Chapter 29
After parting ways with the Uchiha clan, Asakawa Naoki made his way home in a hurry.
Since both school and dinner had finished early, the sun was still hanging low in the sky, bathing the streets in the warm glow of sunset as Naoki ran under its light.
"That aura's finally gone… must've been someone sent by Mikoto's grandfather to watch over me."
Naoki had sensed a faint presence trailing him after he left the Uchiha compound. It felt similar to the one that had followed Mikoto when she returned home earlier. Given he'd saved Mikoto and sabotaged part of the Uchiha clan's plans, Naoki guessed it was a guard dispatched by her grandfather to keep an eye on him. Sure enough, once Naoki safely arrived home, that presence vanished.
Now that he was alone, Naoki's desire to break through to the Qi Refining and Spiritualization Realm grew stronger than ever.
Only by reaching that realm could he turn his mental power into spiritual sense — a superior form of perception ninjutsu capable of detecting anyone, anywhere, with a single sweep of his mind. Not only that, it would also allow him to control external incarnations.
The problem was, he was still in the mid-stage of Essence-to-Qi Refinement, only a year into cultivation, and barely eight years old.
According to the basics outlined in his Qi Refining manual, a practitioner with dual spiritual roots could hope to break through to the Spiritualization Realm within ten years of diligent practice. That meant by eighteen at the latest. But to Naoki, that pace felt agonizingly slow.
Unfortunately, he was the only cultivator in this world. Beyond following the methods written on his scrolls, the rest he had to figure out by himself.
"Let's see what was in that scroll Mikoto's grandfather gave me."
After making sure the doors and windows were shut and the lights were on, Naoki closed his eyes and carefully sensed his surroundings once more. Only after confirming no one was nearby did he unroll the scroll.
Inside were two techniques: **Uchiha-Style Shurikenjutsu** and **Uchiha-Style Kenjutsu**.
Naoki's eyes lit up in surprise. He'd expected only the shuriken technique, since Uchiha Katsumi had only mentioned his skill with throwing weapons. He hadn't said a word about swordsmanship. This was a pleasant bonus.
Naoki carefully read both techniques, memorizing the key points as he went.
"As expected from the clan famed for shurikenjutsu," Naoki muttered, appreciating the refined technique. No wonder Uchiha Kanmon had struggled against him — he chased flashiness over substance. With a solid foundation like this, Naoki saw countless new possibilities.
"I'll need to buy some steel wire after school tomorrow."
Getting started with Uchiha shurikenjutsu was simple for someone of his level, but to master it meant learning to control the shuriken mid-flight with steel wires — a technique that demanded skill and precision.
"Now, let's check out this swordsmanship."
Swordsmanship was entirely new territory for Naoki. Unlike throwing techniques, which could be performed without chakra, kenjutsu relied on moves at the beginner stage but required chakra for advanced mastery.
"Let's see if this could help verify an immortal technique…"
Naoki pulled out his immortal technique scroll from the bookshelf and recalled the shurikenjutsu steps he'd just memorized. He opened the immortal scroll again — but as before, no new immortal techniques had appeared.
"As I thought. Techniques that don't use chakra probably can't trigger new immortal arts."
He rolled up the scroll, closed his eyes, and instead focused on recalling the Uchiha swordsmanship details.
When he opened the immortal scroll this time — a new technique finally appeared: **Sword Control Technique**.
A flicker of joy crossed Naoki's face. At last, a second offensive immortal technique to add to his arsenal — and one specializing in lethal precision. Until now, his only attack spell was **Samadhi True Fire**, which he still hadn't successfully cultivated. His other techniques, like external incarnations and bean soldiers, were more utility-based.
That was why he'd been so desperate against Uchiha Setsuna — relying on a transformed magic weapon disguised as the Third Hokage and resorting to self-destruction as his strongest attack.
"But for sword control… I'll need a proper weapon."
He knew that a perfected Sword Control Technique could use anything as a deadly weapon — even a chopstick — killing from miles away. But true mastery required reaching the Spiritualization Realm, since his current Qi Refining stage had too little mana and no spiritual sense for long-range control.
And without spiritual tools in this world, he needed a suitable replacement.
Fortunately, this world had something close: **chakra metal**.
Weapons forged from chakra metal, like Sarutobi Asuma's trench knives, could easily conduct chakra — or perhaps even mana. Naoki guessed such metals might be usable as materials for magic tools.
"I should visit the market street tomorrow."
With that decision made, Naoki turned his attention to cultivating his external incarnation.
He pulled out the two strands of hair he'd acquired earlier — one red, one black. They belonged to **Uzumaki Kushina** and **Uchiha Mikoto**.
"For an incarnation, only the hair root cells matter."
He used his magic power to trim the roots from both strands, carefully storing the rest. His own tissues were expendable, but he only had these two hairs — damaging them wasn't an option.
After gathering a small bundle of his own hair, Naoki refined them with his magic, stripping away impurities until nothing visible remained, leaving behind only the essential tissue that could be sensed through magic power.
"Time to move these to the dantian."
He guided the refined cells down through his meridians to his dantian. Next came the delicate task of refining the tissue from Kushina and Mikoto's hairs. Any mistake here would mean disaster.
Thankfully, the refining process went smoothly, and he successfully merged their cells with his own.
"Now for the real test — compatibility."
Naoki settled his breathing and used magic power to closely observe the fusion process within his dantian. If any signs of rejection appeared, the best-case scenario would be a failed cultivation. At worst, his dantian would be destroyed, crippling his path as a cultivator.
An hour passed as he watched attentively. Slowly, Naoki's expression eased. The cells from both women blended naturally with his own, showing no signs of conflict.
"Could it be because the Uzumaki bloodline belongs to the Yang element's immortal body, and the Uchiha bloodline to the Yin element's immortal eye?"
That seemed the likeliest explanation. Otherwise, foreign cells should have been rejected.
This discovery made Naoki even more optimistic about fusing other bloodlines later — like the Hyuga's Byakugan and the Senju's Wood Release. If he could merge Yin and Yang attributes within his external incarnation, it would greatly strengthen his cultivation path.
"For now, I'll nurture these cells slowly. Once I reach the Spiritualization Realm, I'll be able to accelerate their growth outside my body using mana."
With that plan in place, Naoki resumed his cultivation.
