe he had a point...

"Anyway, let's collect the loot first," she said.

She bent down and picked everything up.

"Here, you should eat these galls," Calvin suggested after a moment of thought.

Five extra HP was nothing to scoff at.

"Aren't you going to eat any?" Charlotte asked curiously, a bit surprised at his generosity.

"I'll pass. Right now, your biggest weakness is your low HP," Calvin replied seriously.

Indeed, although Charlotte had good talent, her health was a critical vulnerability.

Charlotte nodded.

She didn't argue. She figured she'd get strong enough to protect Calvin one day.

With that thought, she fought down her disgust and shoved the five bloody galls into her mouth, swallowing them with a series of gulps despite the urge to vomit.

Calvin was stunned.

No wonder she was the champion who once devoured eighty chicken nuggets and twenty egg tarts on Crazy Thursday.

She was insanely tough!

As the vitality from the galls surged through her, Charlotte's HP rose to 75.

Her passive Speed attribute also increased from 75 to 80.

"Burp," she let out a loud belch, then proudly ran in circles around Calvin, creating a fragrant breeze around him.

"What the heck are you doing?" Calvin asked speechlessly.

"Look, Calvin! Aren't I super fast?" Charlotte chirped, twirling around like an overexcited sprite.

"Stop, stop! Quit messing around! Don't forget why we came to the island!" Calvin shouted, grabbing her.

"Huh? Wasn't it to gather resources?" Charlotte asked innocently.

Calvin collected the serpent meat and draped the leather armor over her shoulders.

"We've got about seven or eight hours left. It's time to mine or chop wood for cubes.

Don't forget, we got stone pickaxes from Bonny and Barry."

He waved the pickaxe in his hand.

"Ohhh, so you'll mine, and I'll chop wood?" Charlotte asked.

She had almost forgotten that gathering cube resources was just as important as food.

Only by expanding their platform could they survive better.

Charlotte hesitated for a moment.

She didn't really want to split up from Calvin, but they only had a stone pickaxe, a wooden axe, and a hoe.

"Forget it, just come mining with me," Calvin decided.

He wasn't about to leave her alone somewhere dangerous.

"Yay!" Charlotte beamed happily.

She loved sticking close to Calvin, even if they argued all the time.

Soon, they found a large exposed boulder.

Calvin checked the trading market for more pickaxes but was disappointed.

The prices were outrageous.

Even a basic wooden pickaxe cost more than 15 cubes.

The reason was simple.

Pickaxes allowed players to gather stone, and stones could be synthesized into blocks.

Since landing on floating islands was time-limited, players rarely sold tools unless they desperately needed resources.

With a heavy sigh, Calvin cursed the greedy sellers.

Still, it was understandable.

Players lucky enough to land quickly had an advantage and wouldn't easily part with precious tools.

"Calvin, why don't you just duplicate a pickaxe tomorrow?" Charlotte suggested, idling nearby.

Calvin shot her a look.

"You think it's that easy? Duplication only works once a day!

We have way more important things to duplicate like the Red Iron equipment, the Driving Cube, and the Water Condenser."

Not to mention duplicating Charlotte's newfound talent someday...

Calvin didn't finish his sentence.

Instead, he traded a ton of water, food, and cubes to barely scrape together a wooden pickaxe.

The two of them got to work mining.

Over six hours passed, and the sky grew dark.

After collecting about 120 stones, they decided to head back.

"Charlotte, you're super fast now. How about carrying me back to save time?" Calvin teased, eyeing her curvy figure.

He half-expected her to spit in disgust, but to his surprise, she proudly agreed,

"Of course! My speed is invincible now!"

She stuck out her hip suggestively for Calvin to climb on.

Calvin was speechless but couldn't deny her speed was amazing.

At her current rate, he wouldn't even be able to touch her in a fight.

She could easily dodge and strike him with the Red Iron Sword, which he had duplicated for her.

Interestingly, even with the heavy leather armor, her Speed had increased thanks to her insane 1:1 HP-to-Speed passive ability.

Now her Speed was over 80, an absurd stat.

"Come on, little man!" Charlotte teased, beckoning him.

Calvin hopped on, and Charlotte lifted him with ease.

The two stacked together awkwardly.

"Run!"

Charlotte's bare feet spun like wheels as she blasted forward, reaching speeds over 70 yards per second.

If she weren't carrying Calvin, she could easily hit 80.

Laughing wildly, Charlotte carried him all the way back to the beach in no time.

Calvin was awestruck by her speed.

He glanced down at her chest, realizing the obvious obstacles jiggling with each step.

"Charlotte! Don't you think those two are getting in your way?!" Calvin shouted over the roaring wind.

"Shut up!" Charlotte snapped back, lowering her head in frustration.

He wasn't wrong, her voluptuous figure was definitely slowing her down.

Maybe she should... cut them off someday?

Nah, it would probably hurt too much.

With wild thoughts swirling in her head, Charlotte finally carried Calvin back to the platform.

She dropped him off, wiped the sweat from her forehead, and planted her hands on her hips proudly.

"Well? Calvin, am I amazing or what?!" she said, grinning from ear to ear.

Charlotte was beaming with pride.

She could finally be of great help, hahaha!

Before, it was always Calvin doing all the work.

Charlotte decided that once they left the floating island, she would carry Calvin on her back everywhere they went!

"Awesome, awesome! Give me a hug!"

Calvin, looking helpless, hugged the childish Charlotte like he was indulging a child.

Charlotte's cheeks flushed slightly.

Hey, hey, hey,

Are we really that close?

She had originally intended to say that to Calvin,

but in the end, she didn't.

"Anyway, you can't call me a useless burden anymore. I-I'll be able to help you a lot from now on…"

Charlotte said seriously, her eyes full of determination.

"Got it, Charty"

Calvin tapped her forehead.

Hearing "Charty" almost made her head steam with embarrassment.

Wasn't this way too doting?!

Her slightly flushed cheeks instantly turned crimson, and she fell silent.

"Disgusting…"

"If you don't want me to call you a burden, then I'll call you Charty. You're still not happy with that? Fine, I'll call you Big Charlotte instead, since you're so big."

Calvin spoke without thinking,

leaving Charlotte stunned.

It took her a moment to realize. Calvin was teasing her with dirty jokes!

"Ahhh! You're dead!"

After a flurry of playful punches and clawing,

the platform finally activated…

carrying the two of them flying off in another direction.

However, at that moment,

Calvin let go of the struggling Charlotte in his arms, a look of confusion flashing across his face.

"Since the cube is now freely moving, if I use the control cube to immediately return to the floating island, can I land again and get another ten free hours to mine?"

Calvin pinched Charlotte's ear, asking curiously.

Still mid-"beating" Calvin, little Charlotte scratched her head and thought about it,

"It does seem to make sense…"

Without hesitation, Calvin sat down at the cube's control seat and piloted it back to the floating island.

But the next moment,

Calvin stood there, speechless and dumbfounded.
