With the power of the Tenseigan, Hyuga Gakuya easily tracked down the artist Deidara, who was out in the wild testing his latest creation.
When Gakuya found him, Deidara was fully absorbed in shaping his clay. As soon as he noticed Gakuya approaching, his eyes lit up with excitement.
"Hm? Hyuga Gakuya! What brings you here? You're here to check out my new jutsu, right?" Deidara grinned broadly.
"Nothing much. I just finished capturing the Six-Tails and thought I'd swing by to see how you were doing," Gakuya said casually, setting down a tray of freshly bought takoyaki beside him.
He smiled. "Come on, have some. They're best while they're still hot."
Deidara's stomach growled right on cue. He plopped down next to Gakuya and eagerly dug into the food.
"That Six-Tails jinchūriki was no pushover. She had a student tagging along—someone from the Tsuchigumo clan. Apparently, she's the heir to their secret jutsu. With her sticking so close, I didn't dare go all out. I was worried she'd pull some kind of self-destruction move and take me down with her. In the end, I had to threaten her teacher's life just to secure both the beast and the technique."
Gakuya spoke casually between bites, as if he were sharing a funny story with an old friend.
Of course, the truth had been conveniently edited. That so-called secret technique hadn't posed any real threat to him. As far as Gakuya was concerned, Fury was just a glorified mob-clearing move.
He did plan to hand the jutsu over to Deidara, but offering it directly would only raise suspicion. Better to use a bit of bait and let Deidara come begging for it instead—much more effective.
As expected, the moment Gakuya hinted that this technique could harm him, Deidara's eyes lit up with intense curiosity.
After all, Deidara had seen the breathtaking artistry Gakuya could unleash. Any technique that could actually hurt someone like Gakuya must be a masterpiece in its own right.
"What kind of jutsu is it?" Deidara asked eagerly. "If it can make you cautious, it must be something else."
Gakuya shook his head lightly.
"I'm not invincible. There are still things in this world that can wound me."
He was, of course, referring to the Ōtsutsuki from beyond the stars. Only a select few among them could truly pose a threat to him.
"The Tsuchigumo clan passed down a powerful forbidden technique called Fury. It's incredibly destructive. The user acts as a vessel to absorb the surrounding natural energy, then releases it in a massive outward burst. The blast radius alone spans hundreds of kilometers."
"During the Third Great Ninja War, the Tsuchigumo clan's leader used this jutsu to obliterate an entire village in a single strike."
Deidara's jaw dropped. "No way. You're messing with me, right?"
This level of destruction went far beyond what he considered the pinnacle of art.
Gakuya snorted.
"Why would I lie? The jutsu was so dangerous that Hiruzen Sarutobi himself demanded the Tsuchigumo seal it away and classify it as a forbidden technique."
"In return, he promised that Konohagakure would protect their clan from danger, should the need arise. As a former Leaf shinobi, that intel was included in the classified ninja codex."
"I didn't really believe it back then... but now I do." Gakuya pulled out a black gemstone and held it in front of Deidara, a knowing smile on his face.
"This is the catalyst for that jutsu. I've analyzed it thoroughly. It helps the user gather natural energy—but the method was crude and inefficient."
"After some modifications on my part, it now not only retains its original function but also assists in molding senjutsu chakra and boosts the power of any jutsu it's paired with."
Deidara's heart was pounding. His whole life had been devoted to the pursuit of true art—and this Fury sounded like perfection incarnate.
A single blast that could erase everything for hundreds of kilometers? That wasn't just destruction—it was divine.
And if it enhanced jutsu power, then it might even take his Explosion Release to an entirely new level.
"Gakuya… could you teach me that jutsu?" Deidara asked, grinning sheepishly. "I've got a feeling it was made for someone like me."
Gakuya frowned slightly, as if conflicted.
"Well… I'm still studying it, so it's a bit early to hand it over."
Deidara instantly switched to pleading mode.
"Please, Gakuya! I swear I'll put it to good use and create something truly magnificent!"
Seeing Deidara grovel like that made Gakuya chuckle inwardly, but he kept up the reluctant act.
"It's just… the technique is really unstable. I'm afraid you might not be able to handle it."
"I'll be fine! Honest!" Deidara pressed his hands together. "My pursuit of art knows no limits. I'll master it—I have to!"
Gakuya looked into his determined eyes and knew he had him completely. After pretending to hesitate a bit longer, he sighed dramatically.
"Fine. How could I say no?"
Deidara leapt to his feet in delight.
"Yes! Thank you, Gakuya! I swear, I'll make this jutsu shine brighter than ever before!"
"Alright. Turn around and take off your shirt. I'll implant the catalyst."
Deidara quickly sat down, back facing Gakuya, and stripped off his upper clothes without hesitation.
Gakuya pressed the gemstone against his back and began channeling senjutsu chakra. A complex sealing jutsu activated as the gem slowly sank into Deidara's flesh.
His muscles twitched as the stone fused seamlessly with his body, connecting to his chakra network like it had always been there.
With precise control, Gakuya completed the fusion in one smooth motion.
Deidara could feel the power coursing through him.
"Gakuya! I feel amazing! It's like my whole body is overflowing with energy!"
Gakuya gave a small nod.
"The catalyst for Fury has been fully implanted. But you'll need serious training before you can control that kind of power."
He went on to explain how to sense natural energy and how the technique functioned. Deidara listened with rapt attention, absorbing every word.
He really was a once-in-a-generation genius. A prodigy who had joined Akatsuki at the age of twelve.
"I think I can develop even more forms of art now!" Deidara said, his eyes sparkling. The new power had opened up an entirely new dimension for him.
Gakuya patted his shoulder. "Then don't waste it. Make it count. I'll leave you to your work—I'm heading back to rest."
"Don't worry. I'll create the most beautiful explosion the world's ever seen!" Deidara declared, thumping his chest with pride.
"I believe you," Gakuya said with a smile, turning to walk away.
He knew the operation had been a complete success. Deidara was now firmly wrapped up in his grand plan.
Even though he'd exploited Deidara's naïve obsession with art, Gakuya couldn't bring himself to feel guilty about it.
After all, did you see how happy Deidara was? That's what we call a win-win.
