Silas's expression darkened, his fingers tapping silently on the table in thought.
"And these zombie snakes… You said they're not found near the suburbs. So why would one be there now?"
Ivy shook her head, frustration flickering in her eyes.
"That's what doesn't make sense. They shouldn't be there. And if one did appear, Stephen wouldn't go down without a fight. He wouldn't."
Her last two sentences were no more than a whisper, and Silas couldn't hear them.
Just then, Silas's phone rang. Only when Ivy nodded did Silas take the call.
"Hello? Yes, uncle.... she is saying that we might encounter a zombie snake. Hm... I am coming."
With that, he stood up and hung up the call. Seeing him leaving, Ivy stood up too.
"I will go with you."
The words of rejection were at the tip of Silas's tongue when Ivy stared at him with a stern expression, and he swallowed them back.
"Alright."
