Chapter 11 - Gorrak And Solen!

Orion puked on the alley's wall.

"Oh, please, hatchling!" Electra groaned. "It's not that deep!" She crossed her arms, shaking her head in disapproval.

"Y-You just killed three people!" He puked again, holding his stomach. "It's not... It's not fucking normal!" He screamed.

She leaned in closer, looking up at him with a mischievous grin on her face. "Hatchling, hatchling~," she giggled. "You cannot be so sensitive when you're an adventurer! That's just not how it works!"

"I would understand if it were mindless monsters! But not intelligent people!" He grabbed her shoulders. "Don't you have any empathy in you?!"

Electra frowned, slapping his hands off her shoulders. "You do realize that some monsters are intelligent?" She grabbed his chin, pulling his face closer. "What would you do? For example, if you met a vampire or a demon? Everyone knows that vampires and demons are intelligent!"

He looked away. "I..."

She pulled his face even closer. "Look into my eyes and answer my question!"

After a moment of silence, he looked into her eyes with determination. "If someone can think and process information... It's not... It's not okay, even if it's a monster! Everyone deserves a second chance!" He grabbed her wrist and pinned it to the wall. "That's why you won't kill anyone else! At least not around us! Especially not around Layla! Understood?!" He asked firmly.

Electra was stunned for a moment, but it didn't take long for her to smirk again, even wider than before. "Awwh~! Showing your colors, aren't you? And in the end, it seems that you actually have some fight in you! That's cute!" Her voice turned cold. "But I'm not listening to weaklings, hatchling. If you want to give me orders, then grow up and grow stronger."

She grabbed his neck. "But for now. I'm the one in charge."

Somewhere deep in the great Fitonwich forest, Gorrak was surrounded by a pack of Kobolds. He was slightly taller than before, a spear was strapped to his back.

"It's not a good idea, guys!" Gorrak waved his hands in front of them to prevent them from coming closer.

The Kobolds all growled, pointing their weapons at him, salivating like crazy, murderous intent in their eyes.

"I guess they're not sentient... too bad." He smirked, grabbing his spear. "Too bad for them because they'll end up above the fire!"

The Kobolds charged at him, roaring. Gorrak shook his head, and he sliced their heads off with a simple swing of the spear.

The Kobolds all fell, their blood soaking into the ground.

Gorrak crouched down before the bodies, rolling them onto their backs. "Is it really that hard to be smart?" He slowly started cutting their chests. "Like, I am smart, so why can't you be?"

He reached his hand into the chest, pulling its heart out. "I just want to find someone to spend time with! To talk! I can't talk to my master because he is unavailable! That's so frustrating!" He put the heart in his mouth, chewing on it as if it were beef.

He pulled out another heart. "I barely managed to escape that goddamn cave without being captured by those adventurers! Especially the one called 'Tempest'... she seemed strong... too damn strong!"

He then lay down on his back, reaching his hand out in the air as it changed its shape into a Kobold's arm. "Never thought I'd be able to do something like that... and that a small cockroach would save my life!" He started laughing. "I am really, really the best monster to ever live hahahaha!"

As soon as he heard something shifting in a bush, he grabbed his spear and stood up, pointing it at it in alert.

"Who's there?!" He yelled.

And then... nothing happened. The bush remained still, no sound, no movement, nothing, as if it were just Gorrak's mind messing with him.

He cupped his face with his hand. "Or maybe I'm just hearing things?" He wondered.

Using the moment of Gorrak's confusion, a violet smile launched itself from out of the bush, landing on his face.

"Huh?!" Before he could do anything, the slime had already started to burn his skin.

"Ouch! Ouch! It hurts! A little, but still hurts!" He grabbed the smile and threw it to the ground, stomping it a couple of times.

"DIE! Die, you little slime! Attacking when someone is off-guard is straight up unfair!" He said with frustration as he stepped on the slime.

And then, from out of nowhere, the slime started to squeak.

Gorrak's eyes widened, and he stopped stomping on the slime. "Huh? Did the slime just... make a noise?"

The slime squeaked again, even louder than the last time. It was shifting constantly, going up and down.

Gorrak stuck his spear into the ground, sitting down in front of the slime. "Don't tell me that you're ashamed, little slime?" He smirked, poking it a couple of times.

"I wonder how you taste..." He rubbed his stomach.

The slime started to shift even quicker, it was afraid for its life but at the same time didn't want to run because it knew its futile.

Gorrak raised a brow. "Wait a second... Do you understand me? You understand what I'm saying?" He asked in disbelief.

The slime shifted again.

He scratched his chin. "Well, it might just be shifting and twitching just because of a pure coincidence..." He poked it again. "Jump three times if you understand me, little slime."

The slime shifted and jumped three times, landing on Gorrak's lap.

Gorrak smiled widely, petting the slime. "Oh, you do understand! That's great! I'm taking you with me!" He said with a lot of enthusiasm.

The slime nuzzled into his chest, squeaking louder.

Gorrak poked the slime a couple of times, an excited look on his face. "Let's give you a name! I mean, I can't just call you 'slime' the whole time, right?"

The slime jumped into the air, landing on the top of Gorrak's head, making him fall on his back.

He was instantly blinded by the sun, covering his eyes with his hand. "I got it! From now on, you are not a slime, but Solen!"

Gorrak then stood up, grabbed Solen, and jumped into the bush.

Solen squeaked in confusion, wondering why Gorrak did that.

"Shh... They're here... humans..." He whispered.

"Why's it always us getting the worst orders?!" A female adventurer groaned and kicked a tree in frustration.

"Orders are orders, honey. We can't complain, especially when it's the Tempest herself who gave them to us." The male adventurer smiled, brushing a strand of her hair behind her ear. "At least we are together, no?"

She smiled softly, wrapping her arms around his neck passionately. "Mhm," She nodded, leaning in for a soft kiss. "We could do a looooot of things right now, don't ya think, hubby~?"

He wrapped his arms around her waist, kissing her deeply.

Gorrak watched everything in excitement from the bush. "Woah... this is the human affection... You know, Solen..." He looked at the slime. "I've already seen something like this before. It was between my master and a female... It's amazing, isn't it?" He said, his voice low.

The slime squeaked quietly in approval.

Gorrak clenched his fists. "I wish... I wish I could experience it one day... the thing humans call love..."

Solen jumped on top of his head, melting into a shape that resembled a helmet.

The female adventurer broke the kiss, frowning and plugging her nose. "Hey, do you feel that horrible stench?" She asked with disgust.

The man looked around in confusion, his eyes widening as soon as he spotted the dead Kobolds. "Their chests are open, just like in the cave... the culprit might be lurking somewhere around... waiting for the next victim." He grabbed her shoulders softly. "Honey, run for the examination team. FAST!"

Without any hesitation, the woman nodded and ran off.

"Oh crap... we need to go, Solen..." Gorrak whispered.

The man started looking around, searching the bushes, looking at the trees. He walked up to the Kobolds and touched them. "That's weird... judging by the warmth of their corpses... they weren't killed a long time ago... in fact, it seems that they're fresh... If that was a monster, then it would already attack us... so why is no one here?"

Gorrak leaned closer to Solen. "Listen here..." He pointed at a waterfall nearby. "I'm gonna turn into a cockroach and go there... and you... try to go there as quietly as you can, okay?" He said softly.

Solen squeaked calmly.

He then turned into a cockroach and started to go towards the waterfall as fast as he could, but then he stopped.

"Gotcha, little monster!" The adventurer yelled, catching Solen in a huge metal jar. He poked the jar a couple of times. "What's a slime doing here? And why is it violet?"

After a moment of hesitation, Gorrak shifted back into his goblin form, surprising the adventurer.

"A goblin? Where the hell did it come from?" He asked, laughing with pity.

"Put the slime down," Gorrak said firmly, not taking no as an answer. "Put my companion down!" He screamed in anger that time.

The adventurer immediately pulled his sword out of its sheath, pointing the tip at Gorrak. "W-What the hell?! You can speak?! Since when can goblins speak..." His eyes went wide in fear. "Don't tell me that you are a vampire or a demon under disguise!" He took a step back.

The two started to walk in a circle until Gorrak ended up next to the Kobolds, picking up his spear and pointing it at the adventurer. "Human, I don't want to hurt you, but you leave me no chance!"

"Holy shit! Don't tell me that you're the culprit, you fucking goblin!" He gripped his sword even more tightly. "As an adventurer of the guild, I will behead you in the name of my superiors!" He screamed and charged at the goblin, swinging his sword precisely while holding the jar in his other hand.

Gorrak dodged each blow, barely, but he did. A surprised look appeared on his face. "How am I so fast? I could barely keep up with another goblin the last time..." He looked down at his hands. "Am I getting stronger?"

The spear clashed against the sword like there was no tomorrow. The impact of each clash sent them both back, the weapons were on the verge of falling apart.

"You sure are the culprit, monster! No goblin, duh, even the goblin champion would have trouble with a Tier 2 adventurer like me!" The adventurer yelled, finally finding an opportunity and slicing at his knee.

"Ugh!" Gorrak stumbled back. "I can't fight a human this strong yet... but I have alreadywon..." He smirked, looking at the small hole in the jar. "Solen! Now! Burn that stupid human!" He screamed.

Before the adventurer could even realize what Gorrak was talking about, Solen had already escaped the jar through the small hole, wrapping itself around the adventurer's face.

"Damn it!" The adventurer dropped the jar, trying to get Solen off his face. "Get off me! It itches, you little cunt!"

Using the perfect moment, Gorakk thrust the spear right into the adventurer's heart.

The adventurer looked at him for the last time and then fell lifelessly to the ground.

Solen jumped onto Gorrak's knee, healing it.

"Let's go, Solen," Gorrak said, smiling softly. "Before they'll come here and finish us off."
