Zane POV ~
I... I saw someone from that world here. The patriarch. How is that even possible?
"The things you're seeing now aren't the whole truth, Zane," she said, her tone grave, her eyes narrowing with unsettling clarity. "You haven't even begun to meet your real misfortunes. Not here. Not there. You haven't even covered half the plot. You haven't done anything yet. So, return. Finish what you started."
She turned without another word, her back hunched, her steps uneven.
"Wait!" I shouted after her, panic swelling in my chest. "You're not done explaining!"
She didn't stop. Didn't even glance over her shoulder.
"There's nothing more to explain, Zane," she called back, her voice growing distant, nearly swallowed by the silence. "Just don't lose the chain. It's going to matter more than you know. Good luck."
And then she was gone.
Just like that.
Gone.
