Chapter 28 - Chapter Twenty Eight-Address me as mom.

There were plenty flowers, but Sabrina's favourite were daisy and carnations of all of them.

Queen of the night was the flower she loved to admire during the night, as it was the only time the flower would bloom.

Sabrina recalled those days she spent with her mom when she was still alive.

They would sit by the entrance stairs, and watched the seeds—or rather flower, which was the Queen of the night which her mother planted bloom into a breathtaking sight—a sight that would get her mesmerised.

She'd laughed at how the flower had bloomed, and her mom would smile softly, while drawing and painting the flower.

She missed her mom. She missed her.

Death snatched her very early, leaving Sabrina alone in this world.

Her mother had died when she was just thirteen—four months after her birthday, her mother was diagnosed with Hepatitis. And Sabrina had watched her as she laid weakly on the bed, giving her a fragile smile, assuring her that she would be okay, she wouldn't leave her—and Sabrina believed.

She believed even though it seemed she was getting better.

She was holding her hand when her mother had struggled to whisper, 'I love you, don't give up' and breathed her last, her hand clasped against hers tightly suddenly felt heavy and lifeless.

Sabrina had cried her guts out when the doctors tried to console her, holding her from jumping at her dead mother as the nurses covered her face with a white sheet and pushed the stretcher away.

Her father—Zachary Wonders didn't even show a hint of sadness at his wife's death. Instead, he was angry, angry that his wife had wrote in her will that Sabrin Wonders was the rightful successor of her inheritance.

Her mom's funeral had only taken place not quite long when her father suddenly brought in another woman and her child—just three weeks after her mother's burial.

Fiona and a nine-year-old Gina the , holding a stuffed teddy bear with a fierce expression like she was the young princess of the mansion.

"Sabrina, from today onwards, Fiona and Gina are your family. Your mother and sister." Was what her father had said to her coldly, like she didn't have a say and must accept the witch-looking woman and spoiled brat as her mother and sister.

It was much later Sabrina found out her father was having another family outside, having a child of nine years without the awareness of her mother until her death.

"What are you doing here?."

Her thoughts were cut off as she looked up to see Bridget, with a bland expression on her face.

"Good morning, aunt ." She hastily got up from the bench, her eyes circled in suprise.

Was she so lost in her thoughts that she didn't realise she was standing right in front of her?

Bridget's eyes narrowed as Sabrina addressed her as 'aunt .'

"Who are you calling aunt? Do I look like your father's sister? Or your mother's?."

Sabrina blinked. What should she call her then? Mom? Big no. That would mean Bridget cutting her into shreds. Or ma'am? It sounded quite too formal. Or Mrs Woodsman? Yes, that would do, Sabrina decided. It was the best way to address her.

"Sorry, Mrs Woodsman." She apologised, lowering her gaze to her shoes. She could do nothing but only avoid getting her angry.

Bridget scoffed, "You are not being specific. There are two Mrs Woodsmans here right now. I don't know if you are address yourself or me."

Sabrina pursed her lips, "Sorry, ma'am."

"You're still acting primitive!." Bridget slapped her so hard on the back that she couldn't help but yelp in pain, her eyes brimmed with tears.

It was clear Bridget didn't like her, and instead of making her already furious mother-in-law more furious, she decided to be formal with her.

But, why was she still mad?

"I'm sorry, but I don't know—." She was interrupted.

"Address me as mom, do you hear me?."

Her face switched to that of puzzlement, "Why—."

Bridget scoffed, "Don't get too excited, my son has already married you, and I, am a big hater of divorcees. So don't think I have fully forgiven or accepted you."

Sabrina couldn't hide the smile that threatened to spill on her face. Yes, she was relieved that alas, Bridget had forgiven her.

"Ma'am, you—." Bridget's steely and cold, blank gaze quickly made her to shut up and she corrected herself immediately, "I mean, mom, sorry."

Bridget hummed with her nose when she saw Lexis, coming from afar, hurriedly.

He had a relieved expression when he saw Sabrina—like he was searching for her.

"Sabrina." He called, and Sabrina's smile disappeared immediately as she sighted him running towards her.

Lexis paused and held her hand, "I was looking for you everywhere. Where were you?."

She bit her inner lip, "You have seen me, right?."

Bridget walked away to give them some privacy, and that was when Sabrina pulled her hand out of Lexis' grasp.

There was no point pretending to act all lovey-dovey with him when they'd divorce sooner or later.

She'd definitely talk to him about the divorce.

"Why did you get up so early?." Lexis questioned, pretending he didn't notice her reaction just a few seconds ago.

She shrugged, "Didn't want to sleep anymore, I guess?."

Her tone was flaccid, and it puzzled him.

"You and my mom now—."

"It's not really men's talk," Sabrina plucked a flower , "your mom and I were having casual talks."

"What is wrong with you?." He held her chin up, only to see a pair of bland, steely emerald eyes—she was looking at him like she was staring at some stranger. And that made him feel uncomfortable.

"Nothing's wrong with me." She slapped his hand off her chin and walked away silently.

Lexis watched as she retracted, the hand she slapped suspending in the air. Did he do something? They talked last night, even cuddled eachother to sleep.

So, what was her problem?

Meanwhile, Emily stood behind a wall, watching the unfolding drama with a victorious smile.

Just like she had predicted, Sabrina was a smart woman.
