Inside the Conference Room

12:18 PM

"Prepare yourselves... It's coming. The Chaos Beast Boss is about to emerge!" Luna warned, her voice trembling. She looked helpless—powerless to stop what was coming.

"The Chaos Beast Boss? The biggest one inside the Rift—the one that devoured Sergeant Makoto at the end of the expedition video?!" Colonel Hayato asked sharply.

"Yes." Luna replied, her voice tight with tension.

Then she turned back to the screen from drone feed camera showing the towering Void Gate in the middle of parking lot, her tone rising in panic.

"IT'S COMING OUT!"

**

Main Parking Lot

A massive silhouette began to take shape inside the swirling Rift. The Crimson Void Gate pulsed violently, the air trembling as something colossal began to push through.

And then—it appeared.

From the depths of the gate, the unholy creature emerged, displacing the very air around it. Its grotesque, monstrous body slithered forward, fifteen meters long and four meters wide, crawling into the world like a nightmarish god from beyond.

The Boss Monster of the worm-like Chaos Beasts.

Its head came first—a true embodiment of terror.

A gaping maw filled with serrated, uneven fangs, each as long as a human forearm, designed to rip, tear, and consume. It could swallow three adults whole in a single, monstrous bite. Inside the throat, twitching fleshy tendrils writhed, as if sensing prey.

The rest of its segmented body followed, covered in jagged obsidian-black scales that formed a hardened, grotesque exoskeleton. Crimson veins pulsed beneath its armor, glowing faintly with every breath, as if something unholy writhed beneath the surface.

But the horror didn't end there.

Two thick, armored tentacles extended from the sides of its head, ending in deadly spear-like tips that shimmered in the light. Beneath those, two more tentacles extended from its lower jaw, dripping with acidic slime. These ones ended in smaller, fang-lined maws that opened and closed, twitching hungrily.

Each droplet of acid hissed as it struck the ground, sending up faint trails of smoke as the rock dissolved.

And its eyes—

Deep, glowing crimson. Eyes that radiated intelligence and malevolence. Even through screens, people felt pierced by its stare.

Then, as if to declare its presence, it reared up, lifting its massive upper body to stand six meters tall, towering like a demonic overlord.

This was no ordinary Chaos Beast.

It was something that should not exist.

Lobby and Hallways

Everyone watching from the lobby, hallways, staircases, and windows froze in place. Some stumbled back. Others collapsed, overwhelmed by sheer terror.

Then, someone screamed.

"W-WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!"

A student gripped the railing so tightly his knuckles turned white, his voice barely above a whisper, "…T-That's not real…"

A security officer took a step back, his breathing ragged, "No. No, no, no, no..!"

A young man took one shaky step back and whispered to his friend, "Look at that acid... it's burning right through the rock…"

A military soldier, still in shock, his hand trembling, "…We don't stand a chance. How can we survive against that demonic thing?!"

A young woman, gripping her phone with shaking hands, tried to livestream, but her fingers were so unsteady that his camera blurred. " A-a-are you s-seeing this? I can't… I can't… "

Across Japan — Nation in Panic

People around the country stared at their screens, aghast.

They had no words for this abomination creature.

"Dear Lord..." muttered a man in a crowded Shinjuku mall, his bag falling from his limp hand. "That mouth... it could devour a whole squad in one go."

"Are you guys seeing this?!" shouted a teenage boy at an Akihabara manga store, phone clutched tightly in hand as a livestream crackled. "It's… it's not even real, right? It can't be real!"

In Shibuya Crossing, thousands of people were glued to the massive outdoor screens, watching the live broadcast. When the Boss Monster emerged, the entire crowd erupted into screams. People tried to run, as if the thing could somehow reach them through the screen.

A man in his forties, fell to his knees, his face pale, "…It.. It's a demon."

Inside a high school cafeteria where many students had gathered for lunch, they were watching the live news broadcast on a large screen.

"IYAAAAHHH..!!"

When the massive creature appeared, many of the female students screamed in terror, covering their mouths as tears streamed down their faces. The male students also stared at the creature in horror and deep anxiety. Cold sweat ran down the backs of their necks.

A teenage boy, staring up in disbelief, began laughing hysterically, shaking his head, "This isn't real. IT'S NOT REAL."

In a packed bullet train heading toward Osaka, passengers watching on their phones suddenly stood up in shock, the entire train car filled with panicked voices.

A businessman, his tie loosened, clutched his briefcase to his chest, whispering, "…Japan is finished."

In an office breakroom, a group of workers in a breakroom, watching from a large screen, were speechless. They forgot their lunch entirely. Chopsticks and spoons slipped from their hands.

A man in his thirties stared at the screen, pale. "H-H-How do we fight that? That's not something we can win against…"

One of them, a young woman in her twenties, suddenly screamed. Dropped her coffee, her voice cracking in panic, "…We're going to die. Say what you need to say to your loved ones—before it's too late."

And then…

A horrifying, wet, organic sound echoed through the battlefield as the Boss Monster's ribcage suddenly expanded outward, splitting open like a grotesque cocoon. From within it, pulsating, slick, bluish eggs began to emerge, scatteredly-throwed onto the hardened battlefield.

It was birthing something.

The pulsating eggs shifting as if something inside was desperately trying to break free.

And then, with a sickening CRACK, the first egg cracked open. The newborn Chaos Beast, already three meters in size, screeched as it tore its way into existence.

A second egg hatched.

A third.

A fourth.

Until a dozen of giant blue eggs broken. The newly spawned creatures quickly orienting themselves toward the barrier and the building. Their screeches were high-pitched and shrill, though utterly dwarfed by the presence of their colossal parent.

**

Inside The Conference Room

A policewoman in the conference room clamped her hands over her ears. "No... no more worms... please, no more of them…!" Her voice trembled with the edge of hysteria.

Vice Marshal Shoji Arakawa was shocked to see the boss monster laying eggs that would soon hatch, "They're... they're breeding? On-site? Seriously?!"

"That Boss Monster looks different from the one in the video, doesn't it? This one is bigger, and it doesn't have those same tentacles on its head. And in the footage from inside the Dimension Rift, its armored scales were metallic white. But now… they're covered in thick, black scales. Is this even the same creature?" Vice Admiral Yui Okada questioned, confused by the creature's altered appearance.

"It has evolved!" Luna replied, her voice strained but certain. "When it didn't have enough Chaos energy, it couldn't exit into the human world, even with the Void Gate open. This is the same Chaos entity—but now it has evolved. It's bigger, stronger, more terrifying, and far harder to deal with. The tentacles on its head are proof."

"Hhhaah..!"

"… Stronger than the one Sergeant Makoto's squad faced?!"

A scientist in a lab coat stepped back in shock.

He remembered how Sergeant Makoto and the remaining four elite soldiers couldn't even escape the weaker version—almost all of them were slaughtered.

Only one survived with gravely, critical injuries.

"Then… all the Chaos Beasts that came out of the Void Gate—they're also stronger than before?" Miyuki Saegusa, head of the secret organization The Mirage, asked for confirmation.

"Yes. That's right. Everything that crosses over from the Rift is more powerful than when it was inside. They become exponentially more dangerous once they manifest in our world." Luna answered.

"Operator, status scan inside the barrier. Report." Colonel Hayato ordered, voice tense.

Operator Ishikawa responded promptly, "Colonel, within the barrier, there are currently forty giant worm-like monsters that have emerged from the Void Gate. In addition, twelve more have hatched from the blue eggs. That makes fifty-two Chaos Beasts—excluding the Boss Monster."

Operator Takanashi followed up with a report of his own.

"Colonel, the Boss Monster's body is covered in thick black scales, likely as hard as steel. While our previous heavy weapons were effective against the regular beasts, they may not be enough to penetrate this one's armor. It has two upper tentacles on either side of its head—both ending in large, massive spearhead, likely composed of reinforced metal—possibly steel. There are also two lower tentacles, shaped like serrated jaws, dripping with corrosive acid. These jaw-tentacles appear capable of launching acid at targets. When it raises its upper body like a cobra, its height reaches approximately six meters. Its width is four meters, and its full body length measures about fifteen meters."

"FIFTEEN METERS?!" Almost everyone in the room gasped in shock.

"And there are 52 others. We nearly exhausted all our resources just fighting 14 of them." muttered Akira Oda, the Chief of Japanese National Police.

"We've used all our heavy weapons and ammunition… Are we just supposed to sit here and wait for the end?"

Before anyone could answer Akira's question…

The Boss Monster lifted its colossal head and opened its gargantuan jaws. It inhaled once—its chest expanding with terrifying force—

SSHHRRIIIEEEEEAAAAKKK...!!!

A long, piercing shriek tore through the battlefield, warping the very air around it. The sound was like metal scraping against bone, laced with a subsonic resonance that shook windows and threatened to rip apart the souls of anyone who heard it.

It was a piercing, mind-shattering, nightmarish wail—a sound that carried pure malice.

The sound of absolute despair.

Lobby and Hallways

A wave of sheer mental pressure swept through the crowd. Dozens of people clutched their heads, collapsing to their knees. Some screamed, others wept. One woman scrambled behind a pillar, hands pressed so tightly over her ears that blood began to seep from where she'd scratched her skin.

Some vomited from sheer shock. Others screamed in horror, curling into fetal positions. Lights flickered in the corridor, as if the monstrous scream itself caused power surges.

"KYAAAAHHH..!!" Several women screamed in fear.

"It's in my head!" a young woman shrieked, eyes wild with terror.

"Make it stop! MAKE IT STOP!" cried another voice, breaking down into sobs.

Police officers near the main lobby entrance dropped to their kness, staggering as if struck by physical blows. One of them let out a choked yell and squeezed his eyes shut, sweat streaming down his face, "What… is this sound…? I can't… I can't take it…!"

On the second-floor corridor, an influencer live-streaming the event wavered on his feet, phone clattering to the floor with a loud thud. The camera continued broadcasting, capturing his pale, contorted face as he choked out words to his viewers.

"Guys… hngh… I-I'm sorry, I—can't—my head… Aaargghh..!"

Across Tokyo & Surrounding,

The sound came through TV speakers, phone screens, and public broadcasts. Though somewhat muted by transmission, it still induced a crushing sense of dread in those who heard it.

In a Shibuya crossing, crowds of onlookers spontaneously flinched, some crying out in panic as the boss monster's wail reverberated through the giant monitors overhead.

Commuters in the subway whipped their heads up from phones and newspapers, hearts pounding as they listened to newscasters falter in speech. "This new worm—I-it's much bigger than the others… it's shrieking—I can't.. stand it.."

In one corporate tower, a woman behind a reception desk dropped the phone she was holding. "That… that monster looks impossible to kill." she whispered, voice trembling. Her coworker, jaw slack, could only nod.

In a small town somewhere in the countryside, an elderly couple stared at their outdated television set in disbelief. The old man whispered to himself, "We were celebrating five minutes ago… now look. This demon… we're done for."

On social media, the commentary was instantaneous and frantic:

"WHAT IS THAT SOUND?! I FEEL LIKE I'M GOING INSANE!"

"TURN IT OFF! TURN OFF THE STREAM! IT'S MAKING ME SICK!"

"My grandma just fainted when she heard that thing screech. Someone help!!"

Inside The Conference Room

The psychological impact was just as dire.

Luna clutched her temples, beads of sweat rolling down her face, "It's… it's like it's burrowing into my brain…" she gasped.

Haruto Mori pressed a palm to the wall for support, knuckles white. "I can't… we… we have to do something…!"

Kanna Fujita's lips trembled, tears welling in her eyes as the hideous shriek seemed to stab at her mind.

Governor Saeki Kudou nearly collapsed into his chair, grip trembling on the armrest. "General… that thing's scream… it's—"

General Victor fought to keep his composure. While covering his ears he tried to keep people from getting mentally down, "Steady yourselves… we can't lose our resolve here!"

The Boss' shrieking continued, an unending crescendo of otherworldly torment that hammered at human sanity. It was as if the Boss Monster were announcing to the world that humanity was powerless against this new harbinger of chaos.

As the horrifying wail finally began to subside, a sickening echo lingered in the air, rattling the windows and leaving half of Sakamiya University's onlookers frozen in shock—some trembling, others on the verge of catatonia.

In response, the worm-like beasts shrieked back, one after another, their cries overlapping in a chorus of dread. The sound was unbearable, an orchestra of despair that threatened to unravel the minds of everyone who heard it.

Unlike before, the monsters of this second wave weren't acting aimlessly. They had a leader—and none of them made any move to attack or strike the barrier. They were waiting.

Amidst the chaos, the boss monster's blazing red eyes suddenly snapped toward the second floor—directly at the large window of the conference room. Inside were the VIPs, the military officials, the government representatives, Haruto and Kanna… and standing near them, Luna and Miyuki Saegusa, the head of The Mirage.

Its gaze locked onto the room, unblinking. And all the other Chaos Beasts—over fifty of them—followed suit. Dozens of glowing red eyes fixed on the same window, staring in unison.

"They… they're all looking at us… Why?" a university dean muttered in disbelief. "Why are they staring at this room?"

The threat was no longer theoretical. The second wave wasn't just coming—it was already here, and the nightmare had a face. The sense of dread was suffocating. Some military officials immediately scrambled to contact headquarters again, pleading for backup. Others stood frozen, their bodies trembling violently.

"We need to evacuate the civilians now—while Luna's barrier is still holding them. General Victor? Luna?" Colonel Hayato asked, turning to them for a decision.

Neither of them answered. General Victor was speechless. Luna remained still. Miyuki Saegusa, standing near them, finally responded, but her tone was filled with doubt.

"Can we even pull off a full-scale evacuation this suddenly? And… to where?"

The room fell into heavy silence. There was no contingency plan for a mass civilian evacuation, not for the entire city of Tokyo. Not for the millions who lived there—let alone the foreign tourists, the governmental centers, and the infrastructure that held it all together.

"Update from HQ—reinforcements will arrive in 55 minutes, Colonel." Operator Ishikawa reported.

"And my Absolute Holy Barrier has only 16 minutes left." Luna added grimly. "After that, we're all…"

She didn't finish her sentence. Her mind was racing, trying to think, to remember—but her memories were scattered, fragmented. As if someone had deliberately sealed them away.

"If only I hadn't lost my memories, maybe I could've done something… DAMN IT!" Luna slammed her fists against the table with a thunderous crash.

BRAAAKK..!

Rage poured out of her, frustration boiling over from her helplessness.

The impact of her fury echoed through the room. Her helplessness was infectious.

Some of the women in the room began crying, overcome by the sense of doom rapidly approaching. Others slumped into their chairs, muttering aimlessly under their breath. The rest started to panic, breathing erratically, their heads bowed as hopelessness sank in.

Even if reinforcements arrived in time, could the full strength of the Japanese military truly destroy all of them? If not… what would become of this country? Was there really nothing anyone could do?..

Where were the people Luna had mentioned—the ones who were supposed to possess the Madougu? Please, show yourselves… save us... Haruto thought desperately.

He didn't want to see the future of this nation fall into the hands of these monsters and the terrifying force behind them.

Without realizing it, tears welled in his eyes. "Kami-sama… please help us." he whispered, his voice shaking.

Dear God, after all those devastating attacks, we still have to face a second wave even worse than the first. That boss monster… it's horrifying..

If it's true there are people who possess Madougu and can fight them, please… show yourselves and save us... Kanna thought.

Tears streaming down her face. She couldn't speak—only sob silently as her body trembled.

Anyone… God, Goddess, Lord of the Heavens, Kami-sama… anyone who can help… please, save us...

Kanna silently prayed, clinging to the faintest hope that someone—anyone—might hear her.

Then, something unexpected occurred...!

As if answering both of their heartfelt prayers, the bracelets on Haruto and Kanna's wrists—those peculiar accessories they had worn for as long as they could remember—began to glow.

The light wasn't intense, but it was undeniable. A steady pulse of purple radiance emanated from Haruto's bracelet, while a warm orange hue flashed from Kanna's, glowing in quiet, resolute intervals. Several people noticed it—Luna included.

At that exact moment, Luna's gaze snapped toward their wrists. "Those bracelets…" she muttered.

In next second, she suddenly gasped..

"Hhhah..!"

The moment she saw them glowing, a jolt of recognition ran through her entire body. Buried memories—fragmented and long forgotten—rushed to the surface. Images swirled in her mind, and fragments of her sealed past flooded into her head. Her breath hitched.

Her hands clenched involuntarily. And in her deep blue eyes… something shifted. A piece of her lost self had just snapped back into place.

Then, in that very instant, she understood.

"Yes! This is it… THIS IS THE MOMENT..!" Luna shouted, her voice ringing through the room with sudden realization
